SO, LIKE MAYOR LEMAY'S BEEN FIGHTING TO GET MORE VACCINES IN THE CITY OF GARLAND, WHICH HAS CONTINUED TO BE GOOD AND TOLD THE, I'M SORRY? GO AHEAD. CBS 11 NEWS SAYS THERE'S A LOT OF FRUSTRATIONS ON THESE SHIPMENT OF VACCINES. AND THEN THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH HUMAN SERVICES SAYS THERE'S A CHOOSE TO PICK OR CHOOSE. WELL, LIKE MS. RENEE SAID, WE HAVE TO BE PATIENT. AND LIKE LET ME TELL YOU WHAT MR. CHESTER SAID. HE SAID THAT IT HAS BEEN THIS COVID-19 HAS BEEN KICKING HIS BUTTS FOR ALMOST 12 MONTHS AND ALMOST A YEAR. AND, YOU KNOW, AS COUNCIL MEMBER AUBIN SAID, THE LAST CHRISTMAS WHEN HE SAID ABOUT THE ADULT ICU BEDS ARE BEEN VERY LOW SINCE CHRISTMAS. PEOPLE JUST DON'T WANT TO LISTEN. BUT, YOU KNOW, TO ME, THAT'S THE BEST INDICATOR, ONE OF THE VERY BEST INDICATORS OF THE IMPACT OF THIS DISEASE ON OUR COMMUNITY. ONE IN 10 GARLAND RESIDENTS HAVE BEEN DIRECTLY IMPACTED BY THIS DISEASE BY TESTING POSITIVE. NOW, THE BRIGHT SIDE IS THE CASE COUNTS SEEM TO BE TRENDING DOWNWARD. AND WE CERTAINLY HOPE THAT THAT TREND CONTINUES. YOU CAN SEE THE CASE COUNT NUMBER THERE AT THE BOTTOM IN Y TWO THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED EIGHTY THREE. THOSE ARE THE ACTIVE CASES. SO THOSE ARE THE ONES THOSE ARE THE INDIVIDUALS THAT RECENTLY TESTED POSITIVE. AND THEY'RE STILL WITHIN THAT 10 DAY PERIOD BEFORE THEY MEET THE END OF MONITORING CRITERIA, THAT REPRESENTS ABOUT NINE POINT EIGHT PERCENT OF THE TOTAL CASELOAD. THE GREEN NUMBER, TWENTY ONE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED SEVENTY ONE. OF COURSE, THOSE ARE THE INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE BEEN INFECTED AND HAVE PROGRESSED THROUGH THE DISEASE AND ARE CONSIDERED THEY'VE MET THE CDC DEFINITION, THE 10 DAYS OF 10 DAYS AND END OF MONITORING CRITERIA. SO THOSE ARE THE FOLKS THAT HAVE RECOVERED. UNFORTUNATELY, WE'VE ADDED TO OUR DEATH COUNT, WHICH IS UP TO TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN TOTAL RESIDENTS DECEASED FROM COVID-19 RELATED ILLNESS. NINE HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN ARE COVID PATIENTS, WHICH IS A DECREASE, PRETTY SIGNIFICANT OF THREE HUNDRED TWELVE FROM THE LAST REPORT, WHICH PUTS THE PERCENTAGE OF HOSPITAL CAPACITY AT SIXTEEN POINT THREE SEVEN PERCENT, WHICH YOU CAN SEE THAT IT'S BEEN TRENDING DOWNWARD, AT LEAST FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. ON TODAY'S HOSPITAL CENSUS. THE TOTAL NUMBER, WHICH IS THAT NUMBER IN THE LEFT BOTTOM LEFT CORNER IS FOUR THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED FIFTY TWO. AVAILABLE STAFFED INPATIENT BEDS, SEVEN HUNDRED AND ELEVEN, WHICH IS FORTY SEVEN MORE THAN THE LAST REPORT. AND THEN A PRETTY SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN THE AVAILABLE STAFFED ICU BEDS. IT ON LAST REPORT IT WAS 15. IT'S UP TO FORTY ONE AND THEN A TOTAL OF VENTILATORS AVAILABLE BEING FIFTEEN HUNDRED AND NINETEEN. THIS IS JUST A ZOOMED IN VERSION, IT WAS GETTING REALLY HARD TO SEE THE GRAPH, SO WE CUT IT DOWN FROM BASICALLY THE LOW POINT AROUND SEPTEMBER ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF THE YEAR. FOR THE FEW FOLKS WHO MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER ONLINE, THEY CAN CALL OUR HOTLINE AT (972)205-3900. SO FOLKS WILL ENTER OFF OF [INAUDIBLE] OR COUNTRY CLUB ROADS AND COME TO THE CHECKPOINT. AND COUNCILWOMAN MORRIS, I KNOW YOU'VE BEEN BY OUR SIDE THE WHOLE TIME WATCHING THAT AND YOU'VE HIT THE HORNET'S NEST, AS HAVE WE. IN FACT, WE HIT IT REALLY HARD BACK IN AUGUST OF TWENTY EIGHTEEN. SO WHAT I WANTED TO SHOW YOU IS A SENIOR DEVELOPMENT THAT IS POSSIBLE RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM MR. HUGHES PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT. AGAIN, ALL OF THESE ARE PROPERTIES THAT WE'VE DEVELOPED IN TEXAS. SO WE'RE LOOKING AT 60 UNITS OR FEWER, IT WILL BE INDEPENDENT LIVING WITH MARKET RATE UNITS AT TWENTY FIVE PERCENT OF THE TOTAL, ALL BASED ON THIS SAME DESIGN AND STYLE. AND AGAIN, THESE ARE A RANGE FROM HISTORIC RENOVATIONS IN TEXAS TO NEW CONSTRUCTION OF THREE STORY BUILDINGS THAT WE'RE LOOKING AT AS CLOSE AS CANYON LAKE AND ARLINGTON. AGAIN, WE COULD SPEND ALL DAY GOING THROUGH WHAT WE DO AND HOW PRETTY THEY LOOK. I DON'T THINK THAT'S WHAT'S REALLY IMPORTANT TO DISCUSS TONIGHT, AND I'M NOT HERE TO TEACH YOU ABOUT TAX CREDITS OR HOW THEY'RE SCORED BY THE STATE, BUT I DO WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT YOU HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DECISION ON WHERE AND WHAT, RATHER THAN LETTING AUSTIN MAKE THAT DECISION FOR YOU. AND IT IS JUST THAT SIMPLE. WE ALL HAVE SCORES WITHIN A POINT OR TWO OF ONE ANOTHER TONIGHT. AND IF THAT IS WHAT COUNCIL AND THE CITIZENRY WANTS, THEN BY ALL MEANS MOVE FORWARD WITH THAT. I THINK THAT WOULD GIVE A CLEAR INDICATION TO THE REST OF US THAT OUR MONEY, WHICH IS ALREADY BEEN SPENT, WOULD BE WELL SERVED TO NOT SPEND ANY LONGER. AND I KNOW COUNCILWOMAN MORRIS WOULD LOVE DEARLY TO HAVE TWO PROPERTIES OR TWO PROJECTS AWARDED ON AN ALLOCATION OF CREDITS IN HER DISTRICT. BUT AS I HAVE TOLD HER THROUGHOUT THIS PROCESS, WE KNOW IT'S SIMPLY NOT POSSIBLE. AND THAT IS NOT A LEVERAGE POINT TO TRY AND SWAY.
