THE DATA ANALYTICS ARE FUN FOR ME, BUT YOU COULD SEE THE TRENDS THERE FROM LAST OCTOBER. AS WE WERE REALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF COVID. WE STARTED TO SEE SOME WINTERTIME DECLINES AND YOU SEE THAT ONE HICCUP THAT OCCURRED IN FEBRUARY 21ST, THAT WAS REALLY THE TIME WHEN WE HAD THE FREEZE. IT SEEMS LIKE WAS A LOT LONGER AGO THAN JUST LAST FEBRUARY, BUT HOPEFULLY WE DON'T SEE THAT AGAIN. BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART TO LOOK AT HERE, I THINK, IS REALLY OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS THAT ARE NOTED, YOU CAN SEE A GRADUAL TREND LINE UP. WE'RE SHOWING INCREASED RIDERSHIP, AND THAT'S ULTIMATELY WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE. SO. SO TAKING A PEEK AT THE CURRENT SERVICES, I SHOW THIS MAP REALLY TO REFLECT ON WHAT WE HAVE CURRENTLY AS WE GET TO THE DART ZOOM, YOU'RE GOING TO SEE ANOTHER MAP HERE IN JUST A FEW MINUTES THAT'LL SHOW YOU WHAT THE REVISED BUS NETWORK IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE. AND AGAIN, THE IDEA IS REALLY TO INCREASE FREQUENCIES WHICH HELP INCREASE RIDERSHIP AND MAKE THE SYSTEM ALL MORE EFFICIENT. YOU COULD SEE A LOT OF TIGHT GRID LINES ON THIS MAP. YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THE MEANDERING ROUTES THAT ARE THERE AND SOME SOME GAPS IN COVERAGE AS WELL. SO AT A HIGH LEVEL, WE HAVE ONE RAIL LINE, THE BLUE LINE. IT'S GOT TWO STATIONS. YOU'RE PROBABLY FAMILIAR WITH ALL THAT. WE ALSO HAD TWO TRANSIT CENTERS. GARLAND IS A VERY HEAVY BUS RIDERSHIP. AND AND SO WE HAVE THESE TWO TRANSIT CENTERS AT SOUTH GARLAND AND LAKE RAY HUBBARD. THERE'S 19 DIFFERENT BUS ROUTES. YOU'VE GOT ALL DIFFERENT FREQUENCIES AND RIDERSHIP LOOKS TO THAT. AND THEN WE HAVE THE GO LINK ONE GO LEAGUE ZONE. AND WE ALSO PARATRANSIT AND VAN POOLS. SO THE DART ZOOM NETWORK, IF YOU RECALL, WE STARTED THIS A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND YOU GOT YOU GUYS SAW LOTS OF PRESENTATIONS THAT SHOWED COVERAGE AS ONE FAR SIDE OF THE EQUATION WHERE WE CAN GET LOTS OF COVERAGE. SO YOU HAVE A SET AMOUNT OF CAPITAL THAT BE IN THE BUSSES AND DRIVERS LABOR FORCE. THAT'S WHAT DART HAS. YOU HAVE THE COVERAGE THAT'S OUT THERE, BUT YOU SEE VERY INFREQUENT COVERAGE OR ROUTE ROUTES OR FREQUENCIES, SO YOU MIGHT SEE A BUS RUNNING ONCE AN HOUR. THEN THERE WAS ANOTHER SIDE THAT IS FREQUENCY. AND IF YOU WANT TO INCREASE RIDERSHIP, YOU INCREASE THE FREQUENCY. SO YOU HAVE HIGH DENSITY TYPES OF ROUTES THAT COME EVERY FIVE, 10 MINUTES, 15 MINUTES, HOWEVER YOU WANT TO LOOK AT IT, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE AS MUCH COVERAGE. SO THERE WAS A BALANCE THAT THE BOARD WENT THROUGH AND TRY TO DEVELOP. WHERE IS THE RIGHT DIAL FOR THIS TO FIT? IS IT TO HAVE, YOU KNOW, MOSTLY COVERAGE OR IS TO HAVE MOSTLY RIDERSHIP AND YOU GET A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN, YOU KNOW, DIFFERENT PEOPLE WHAT THEY MIGHT THINK IS MORE IMPORTANT? THE BOARD ULTIMATELY SETTLED AT ABOUT 70 TO 75 PERCENT FOCUS ON RIDERSHIP AND TWENTY FIVE TO 30 PERCENT ON COVERAGE. SO THAT'S WHAT YOU'LL SEE THAT WE REALLY WORKED WITH TO COME UP WITH THE BEST PLAN THAT FITS THOSE METRICS. AND SO SOME OF THE KEY ISSUES THAT WE FOUND WERE THE GO LINK COVERAGE AREAS. AND WHAT I WOULD NOTE HERE IS YOU SEE MUCH MORE OF A GRID PATTERN NORTH SOUTH EAST WEST GARLAND DOES HAVE PRETTY GOOD STREETS LINED UP FOR NORTH SOUTH EAST WEST. YOU WON'T SEE AS MANY MEANDERING ROUTES, AND IT'S HARD TO SEE ON THIS MAP. BUT IF YOU LOOK AT THE BASS PRO PENINSULA OUT THERE, YOU DON'T SEE ANY ROUTES, BUT YOU SEE A SHADING IN YELLOW AND ON THAT YELLOW AREA THAT IS THE GO LINK SERVICE. SO IN THOSE AREAS, WE WOULD USE MORE OF THE ON CALL TYPE OF SERVICE. THERE WAS A LOT OF FEEDBACK AROUND PEOPLE NEEDING TO GET TO WORK TO AND FROM WORK ON THE WEEKENDS OR IN THE EVENINGS. SO SEVEN DAY SERVICE THERE YOU GOT IMPROVED ACCESS AND COVERAGE. ANY THOUGHTS OR ANYTHING YOU WANT TO ADD ON THE THE ZOOM PIECE? JUST THAT WE DESIGNED THIS NEW NETWORK TO TRY TO PROVIDE BETTER ACCESS TO JOB OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN A 60 MINUTE TRANSIT RIDE. AND SO WHAT YOU'LL FIND IS THAT IN EVERY DEMOGRAPHIC GROUP, WE ACTUALLY INCREASED ACCESS FOR PEOPLE TO ACCESS JOBS. SO IT'S A GREAT, GREAT STORY FOR US. ALL RIGHT. AND JUST SPEAKING ABOUT THE THE VETERANS SERVICES, I THINK WHAT WE WANT TO DO IS MAKE SURE WE HAVE THE LOCATION FOR WHERE THE VETERANS CAN ACTUALLY GO FOR THE SERVICES. IF IT'S MULTIPLE LOCATIONS WITHIN THE AREA AND THEN FIND OUT WHAT THE LINES OR ROUTES ARE THAT ACTUALLY SERVE THOSE PARTICULAR LOCATIONS SO WE CAN GET THAT INFORMATION OVER TO YOU AND THEN FIGURE OUT WHICH ONES ARE CONNECTING IN WITH THE VARIOUS AREAS IN GARLAND WHERE PEOPLE ARE COMING FROM. I THINK IT'S TRYING TO IDENTIFY WHERE THEY'RE AT AND WE ACTUALLY ARE WORKING, I THINK MAYBE GARLAND MIGHT BE INVOLVED IN SUMMIT THAT WE'RE HAVING. I THINK MAYBE THIS FRIDAY TO TALK ABOUT HOW WE MIGHT PARTNER WITH ALL THE DIFFERENT SERVICE AREA CITIES TO DO SOME SURVEY WORK THROUGH THE MEADOWS FOUNDATION TO FIND OUT WHAT THE EXTENT OF OUR HOMELESS POPULATION IS, WHERE THEY ARE AND HOW WE CAN BEST SERVE THEM. AND SO THAT WOULD INCLUDE HOMELESS VETERANS IN THAT POPULATION THAT WE WOULD BE STUDYING. SO WE'RE TRYING TO DO SOME OUTREACH. BUT WE ORIGINALLY STARTED DOING IT JUST FOR DART, FOR OUR SYSTEM. BUT WHAT WE WERE FINDING AS WE WENT OUT AND TALKED TO ALL THE DIFFERENT SERVICE AREA CITIES WAS THAT SEVERAL OTHER CITIES WERE TRYING TO DO THEIR OWN WORK WITH MEADOWS FOUNDATION. AND SO WE THOUGHT, WELL, LET'S JUST POOL RESOURCES AND TRY TO DO IT ALL TOGETHER BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, IF WE HAVE A HOMELESS POPULATION THAT'S MOVING FROM CITY TO CITY AND POSSIBLY DOING IT ON DART, YOU KNOW, WE WANT TO CAPTURE IT ALL WITHIN THE SAME STUDY, IF WE CAN. OK. AND ONE LITTLE QUESTION. CURRENTLY, HOW CAN VETERANS ACCESS BUS PASSES? AND I'VE HEARD TWO VERSIONS. I'VE HEARD THAT THEY WERE FREE THEN I'VE HEARD THAT THERE WAS A CHARGE. INSERT THE METER KEY INTO THE CURVED SLOT ON THE LID AND TURN IT COUNTERCLOCKWISE UNTIL YOU FEEL IT UNLOCK, USING THE KEY AS A HOOK. REMOVE THE LID SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY SET THE LID ASIDE. TAKE CARE NOT TO DAMAGE THE WIRES ATTACHED TO THE LID. THESE WIRES HELP THE CITY OF GARLAND. READ YOUR WATER METER QUICKLY AND ACCURATELY. CAREFULLY PLACED THE CUT OFF WRENCH OVER THE SHUTOFF VALVE KNOB AND SLOWLY TURNED THE WRENCH CLOCKWISE WITH A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE INTO IT WON'T TURN ANYMORE. BE CAREFUL NOT TO FORCE THE SHUT OFF VALVE. IF THE KNOB HAS NOT BEEN USED IN A WHILE, IT COULD BE LOCKED UP. FORCING THIS VALVE CAN DAMAGE YOUR METER.
