UM, I CAN TELL YOU TOO THAT, UH, HE REMAINS EMPLOYED HERE, BUT HE DOES NOT REMAIN ACTIVE AS A, UH, AN OFFICER WHO CAN ENFORCE THE LAW AND HE'S ON RESTRICTED DUTY AND WILL BE ON RESTRICTIVE DUTY FOR SOME TIME. MOST OF THAT IS THE PROPERTY CRIMES. UH, THE FAMILY VIOLENCE CRIMES ARE UP JUST A LITTLE BIT. UH, THE PROPERTY CRIMES ARE DOWN SIGNIFICANTLY. IF YOU GO BACK TO FEBRUARY, UH, YOU CAN SAY THAT OUR EMS RESPONSE TIME IS ABOUT FIVE MINUTES AND SEVEN SECONDS. UH, SINCE THE COVID IMPACT HAS REALLY HIT, YOU'RE SEEING THAT NUMBER JUMP UP AROUND FIVE 20 TO 5 25, [00:10:01] UH, ON EMS CALLS. THIS IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO, WE'RE HAVING TO GO DOWN A LITTLE BIT AND, UH, DAWN PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT, UH, BETWEEN THE MASK AND, UH, OUR PROTECTION AND EVERYTHING ELSE FOR MAKING ENTRY. AND WE HAVE TO DO THIS ON ALL PATIENTS. UH, WHAT WE DISCOVERED EARLY IN IS THAT THE, WE WERE ENCOUNTERING A LOT OF PATIENTS THAT WE DIDN'T THINK WERE COVID PATIENTS. THEY DIDN'T HAVE SYMPTOMS OF COVID, UH, BUT AFTER WE TAKE THEM TO THE HOSPITAL AND THEY'D BE TESTED, THEY WERE POSITIVE FOR COVID. SO, UH, WE WERE EXPOSED IN A LOT OF OUR PEOPLE. UH, WE HAD REALLY HIGH NUMBERS OF PEOPLE SITTING OUT, UH, FOR INTAKE OR SICK AT ANY GIVEN TIME. SO, UH, THE RESPONSE TIMES ON EMS CALLS IS SIGNIFICANTLY, UH, INCREASED, UH, NUMBER OF CALLS. UH, INITIALLY WE SAW A DROP IN THE NUMBER OF EMS CALLS. THIS WAS A COMMUNITY RESPONSE THAT THEY DID NOT WANT TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL. UH, SO THEY WEREN'T CALLING NINE 11. UH, SINCE THAT TIME, OUR CALLS ARE BACK ON TRACK, UH, TO WHERE THEY WERE PRE COVID. UH, FOR THE MOST PART, IT STILL FLUCTUATES EVERY DAY. UH, BUT WE ARE SEEING A LOT OF THAT. THE FIRE RESPONSES, NUMBER OF FIRES DURING THE INITIAL STAGES OF COVID WERE PRETTY LOW. UM, AND WE ATTRIBUTE A LOT OF THAT TO THE PEOPLE WERE ISOLATED AT HOME. SO THEY WERE AT HOME WHEN THEY FIRE WOULD NORMALLY BE ABLE TO START, UH, THEY, THEY WERE THERE TO EITHER PUT IT OUT THERE TO DO PREVENTATIVE MEASURES ANYWAY. SO WE DID SEE A DECREASE IN NUMBER OF FIRES. THAT NUMBER HAS CLIMBED BACK TO WHERE IT WAS PRE COVID. AGAIN, WE'RE SEEING QUITE A FEW FIRES HERE AS ABRASIVE, SO. OKAY. IF YOU READ THROUGH THEM, YOU'LL SEE THAT ONE OF WHICH, UH, THE MEDICAL ALL THE WELL, ALL THE TIME, HE'S AN ENVELOPE. THIS GUY NEEDS A LOT OF HELP. SO WE STRESSED OUR FIREFIGHTERS DO THAT FOR OUR FAMILY BEING THE COMMUNITY OF GARLAND. SO THEY GO TO ALL SORTS OF MEASURES. UM, YOU KNOW, ANOTHER GUY THAT WAS AT THE LANDFILL, UH, SLASHED HIS LEG OPEN. HE DIDN'T NEED TO GO BY AMBULANCE, BUT HE DID NEED TO GO GET SOME STITCHES. UH, BUT HE WAS IN A PRECARIOUS PLACE THERE, THE LANDFILLS. SO THE GUYS STABILIZING CONTROLLED HIS BLEEDING, GOT HIM TO A PLACE THAT HIS WALK AND PICK HIM UP. AND THEN HIS WORDS THAT'S WHEN TROUBLE BEGAN WHEN THEY TURNED IT BACK OVER TO HIS WIFE. BUT, UH, SO YOU NEED, AND THEY STEP IN AND TRY TO FULFILL THAT NEED. AND THEN THERE'S MORE WARD IN THERE THAT WE'RE EXTREMELY PROUD OF. UH, FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS NOW, WE'VE BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION AND THEIR MISSION LIFELINE PROGRAM. THIS IS ABOUT, I BELIEVE, NINE YEARS IN A ROW THAT WE'VE BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION. SO IT WAS KIND OF A BIG DEAL THAT WE'RE REALLY PROUD OF ON, ON CARDIAC PATIENTS. OUR GUYS ARE RECOGNIZING THAT QUICK, UH, THROUGH THE, THE TOOLS THAT THEY CARRY ON THE AMBULANCE AND GETTING THEM DELIVERED TO THE RIGHT HOSPITAL, WHERE THEY CAN GET INTERVENTION AND, AND GET THEM TO THE CATHETERIZATION LABS, UH, TO MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIVES.
