THE FIRST ITEM OF BUSINESS IS THE

[Library Board on November 9 2020]

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FOR THE OCTOBER DETROIT MEETING.

UH, I HOPE YOU'VE ALL HAD TIME TO READ OVER THE MINUTES THE MINUTES.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY CORRECTIONS OR ADDITIONS THAT YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE TO THE MINUTES? NO, THERE'S ONE SMALL SPELLING ERROR, BUT UH, NOT CRITICAL PERCENT.

PRE B E R C E N T.

UH, GOODNESS GRACIOUS.

OH, HERE WE GO TO GO OVER TO THE VIRUS, UM, THAT WE'RE NOW AT 75% AND AT 50% CAPACITY ALIGNERS MIA CULPA, RIGHT.

I JUST BOUNCE LIGHT OVER THAT.

OH, THIS IS TERRY.

I MOVE THAT.

WE ACCEPT THE MINUTES AS CORRECTED.

I SECOND IT ALL IN FAVOR, SAY, AYE, ALL OPPOSED, LIKE SIGN, THEY ARE ACCEPTED.

WE WILL GO DOWN TO, UH, ITEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION.

AND THE FIRST ONE WE HAVE ON THE AGENDA IS THE INTRODUCTION OF THE NEW WALNUT CREEK LIBRARY MANAGER.

I'LL TURN THAT OVER TO KAREN.

GOOD EVENING, EVERYONE.

SO I'M VERY EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT OUR NEW WALNUT CREEK BRANCH MANAGER IS MS. KATIE MEALS, WHO HAS BEEN WITH THE LIBRARY FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS WHO I'M SURE YOU'VE ALL MET AND ASK QUESTIONS TOO AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER.

WE'RE JUST, WE'RE VERY EXCITED TO HAVE KATIE MOVED INTO THE POSITION.

UM, BUT I'LL TURN IT OVER TO KATIE IF SHE CAN GIVE US OR HER SPIEL ABOUT HERSELF.

UM, I'M EXCITED TO BE, UH, MOVING TO WALNUT.

UH, I'VE BEEN WITH THE LIBRARY FOR 18 YEARS AND I'VE WORKED JUST ABOUT EVERY POSITION, SO EXCEPT CIRCULATION.

SO I AM LEARNING A LOT ABOUT THAT AND IT'S, IT'S AN ADVENTURE.

IT'S, IT'S A VERY DIFFERENT SKILLSET.

SO I AM EXCITED TO DO THIS.

UM, I'M, I'M THRILLED TO BE THERE.

GOT TO GET RID OF THE DOG.

SORRY.

UH, NO, I, LIKE I SAID, I'VE BEEN WITH THE LIBRARY FOR 18 YEARS AND I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING THERE A LONG TIME TO COME AND A NEW LIBRARY.

YES.

SO WE'RE JUST, WE'RE VERY EXCITED TO HAVE KATIE AND LOOK FORWARD TO, UM, SEGMENTING STAFF AT, AT BALD NUT AND MOVING FORWARD WITH THE PROJECT.

YES.

CONGRATULATIONS, KATIE.

THAT'S GREAT.

THANK YOU.

WELL, SHE HAS TO HIRE FOR HER OWN POSITION.

I SAID NOW SHE HAS TO HIRE FOR HER OLD POSITION BECAUSE SHE'S CREATED A WHOLE, WELL, SHE BETTER FIND SOMEONE HALF AS GOOD AS SHE IS BECAUSE SHE IS SO GOOD.

WELL, THANK YOU.

I THINK I'M GOING TO BE DOING IT FOR A LITTLE WHILE.

OKAY.

ANY OTHER COMMENTS BEFORE WE MOVE ON? ALRIGHTY, WE WILL TACKLE THE BOND PROJECTS AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN PROGRAM UPDATE FROM KAREN.

OKAY.

SO, UH, AS MS. TERRY ALLUDED TO EARLIER, WALNUT CREEK PASSED IN, UH, THE ELECTION.

SO WE'RE SUPER EXCITED THAT AN OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF VOTERS, I THINK IT ENDED UP BEING 77% OR A LITTLE BETTER THAN THAT.

UM, VOTED TO APPROVE THE LIBRARY WALNUT CREEK BRANCH LIBRARY BEING BUILT, UM, AT HOLLABAUGH.

SO THAT'S CRAZY EXCITING.

WE'RE ALL EXCITED.

AND I THINK SOMEONE SAID IT, I CAN'T REMEMBER WHO SAID IT, THAT TED IS THE ONE THING EVERYBODY CAN AGREE ON.

HOPEFULLY WITH THE ELECTION, THAT WAS A GOOD THING WAS CONTROVERSIAL, WAS THE ELECTION HAS BEEN, SO WE ARE MOVING FORWARD.

AS YOU REMEMBER, LAST MONTH, WE TALKED ABOUT THE LIBRARY WORKING WITH THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE AND WITH A FACILITIES MANAGEMENT, CREATING A SHORT LIST OF ARCHITECTS THAT WE'LL BE ABLE TO USE ON CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS FOR THE LIBRARY FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS.

SO IT COULD BE BOND RELATED CIP RELATED, BIG, SMALL.

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT IT IS.

IF WE NEED A, UH, IF WE NEED THE ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES FOR ANY PROJECT, WE CAN GO BACK TO THIS APPROVED SHORT LIST AND BYPASS THAT WHOLE,

[00:05:01]

UM, REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS, THAT PROCESS THAT, THAT YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH TO GET TO, TO THIS STEP.

SO THE GOOD NEWS IN THAT IS THAT WITH THAT SHORT LIST, WE ARE HAVE IT NARROWED DOWN TO A FRONT RUNNER AND WE'LL BE WORKING WITH, UM, THAT ARCHITECT TO, UH, WORK THROUGH CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS AND THEN TAKE THE APPROVAL TO THE BOARD PROBABLY AROUND THE FIRST OF THE YEAR IN JANUARY FOR THAT, UM, APPROVAL PROCESS FOR THE DESIGN AND PROGRAMMING PHASE OF THE NEW WALNUT CREEK BRANCH LIBRARY TO TAKE PLACE.

UM, AND WHILE WE'RE ON WALNUT CREEK, I'LL GO AHEAD AND SAY THAT, UM, THIS IS GOING TO TAKE ME TO MY NOTES REAL QUICK.

THIS WILL PROBABLY, UH, FULLY BE COMPLETE IN 2023.

THERE'S GOING TO BE ABOUT A YEAR'S WORTH OF PROGRAMMING.

AND THAT WILL START IN 2021 FOR THE PROCESS.

AND THERE'S GOING TO BE A VERY LARGE, ALMOST VERY LARGE.

THERE'S GOING TO BE A HEALTHY, UM, PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COMPONENT TO THIS, UH, PROJECT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE, UM, LISTENING TO STAKEHOLDERS, LISTENING TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS, LISTENING TO PARTNERS, TO BE ABLE TO HAVE DIFFERENT, UM, THINGS IN A LIBRARY THAT'S NEEDED IN THE WEST GARLAND AREA.

SO WE'RE, WE'RE THRILLED.

AND LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS PROJECT, YOU ALL WILL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE PART IN THOSE, UM, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MEETINGS AND PROBABLY HAVE A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MEETING, JUST STAKEHOLDERS MEETING FOR YOURSELF AS WELL WITH THE ARCHITECT AND WITH THE LIBRARY CONSULTANT.

SO YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO, UM, MAKE YOUR WISHLIST AND YOUR CONCERNS FOR THE AREA KNOWN.

SO START THINKING NOW OF, YOU KNOW, WHAT KINDS OF THINGS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE AT THE NEW WALNUT CREEK LIBRARY.

SO WE CAN START THAT PLANNING PROCESS, UM, WHILE WE'RE ON BOND PROJECTS.

UM, I KNOW EVERYBODY REMEMBERS ALL THE DIFFERENT PROJECTS, A PART OF THE BOND, LIKE THE BACK OF THEIR HAND, REMEMBER THAT WE, WE RECEIVED SOME FUNDS FOR, UH, LIBRARY MODERNIZATIONS FOR THE NEW WALNUT CREEK BRANCH LIBRARY AND FOR LIBRARY KIOSKS.

SO LIBRARY KIOSKS, UM, THESE ARE THE LIBRARY MATERIALS HANDLE EARTH LUMBER MATERIALS.

HENDRICKS IS, UH, LIKE A VENDING MACHINE WITH LIBRARY MATERIALS IN IT SORT OF LIKE, UH, HOW MANY OF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE RED BOX AT DIFFERENT ESTABLISHMENTS OR LIKE CVS AND WALGREENS THAT HAVE A RED BOX THERE.

THIS IS SOMETHING SORT OF SIMILAR TO A RED BOX.

IT JUST HAS LIBRARY MATERIALS IN IT.

SO, UM, WE'VE BEEN, WE STARTED WE'RE BEFORE THE PANDEMIC ON TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A GOOD LOCATION TO PUT KIOSKS NUMBER ONE AND HAD BEEN GOING WITH KIND OF PUT IT ON THE BACK BURNER.

THE PANDEMIC WAS IN ITS HEIGHT AND, UH, WE WERE SCRAMBLING BEHIND THE SCENES LIBRARY OPERATIONS AND RESPONDING TO, UM, EXCUSE ME, THE PANDEMIC, ALL THAT TO SAY IS WE THINK WE'VE NARROWED DOWN.

HOLD ON JUST ONE SECOND.

OKAY.

EXCUSE ME.

SORRY ABOUT THAT.

UM, ALL OF THAT, TO SAY THAT, UM, WE'VE BEEN GOING THROUGH A PROCESS AND OF, UM, TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE THE BEST PLACE IS GOING TO BE.

OUR FIRST KIOSK IS GOING TO BE IN COUNCILMAN ALBAN'S DISTRICT IN DISTRICT FIVE.

WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH HIM OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS TO NARROW DOWN AND GO THROUGH A SELECTION PROCESS TO FIND OUT WHAT HIS, UM, CRITERIA ARE, HIS RECOMMENDATIONS, WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE FOR HIS DISTRICT.

AND THEN, YOU KNOW, COMPARING THAT WITH THE DIFFERENT SPECIFICATIONS AND, UM, CRITERIA THAT THE LIBRARY HAS.

I'M TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE FINDING A GOOD FIT, THAT WE CAN SERVE BERLIN CITIZENS IN THIS AREA OF TOWN.

AND I THINK WE MAY HAVE FOUND, UM, POSSIBLE PLACES IN DISTRICT THAT ARE, UH, CONTENDERS FOR WHERE WE CAN PUT A LIBRARY MATERIALS KIOSK.

ONE OF THOSE PLACES IS AT LAWN WIND PARK.

[00:10:01]

AND I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY OF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THIS, UH, PARK AREA.

IT IS, UM, SLATED TO, I THINK, RECEIVED SOME THEIR BOND MONEY OR CIP MONEY TO DO SOME UPGRADES AND, UM, DIFFERENT CHANGE-OUTS FOR THAT PARTICULAR AREA.

UH, IT, IT OFFERS A LOT OF REALLY COOL FEATURES THAT WE WOULD BE ABLE TO UTILIZE WITHIN LIBRARY KIOSK.

ONE OF THEM BEING, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE SEEN THE PARK, IT HAS AN OLD SWIMMING POOL THERE, WHICH THEY'RE GOING TO, UM, I THINK CREATE SOMETHING ELSE, UH, MEGA SPLASH PAD INSTEAD OF USING THAT SWIMMING POOL NOW, BUT THERE'S SOME VERY LARGE TREES ON THE PROPERTY.

IT WOULD BE A GREAT PLACE IF YOU WERE LOOKING TO CHECK OUT A BOOK AND YOU WANTED A PLACE TO BE ABLE TO SIT AND READ, TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE THAT, UM, WHAT IS IT UP KIND OF A SANCTUARY FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD AREA, BE ABLE TO UNPLUG, GET AWAY, YOU KNOW, BE OUTDOORS AND IN A GOOD PLACE, UH, WITH YOUR LIBRARY, MATERIAL, YOUR BOOK.

UM, THE OTHER THING THAT THIS SITE ALLOWS US TO POSSIBLY BE ABLE TO DO IS PROVIDE SOME IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING AT THE PARK, IN ADDITION TO JUST HAVING A KIOSK WITH LIBRARY MATERIALS.

AND THAT IS A VERY ATTRACTIVE, UM, COMPONENT TO THIS SITE.

THE, SOME OF THE OTHER SITES THAT WE'VE LOOKED AT, UH, WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO.

UM, THE SECOND SITE THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT, THAT'S A TOP CONTENDER AS AT THE INTERSECTION OF KINGSLEY AND FIRST STREET, THERE ARE, YOU KNOW, SEVERAL DIFFERENT, UM, DOCTORS OFFICES THERE, THERE'S A DENTIST, A PEDIATRICIAN, AN EYE DOCTOR.

UM, THERE'S A LAUNDROMAT AND THAT CLOSE VICINITY THERE AS WELL.

AND IT'S VERY CLOSE TO THE OLD RIDGE WOOD, UM, LIBRARY AREA.

SO THERE'S ALREADY A, FOR LONG RESIDENTS.

THEY KNOW THAT THAT THAT AREA HAD LIBRARY SERVICES THERE AND MAY BE USED TO GO INTO THAT SAME AREA TO BE ABLE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THOSE LIBRARY SERVICES.

IT GETS GREAT TRAFFIC VISIBILITY'S, YOU KNOW, REALLY GOOD, ACTUALLY BOTH PLACES GET A FAIR AMOUNT OF TRAFFIC AND IT WOULD BE A GOOD VISIBLE PLACE FOR THE LIBRARY KIOSK.

BUT WE'RE WORKING NOW WITH, UM, YOU KNOW, FUNDED BY THE PARKS DEPARTMENT, WE'LL WORK WITH ENGINEERING AND OF COURSE, COUNCILMAN ALBANY, TO MAKE SURE THAT THE, THE BEST SITE IS SELECTED FOR US TO MOVE FORWARD AND HOPEFULLY BE ABLE TO PROVIDE SOME TYPE OF LIBRARY SERVICES FOR THIS AREA OF GARLAND.

THE ONE THING I DO WANT TO MENTION WITH THE KIOSK IS, I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN SHARE IT OR NOT.

IF YOU LOOK AT THE CITY AND DO A TWO MILE RADIUS AROUND EACH LIBRARY LOCATION, THIS IS AN AREA OF TOWN THAT IS OUTSIDE OF ANY OF THOSE, UM, SERVICE DISTRICTS FOR THE LIBRARY LOCATIONS.

SO SOUTH IT'S A LOT OF NEIGHBORHOODS, APARTMENT COMPLEXES, RESIDENTIAL AREAS AROUND IT, CENTRAL NORTH AND WALNUT ALL ENCOMPASSING, LARGE AREA OF RESIDENTIAL, LOTS OF NEIGHBORHOODS SCHOOLS.

THERE'S A GOOD POCKET DOWN IN THAT.

UM, MIDWAY HAS BETWEEN THE CENTRAL LIBRARY AND SOUTH THAT A GOOD SECTION THAT IS NOT SERVED IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA OF A LIBRARY, AND THIS WOULD HELP FILL THAT GAP IN.

SO THIS COULD BE A VERY GOOD THING.

I'LL PAUSE HERE TO SEE IF ANYONE HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS BEFORE MOVING ON.

EXCUSE ME TO THE NEXT, KAREN, NOT EVERYONE IS FAMILIAR WITH THAT PART OF TOWN.

TELL US WHERE THE WIND PARK IS LAWN WHEN PARK WILL, MAY HAVE TO HELP ME WITH THIS A LITTLE BIT TOO.

IT'S UM, JUST SOUTH OF THE FIRST AND KINGSLEY INTERSECTION.

I'M SORRY, FIRST IN CENTERVILLE, FIRST AND CENTRAL.

THANK YOU.

I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO GET THAT WRONG.

IT'S PROBABLY ABOUT HALF A MILE, IF THAT FROM THE FIRST AND KINGSLEY, UM, INTERSECTION IT'S NOT FAR, UM, IT'S, IT'S CLOSE TO A LOT OF NEIGHBORHOODS.

THERE'S A HEALTHY AMOUNT OF RESIDENTIAL AROUND THAT PARTICULAR AREA.

UM, I BELIEVE, I DON'T THINK THERE'S A SCHOOL RIGHT ACROSS THE WAY FROM IT, BUT IT IS IN THE VICINITY OF SCHOOLS, DAYCARES, UM, AND SOME OTHER, UM, ESTABLISHES ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS THAT, UH, KINGSLEY FIRST, I SHOULD SAY AS WELL, THEY ARE CLOSE OR THAT PARTICULAR LOCATION IS CLOSE TO SCHOOLS, DAYCARES, AND THOSE TYPES OF ORGANIZATIONS AS WELL,

[00:15:01]

JUST TO BE FAIR TO BOTH SIDES, DOES THAT HELP AT ALL WITH THE LOCATION OR? I KNEW WHERE IT WAS, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW.

SO WOULD, WOULD THE KIOSK BE FOR, UH, BROWSING AND CHECKING OUT OR WOULD IT BE A PLACE TO PICK UP, UH, ITEMS ON HOLD OR BOTH? THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION.

IT KIND OF DEPENDS ON WHAT KIOSK WE ENDED UP WITH.

THEY MAKE A KIOSK THAT WILL JUST ABOUT DO ANYTHING WE WANT IT TO DO DEPENDING ON IF WE WANT TO SPEND THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY OR DEPENDS UPON IDEALLY, THIS WOULD BE A PLACE THAT WE WOULD HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF ITEMS, A SMALL AMOUNT OF ITEMS. AND I SHOULD SAY TO BEGIN WITH, WE CAN CUSTOMIZE THE KIOSKS WITH WHATEVER WE WANT TO HAVE IN THEM, DEPENDING ON WHAT THE NEED IS AND WHAT PATRON DEMAND IS.

SO JUST BECAUSE WE PUT SOMETHING IN THERE DOESN'T MEAN IT HAS TO STAY IN THERE FOREVER.

UM, WE CAN HAVE, UH, THEY MAKE KIOSKS THAT YOU CAN CHECK MATERIALS OUT, RETURN MATERIALS AND EVEN PICK UP HOLDS IDEALLY THE KIOSK THAT WE HAVE WOULD BE ABLE TO DO ALL THREE OF THOSE THINGS, BUT I THINK IT'S GOING TO COME DOWN, BUT THE ONE THING I DON'T, I'M A LITTLE BIT, UM, UNSURE ABOUT WITH COSTS IS IF BEING ABLE TO PICK UP A WHOLE HOW THAT AFFECTS THEIR, UM, THE RETURNS AND THE BROWSING COLLECTION THAT PATRONS WOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE.

SO WE'LL DEFINITELY GO THROUGH A PROCESS TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING TO BE THE BEST KIOSK FOR THE AREA.

ONE THING WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO DO FOR EITHER PLACE IS CREATE AN AWNING OF SOME TYPE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE KIOSK IS NOT TAKING DIRECT SUN OR, UM, YOU KNOW, THE ENVIRONMENT IT'S SHIELDED A LITTLE BIT FROM THE ENVIRONMENT, BUT THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS? UM, I HAVE ONE MORE.

SO I THINK YOU TALKED ABOUT THIS ONCE UPON A TIME THAT I DON'T REMEMBER THE CAPACITY, AND AGAIN, I'M SURE IT'S A MATTER OF WHAT YOU PAY FOR, BUT ARE YOU ENVISIONING DOZENS OF BOOKS? UH, HUNDREDS OF BOOKS, SURELY NOT THOUSANDS OF BOOKS, BUT, UM, IT'S MY HANDY DANDY NOTEBOOK HERE.

SO YOU COVERED IT PRETTY WELL.

WE CAN DO THINGS THAT JUST HAVE, YOU KNOW, A SMALL AMOUNT, MEDIUM AMOUNT OR A LARGE AMOUNT.

UM, I THINK WE NEED TO STAY PERSONALLY AND LIKE THE 500 TO 750 ITEM RANGE FOR THE KIOSK.

AND THERE'S SOME VARIANCE IN THERE DEPENDING ON IF YOU HAVE, YOU KNOW, LARGER ADULT MATERIALS, IF YOU HAVE MORE PICTURE BOOKS FOR CHILDREN, IF YOU'RE TALKING DVDS, BOOKS ON CD, IT JUST, IT KIND OF DEPENDS A LITTLE BIT TOO ON WHAT, UM, PUT IN THE KIOSK DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH ROOM IT TAKES.

UM, BUT I THINK I'M GOOD.

MID GRADE WOULD BE BETWEEN 500 AND 750 ATOMS. SO NOT THE LARGEST, NOT THE SMALLEST, JUST A NICE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD KIOSK.

THANK YOU.

OH, YOU'RE WELCOME.

AGAIN, ONE OF THE GREAT THINGS ABOUT THE KIOSK IS THAT WE CAN CUSTOMIZE BASED ON WHAT PATRON NEED AND PATRON DEMAND IS AT THE KIOSK.

JUST LIKE OUR LIBRARIES SOUNDS PRETTY BIG TO ME.

THAT'S GREAT.

I HAD NO IDEA HOW MANY WE WERE LOOKING ITEMS WE WERE LOOKING AT.

THEY HAVE SOME, THE WHOLE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF THEM.

THAT'S WHAT I WAS GOING TO SAY.

THERE ARE SOME THAT ARE LIKE GIANT TRUCKS, ALMOST.

ABSOLUTELY.

OKAY.

THE NEXT ADAM UNDER BONDS AND CIP PROJECTS.

UM, I WILL TELL YOU, I WILL START THIS BY SAYING, THIS IS NOT QUITE A DONE DEAL YET, BUT THIS IS WHAT WE'RE WORKING TOWARDS.

SO YOU HEAR NOTHING ELSE WITH THIS PROJECT, JUST KNOW, IT'S IT.

WE'RE STILL WORKING THROUGH ALL OF THE LOGISTICS OF THIS PROJECT.

SO THE, UH, CENTRAL LIBRARY, UM, WE'RE ALL FAMILIAR OR I CAN GIVE A QUICK UPDATE FOR THOSE WHO MAY NOT BE FAMILIAR.

UH, THE LIFE AND SAFETY PROJECT WE HAVE COMPLETED ALMOST COMPLETED.

THERE ARE A FEW TINY THINGS LEFT SCOPE, A OF CENTRAL LIFE AND SAFETY.

AND REMEMBER WHAT THAT WE DID.

UM, ACCESS CONTROLS.

WE RENOVATED THE RESTROOMS ON THE MAIN FLOOR TO BE ADA COMPLIANT.

UM, WE PAINTED, WE RESURFACED THE PARKING LOT, ADDED SOME EXTERIOR LIGHTING.

UM, WELL, AM I MISSING

[00:20:01]

ANYTHING? I FEEL LIKE I'M MISSING SOMETHING.

NO, I THINK YOU'VE JUST ABOUT GOT IT ALL.

UM, WE HAVE, IT HAS NO SHOCK TO ANYBODY.

THE CENTRAL LIBRARY IS AN OLD BUILDING.

IT WAS NOT CONSTRUCTED TO BE ABLE TO, UM, NO ONE KNEW THAT WE WERE GOING TO BE SO RELIANT ON TECHNOLOGY WHEN THE BUILDING WAS CONSTRUCTED.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE NEED FOR CENTRAL IS AN UPGRADE TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.

WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO OFFER, UM, MORE DEVICES AND DIFFERENT TYPES OF DEVICES TO PATRONS.

WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO ALLOW PATRONS TO BE ABLE TO PLUG IN WITH THEIR OWN DEVICES THAT THEY'RE BRINGING FROM HOME.

SO WE KIND OF, WE'VE REACHED A POINT AT CENTRAL THAT WE'RE ALMOST HAVING TO UNPLUG SOMETHING TO PLUG SOMETHING ELSE IN OR WERE BEYOND CAPACITY FOR THE BUILDING.

THERE'S AN OPPORTUNITY THAT WE MAY HAVE TO BE ABLE TO UPGRADE THE, UM, ELECTRICAL SOONER RATHER THAN LATER.

UM, IN ORDER TO DO THAT THOUGH, IT KIND OF MAKES SENSE FOR US TO, UH, PUSH UP THE WORKFORCE SCOPE, BE OF A CENTRAL LIFE AND SAFETY PROJECT, AS WELL AS THE MODERNIZATIONS FOR THE CENTRAL OPERATING AND DO EVERYTHING TOGETHER TO GET THE MOST BANG FOR OUR BUTT AND TO MINIMIZE AS MUCH, UM, HOW, WHAT AM I TRYING TO SAY? UH, DISRUPTION FOR STAFF AND FOR THE PUBLIC AS WELL? SO THIS WOULD MEAN, UH, ALL OF THE WORK FOR SCOPE B ALL OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTING, ALL OF THE CEILING GRID, THE DUCT WORK, ALL OF THE, UM, SPRINKLER SYSTEM ON THE MAIN FLOOR OF CENTRAL WOULD BE DONE SO THAT THE CEILING WOULD BE TORN OUT FOR THE MODERNIZATIONS.

UH, WE'RE STILL WORKING THROUGH SOME OF THOSE MODERNIZATIONS, BUT IT WOULD BE A TECHNOLOGY OVERHAUL FOR CENTRAL AND BEING ABLE TO, UH, EXCUSE ME, POSSIBLY RECONFIGURE THAT AREA TO MAXIMIZE EFFICIENCIES, TO REALIGN, UM, WHERE WE HAVE THINGS PLACED THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING TO BE ABLE TO OFFER, UH, SOME DIFFERENT FLEXIBLE USE SPACES THAT WE CURRENTLY DON'T HAVE AT CENTRAL AND BETTER SERVE THE PUBLIC.

SO JUST AS AN EXAMPLE, UH, WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO OUTFIT ALL OF OUR STUDY ROOMS, OUR CONFERENCE ROOM, IF WE HAD A CLASSROOM WITH, UH, EQUIPMENT, LAPTOP, UH, UM, POSSIBLY SMART BOARDS, BUT PROBABLY WHITE BOARDS THAT WITH THE ABILITY, YOU KNOW, THE GIANT MONITORS ON THE WALL FOR PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO COME IN, COLLABORATE, USE THOSE SYSTEMS FOR EITHER, UM, COLLABORATIVE WORK IN PERSON OR VIRTUALLY.

AND THE ONE THING THAT WE'RE MOVING TOWARDS WAY BEFORE THE PANDEMIC STARTED WAS THE VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT, TELEMEDICINE, TELEWORK, UM, YOU KNOW, DISTANCE LEARNING.

AND THE PANDEMIC HAS JUST REALLY EMPHASIZED, UH, OUR NEED TO BE ABLE TO OFFER THAT TO THE PUBLIC.

YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE BIG THINGS THAT WE CAN'T PROVIDE RIGHT NOW IS IF, IF YOU WANTED TO DO ANY TYPE OF TELEMEDICINE, WHICH IS REALLY BIG RIGHT NOW WITH DOCTORS, YOU KNOW, IT'S KIND OF THE FIRST STEP ANYMORE.

UM, WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE A PLACE FOR PATRONS IN THE PUBLIC TO BE ABLE TO COME IN AND SET UP AN A, I WON'T SAY PRIVATE, BUT I SEMI-PRIVATE AREA THAT THEY CAN HAVE SOME OF THOSE CONVERSATIONS WITH DOCTORS, NURSE PRACTITIONERS, AS WELL AS COMMUNICATE WITH TEACHERS SET UP THE APPOINTMENTS.

I MET MY HUSBAND AND I MET WITH, UH, THAT NOTHING'S WRONG.

WE MET WITH AN ATTORNEY THIS WEEK TO GET SOME PAPERS DRAWN UP FOR SOMETHING, BUT, YOU KNOW, THE FIRST STEP WAS DOING IT VIRTUALLY TO, TO START THAT PROCESS.

AND NOT EVERYONE HAS ACCESS TO THAT TYPE OF TECHNOLOGY TO BE ABLE TO DO.

AND THEY DON'T NECESSARILY ALSO WANT TO DO IT AT THEIR HOME.

THEY NEED ANOTHER PLACE TO BE ABLE TO, UM, SET UP AND BE ABLE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT.

SO WE THINK THE LIBRARY IS ONE OF THOSE PLACES THAT IT MAKES SENSE TO HAVE IT AT CENTRAL.

WE CAN'T REALLY DO IT YET BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO PLUG ALL THOSE ITEMS IN AND OFFER IT AT CENTRAL BECAUSE OF THE ELECTRICAL.

SO FINGERS CROSSED, WE'LL BE ABLE TO MAKE THOSE CHANGES IN THE NEAR FUTURE, BUT WHILE WE'RE DOING THAT AND TEARING THINGS UP, IT MAKES SENSE TO DO THE OTHER CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS AT THE SAME TIME.

SO LET ME PAUSE HERE TO SEE ARE THERE, IT MAKES SENSE

[00:25:01]

TO ME BECAUSE I'VE BEEN LIVING AND BREATHING IT FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, BUT I KNOW IT'S A LOT OF INFORMATION REALLY CONVINCED.

ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS OR ANYTHING THAT I CAN HELP CLARIFY? NO, COME ON.

I DON'T THINK I DID THAT.

GOOD OF A JOB EXPLAINING IT, JUST KINDA NEW.

I THINK IT'S SOMETHING IT'S GOING TO BE A BIG CHUNK.

IT'S GOING TO BE A MAJOR ENDEAVOR FOR EVERYBODY AT CENTRAL, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY, I DO THINK THIS IS AWESOME OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO BE ABLE TO, UM, DO SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR CENTRAL AND, AND, YOU KNOW, KIND OF BRING IT FORWARD AND BE ABLE TO OFFER SOME OF THE REALLY COOL THINGS THAT WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO OFFER.

MAKER-SPACE, UM, BEING ABLE TO PUT DIFFERENT PIECES OF TECHNOLOGY IN THE HANDS OF ALL AGES, NOT JUST CHILDREN, HAVING A PROGRAM OR A MEETING ROOM, THAT'S ABLE TO BE, UH, WHAT THE PUBLIC NEEDS IT TO BE.

THAT MEETING ROOM GETS USED ALL THE TIME BY THE PUBLIC.

AND RIGHT NOW IT'S REALLY DARK STAFF, STAFF, STAFF AREAS, AND STORAGE, EVEN THAT PART, YOU KNOW, WE'VE KIND OF, WE'VE KIND OF FRANKENSTEINED EVERYTHING TOGETHER.

SO WE KIND OF HAVE THINGS ALL OVER THE PLACE.

SO IT WOULD BE AN OPPORTUNITY TO REALLY KIND OF LOOK AT THAT AGAIN AS WELL, BUT THERE WILL BE SOMEBODY, UH, TO, UH, DO THIS WORK, OR ARE YOU STILL LOOKING FOR SOMEBODY TO DO THE UPGRADING? THAT'S A REALLY GOOD QUESTION.

THE FIRST STEP WOULD BE TO BRING AN ARCHITECT ON BOARD AND WE WOULD GO BACK TO THAT LIST OF THE, UM, PRE-APPROVED, UH, SHORT LIST OF ARCHITECTS TO CHOOSE ONE, THE BEST FIT FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROJECT.

AND THAT'S KIND OF WHERE WE'RE AT RIGHT NOW.

WE DON'T WANT TO GET THE CART BEFORE THE HORSE, BUT WE DO NEED TO GET THE PROJECT MOVING.

SO WE'RE GOING THROUGH AGAIN WITH THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE, WITH FACILITIES MANAGEMENT, UH, AND MAKING SURE THAT, THAT WE CHOOSE THE RIGHT ARCHITECT FOR THE JOB.

THERE WILL BE MANY MORE UPDATES ON THIS PARTICULAR PROJECT, BECAUSE IT'S NOT THE, THIS IS NOT THE ONLY TIME WE'LL BE DISCUSSING THIS PROJECT.

AND THERE WILL BE A COMPONENT THAT, UH, YOU KNOW, WE'LL NEED TO GET SOME OPINIONS FROM THE BOARD AND SOME PARTICIPATION FROM THE BOARD BEFORE MOVING FORWARD.

BUT IF THE PROJECT THAT IS ALL I HAVE UNDER, UM, ITEM B, OKAY.

WE'LL JUST GO INTO ITEM C MASTER PLAN STATUS UPDATE.

OKAY.

UM, JUST TO GIVE YOU A QUICK HEADS UP THE PRESENTATION THAT WE WERE GOING TO MAKE TO COUNSEL ON THE MASTER PLAN STATUS HAS BEEN MOVED FROM NOVEMBER 16TH TO NOVEMBER 30TH FOR THE COUNCIL WORK SESSION.

UM, JUST GIVES US A LITTLE BIT MORE TIME.

I THINK THEY HAVE A SUPER PACKED AGENDA NEXT MONDAY, AND THEY NEEDED TO, UM, MOVE A COUPLE OF THINGS AROUND.

SO WE'RE, UM, GONNA PRESENT AFTER THANKSGIVING.

HOPEFULLY EVERYONE WILL HOPE I WILL BE IN A TURKEY COMA NOVEMBER 30TH AFTER THANKSGIVING, BUT, UM, WE HAVE A FEW DAYS AND WE DID REVIEW THE PRESENTATION.

THERE'VE JUST BEEN A COUPLE OF SMALL TWEAKS TO THE PRESENTATION IN THE WAY OF, UH, PHOTOS OR SOME DIFFERENT THINGS THAT WE WERE GOING TO SHOW TO ILLUSTRATE THE POINT.

UM, ONE OF THOSE ITEMS, DO YOU MIND IF I GO ON TO ITEM D THAT KIND OF TIES IN WITH THE MASTER PLAN? OKAY.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT IS BEING RECOMMENDED THAT I'D LIKE TO GET SOME FEEDBACK WHERE THE, THE BALL ROLLING ON SOME DISCUSSION IS OUR HOURS OF OPERATION FOR THE LIBRARY.

SO, UM, IF ANY OF YOU WATCHED OR PARTICIPATED IN ANY OF THE, UM, THE SURVEYS OR THE, UH, BOND HEARINGS BACK IN 2018, UM, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE HEARD OVER AND OVER AGAIN WAS THAT, UM, ARE SOME OF OUR BRANCH LIBRARIES, AREN'T OPEN THE NUMBER OF HOURS.

WE NEED THEM TO BE OPEN.

THEY'RE OPEN IN THE AFTERNOONS, BUT THEY'RE NOT OPEN IN THE MORNINGS.

UM, THE LIBRARY IS NOT OPEN EARLY ENOUGH.

SO WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO BRAINSTORM SOME DIFFERENT WAYS TO BE ABLE TO OFFER

[00:30:01]

ADDITIONAL HOURS OF OPERATION WITHOUT HAVING TO ADD ADDITIONAL LIBRARY STAFF.

SO THIS IS NOT, THIS IS KIND OF LIKE CENTRAL LIFE AND SAFETY.

THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE A ONE AND DONE THING DOES WE'RE ACTUALLY GOING THROUGH A PRETTY METHODIC PROCESS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT CAN WE DO EASILY? WHAT CAN WE DO IN THE SHORT TERM? AND WHAT ARE SOME THINGS THAT WE CAN DO TO PLAN FOR LONG-TERM CHANGES TO BE ABLE TO HOPEFULLY OFFER ADDITIONAL HOURS TO THE PUBLIC.

AT SOME POINT, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WAS VERY APPARENT, UM, AGAIN, THROUGH THE PANDEMIC WAS WHEN WE REOPENED TO THE PUBLIC.

UH, AT FIRST WE WERE NOT OPEN IN THE EVENINGS.

AND THEN AS THE NUMBERS CONTINUED TO DECLINE OR STABILIZE THE UNDER, THAT'S NOT WHERE WE'RE AT RIGHT NOW.

UM, WE OPENED EVENING HOURS AND WE ONLY OPEN UNTIL EIGHT O'CLOCK IN THE EVENING THAT CHANGE, YOU KNOW, ORIGINALLY WE WERE OPEN UNTIL NINE O'CLOCK IN THE EVENING, THE CHANGE OF BEING CLOSED OR, UH, BEING OPEN TILL EIGHT O'CLOCK IN THE EVENING HAS BEEN WELL RECEIVED THUS FAR BY THE PUBLIC, AS WELL AS BY STAFF.

THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHEN WE GO BACK AND LOOK AT THE STATISTICS OF HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE COMING IN TO THE LIBRARY BETWEEN THE EIGHT AND NINE O'CLOCK HOUR OR A VERY FEW, WE HAD SOME PEOPLE THAT WERE THERE BEFORE EIGHT O'CLOCK THAT WERE STAYING OVER INTO THAT BETWEEN EIGHT AND NINE HOUR, BUT WE DIDN'T HAVE AS MANY DURING THOSE HOURS AS WE HAD EARLIER IN THE DAY.

.

SO THAT'S ONE OF THE CONSIDERATIONS THAT, UM, THERE'S ACTUALLY TWO THINGS I NEED TO MENTION HERE THAT ONE OF THE CONSIDERATIONS IS FROM HERE ON OUT.

WE WILL ONLY BE OPEN UNTIL EIGHT O'CLOCK AT ALL OF OUR LOCATIONS.

WE WOULD NOT BE OPEN FROM EIGHT TO NINE O'CLOCK IN THE EVENING.

HAVING SAID THAT WE NEED TO ADD BACK THAT, THAT HOUR SOMEWHERE.

AND WHAT I'D LIKE TO DO IS FLIP IT.

AND INSTEAD OF OPENING AT 10 O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING, WE WOULD OPEN AT NINE O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING.

AND THAT IS AGAIN, BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE'VE FOUND IS THAT WE'VE HAD, ESPECIALLY AT THE SOUTH GARLAND BRANCH, WHEN WE'VE OPENED AN HOUR EARLIER FOR SENIOR HOURS, THEY'VE COME, THEY'VE BEEN REALLY EXCITED ABOUT BEING ABLE TO GET INTO A LIBRARY AND HOUR EARLIER THAN WHAT THEY WERE IN THE PAST.

SO ESSENTIALLY WITH THIS MOVE.

AND, UM, WE'D LIKE TO DISCUSS IT AND GO THROUGH AN EVALUATION PROCESS THAT ESSENTIALLY WHAT, UH, CENTRAL WOULD BE DOING IS OPENING AT NINE O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING AND CLOSING AT EIGHT O'CLOCK IN THE EVENING.

AND THEN WE WOULD WORK WITH THE BRANCH LOCATIONS TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT, UM, HOW WE CAN DO SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THEIR CURRENT SCHEDULE WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK ON STAFF.

DOES THAT MAKE SENSE PRETTY WELL? THE SECOND THING THAT WE'RE GOING TO DO IS BARRING ANY MAJOR SETBACK WITH, UM, COVID AND THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS, WE ARE PLANNING TO, UM, IMPLEMENT SUNDAY HOURS BACK, BEGINNING IN JANUARY, 2021.

SO THAT IS ONE THING THAT I THINK WILL BE WARMLY RECEIVED BY THE PUBLIC.

AND WE HAVEN'T BEEN DOING SINCE WAS IT MARCH WILL, IT'S BEEN AWHILE AND IT'S TIME TO ADD THE SUNDAY HOURS BACK, SAME TIMES TWO TO SIX O'CLOCK, BUT WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT BEING ABLE TO DO THAT.

I THINK THE PUBLIC WILL REALLY LIKE THAT.

KAREN.

SO, UM, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, THE HOURS ARE THE HOURS THAT WE ARE OPEN, UM, ARE REPORTED AS ONE COMPONENT TOWARD A PRESENTATION.

CORRECT? IS, ARE ALL THE RULES SORT OF SET ASIDE DURING COVID THANK YOU FOR ASKING THAT QUESTION FOR WHAT WE'RE DOING NOW, FROM WHAT WE UNDERSTAND THIS FISCAL YEAR OR THE FISCAL YEAR THAT WE'LL BE REPORTING ON.

UM, SOON THEY'RE MAKING US WHERE THEY CAN, THEY'RE WORKING WITH LIBRARIES TO TRY TO MAKE SURE THAT INNOVATION STANDARDS ARE SET, BUT THOSE ARE SOME QUESTIONS THAT THE STATE HAS FOR THEMSELVES.

IF IT'S WRITTEN AS, UM, A STATE ORDINANCE OR A, UM, OH, WHAT'S THE WORD I'M LOOKING FOR? WILL HELP ME HERE.

YEAH.

I WOULD SAY LAW, BUT IT'S BASICALLY A GUIDELINE THAT SET OF STANDARDS.

IF IT'S WRITTEN

[00:35:01]

AS PART OF CODE, IT MAY BE CODE.

IF IT'S WRITTEN AS PART OF TEXAS CODE, THEY CAN'T REALLY ADJUST THAT CODE, UM, WITHOUT GOING THROUGH AN AN APPROVAL PROCESS.

BUT FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, AND, AND THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER LIBRARIES THAT ARE ASKING THE SAME QUESTIONS, UM, THEY'RE TRYING TO WORK AND BE AS LENIENT AS POSSIBLE FOR LIBRARIES.

CAUSE NONE OF US HAD BEEN OPENED THE NUMBER OF HOURS THAT WE NEEDED TO BE OPEN THROUGH THEIR PANTRY.

WELL, AND I'M, AND I FULLY SUPPORT THE DECISIONS THAT HAVE BEEN MADE.

UM, SOME OF, SOME OF WHICH YOU HAD CONTROL OVER AND MANY OF WHICH YOU DIDN'T, BUT REALLY JUST CURIOUS TO KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN FROM HERE.

I THINK WE ARE TOO A LITTLE BIT.

WE HAVE A COUPLE OF MEETINGS SET UP, ARE SCRAMBLING TO GET SOME WEBINARS SET WITH THE STATE TO BE ABLE TO HELP LIBRARIES THROUGH THE, UM, REPORTING THOSE NUMBERS TO THE STATE BEGINNING IN JANUARY, TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW WE'RE GOING TO DO THAT.

AND DOES THIS MEAN THIS? DOES THAT MEAN THAT THEY ALL DESPERATELY WANT TO KEEP OUR ACCREDITATION? YEAH.

AND THEY'VE EVEN TALKED, YOU KNOW, PROGRAMMING HAS CHANGED.

THAT'S ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE REPORT AND IT'S USUALLY FACE TO FACE AND NOW ALMOST ALL OF OUR, WELL, ALL OF OUR PROGRAMMING IS VIRTUAL.

SO HOW'S THAT GOING TO COUNT? I MEAN, YOU HAVE A LOT OF QUESTIONS AND THEY'RE WORKING ON TO ANSWER WITH THAT.

THE GOOD NEWS IS THE PROGRAMMING DOESN'T COUNT TOWARDS ACCREDITATION.

IT'S NOT ONE OF THOSE STANDARDS THAT WE, UM, IS A MAKE OR BREAK LIKE THE, LIKE THE HOURS.

BUT I THINK, AND WE'LL, YOU MAY BE ABLE TO CORRECT ME ON THIS.

I THINK THE HOURS OF OPERATION IS REALLY THE BIG THING THAT LIBRARIES ARE FACING RIGHT NOW AS, AS FAR WELL THAT, AND THE MAINTENANCE OF EFFORTS, UH, THE LIBRARIES ARE FACED WITH RIGHT NOW OF TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT WE MEET THAT STANDARD FUNDING.

THOSE ARE THE TWO BIGGIES, BUT WE CAN COME BACK AS SOON AS WE LEARN MORE.

UM, AND PRESENT THAT, THOSE FINDINGS, IF THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED IN THIS TERRY, AS, AS WE KNOW MORE, I MEAN, IT'S, IT'S NOT, UH, IT'S NOT A PRESSING ISSUE AND IT'S NOT SOMETHING THAT WE REALLY HAVE ANY CONTROL OVER, BUT, UM, BUT WHEN IT'S TIME TO, TO FILL OUT THE REPORT AND SUBMITTED, IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO KNOW.

OKAY.

ANYTHING ELSE ON HOURS OF OPERATION? NO, MA'AM JUST ANY, IF YOU HAD ANY FEEDBACK OR ANY THOUGHTS DON'T NECESSARILY NEED THEM TONIGHT, BUT AS WE MOVE THROUGH THAT PROCESS, BE VERY INTERESTED TO GET ANY FEEDBACK FROM THEM FROM THE BOARD.

OKAY, WE'LL GO TO MISCELLANEOUS.

THEN WE THERE THAT WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THAT WE STILL HAVE LOTS OF VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING GOING ON.

WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT OUR VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING.

WE'VE GOT SOME GREAT TEEN PROGRAMS THAT WE'VE HAD THE LAST, UM, MONTH OR TWO AND SOME, SOME MORE THAT IS PLANNED.

UH, WE HAD, UM, ARE GOING TO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO GO SPEAK TO THE GARLAND YOUTH COUNCIL IN JANUARY.

AND, UH, WE'RE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT OPPORTUNITY AND DEFINITELY WANT, UM, THERE TO BE A COMPONENT THAT TEENS ARE INVITED AS PART OF THE WALNUT CREEK PROCESS PLANNING PROCESS, UH, TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THEIR SAY IN WHAT THEY'RE LOOKING FOR IN THAT PARTICULAR BRANCH LOCATION AND ALL BRANCH LOCATIONS, ALL LIBRARY LOCATIONS FOR THAT MATTER.

BUT I'M VERY EXCITED ABOUT OUR PROGRAM.

DON'T FORGET THE THOUSAND BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM, TOO, THAT WE'RE PUSHING AND SUPER EXCITED ABOUT THAT PROGRAM.

AND, UM, HOW'S THE WALK ACROSS TEXAS PROGRAM GOING.

I'VE SEEN A FEW THINGS ABOUT THAT.

I'M NOT REALLY CHECKED IN ON THAT IN A WHILE.

THE LAST TIME I LOOKED CENTRAL WAS LEADING, BUT I THINK NORTH WAS CLOSE ON THEIR HEELS, BUT THAT'S BEEN A COUPLE OF WEEKS.

SO IF YOU'RE NOT PARTICIPATING IN TRAVERSE, TEXAS, FINE.

I DON'T KNOW.

THEY'LL TAKE MY MOUSE.

AND SOME OF THEM, YOUR LIBRARY BOARD, I HAVE OVER A THOUSAND NOW, OH MAN, NEED THOSE MILES.

WE DEFINITELY NEED THOSE MILES.

I ALWAYS STILL HAVE LOTS OF CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS. AND WE'RE WORKING ON SOME ADDITIONAL ADULT PROGRAMS RIGHT NOW, TOO.

I WILL SAY WE'RE AGAIN.

WE'RE NOT, I THINK I SAID THIS LAST MONTH, WE'RE NOT PLANNING ANY IN-PERSON PROGRAMS THROUGH THE END OF THIS CALENDAR YEAR, BUT WE'LL REEVALUATE IN THE SPRING TIME.

ONE THING THAT WE'RE TRYING TO GO THROUGH AND, UM, PREPARE FOR IS POSSIBLY OFFERING SOME IN-PERSON PROGRAMS OUTSIDE

[00:40:01]

IN PARKS.

IT SEEMS TO BE A SAFER WAY TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE, HAVE SOME IN-PERSON PROGRAMMING AND SERVICES WITHOUT HAVING TO BE INSIDE AND RECYCLED.

SO THAT WOULD PROBABLY BE IN THE SPRING TIME.

WE'LL START WITH THAT PROCESS.

UH, I'M EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

YES.

THAT'S ALL UNDER MISCELLANEOUS SOCIETY.

OKAY.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANYTHING FOR A FUTURE AGENDA ITEM THAT YOU WANT TO BRING UP TONIGHT? WELL, IT LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE GONE THROUGH THE AGENDA.

IF THERE'S NOTHING ELSE, ANYBODY HAVE ANYTHING THEY WANT TO COMMENT ON OR SAY BEFORE I JOINED THE MEETING, APPRECIATE ALL YOUR BEING HERE.

AND IF THERE'S NO OTHER FURTHER BUSINESS, I WILL ADJOURN THE MEETING.

THANK YOU.
