AND WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK ON THESE ISSUES. DURING THIS TIME, WE THE PEOPLE ARE ENTITLED TO REPRESENTATION WHO WILL DO THE RESEARCH FROM THE STATISTICS AND WHO WILL FIND THE SCHOLARLY ARTICLES. AS SUCH WE ARE ALSO ENTITLED TO REPRESENTATION WHO CAN DO THESE THINGS OR KNOW HOW TO ASK FOR HELP TO GET IT DONE. THIS IS PARTICULARLY TRUE WITH ANY COUNCIL DECISION WHICH MAY IMPACT POLICE OR FIRE. WE NEED YOU TO LOOK AT HOW ANY DECISION AFFECTS CRIME RATES, QUALITY OF LIFE AND OR PUBLIC SAFETY. OUR POLICE HAVE ENOUGH ON THEIR PLATES AND DESERVE THE RESPECT OF THIS COUNCIL BY TAKING CRIME RATES INTO CONSIDERATION AND OR THE IMPACT OF DECISIONS THIS COUNCIL MAKES ON THE POLICE OFFICERS JOBS. LASTLY, I'M A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED IN HOW THE ADU POLICY DISCUSSION PLAYED OUT LAST NIGHT. I WATCHED ALL THREE OF THE DSU VIDEOS AFTER VIEWING THEM. IT IS APPARENT THE RESIDENTS OF GARLAND DESERVE MORE RIGOR IN THE PROCESS. IF YOU ARE GOING TO CONDUCT OUTREACH IN THE COMMUNITY, YOU CONDUCT IN THE WHOLE COMMUNITY, NOT JUST CERTAIN DISTRICTS AND NO QUOTE UNQUOTE. WELL, I TALKED TO SOME CITIZEN GROUPS IN MY AREA. COMMUNITY OUTREACH REQUIRES OUTREACH TO THE COMMUNITY, ALL OF THE COMMUNITY, IN THESE VIDEOS. THERE WAS NO SUGGESTION OR VIBE THE RECOMMENDATION WAS GOING TO BE NO CHANGE. IN FACT, IT APPEARED TO BE QUITE THE OPPOSITE UP UNTIL THE COUNCIL MEETING LAST NIGHT. IF THE RECOMMENDATION COMING OUT OF COMMITTEE WAS GOING TO BE NO CHANGE, WHY MAKE THE WHOLE PRESENTATION AND GIVE ALL THE INFORMATION. IT IS APPARENT. SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE LAST COMMITTEE MEETING AND THE COUNCIL MEETING, YOU WENT FROM A POSITIVE RECOMMENDATION TO NO CHANGE, WHICH IS THE RIGHT THING, BUT CANDIDLY, SHOULD HAVE NEVER MADE IT OUT OF COMMITTEE. IF NO CHANGE WAS THE RECOMMENDATION OR RESULT FROM THE LAST COMMITTEE MEETING, WHICH WATCHING THE VIDEO, IT WAS NOT. PLEASE ALSO NOTE, I WILL BE ASKING AND CONTINUING TO PUSH FOR ANSWERS ON PROGRESS IN REGARDS TO WHAT GPNL AND WHAT OUR CITY, ALONG WITH YOU, CAN DO BETTER TO HELP WITH WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE FEBRUARY 2021 STORM.
