MAY 4TH

[Parks and Recreation Board Meeting on May 4, 2022.]

AT 7:00 PM.

THIS IS THE GARLAND PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MEETING, REGULAR MEETING.

AND I CALL THIS MEETING TO ORDER.

THE FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS IS APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES.

DO I HAVE A MOTION, MOTION TO APPROVE MOTION BY TAMALE SECOND BY JERRY AND I GOT EVERYBODY ON HERE ALL IN FAVOR, SAY AYE.

AND RAISE YOUR HAND.

THE MOTION CARRIES TO ANYBODY OPPOSED.

OKAY.

NEXT HOLLABACK ALIBI RECREATION CENTER, PROJECT UPDATE.

AND I PRESUME THAT MUST BE DELETE.

YES, SIR.

OKAY.

WELL, GOOD EVENING PART BOARD MEMBERS.

UM, SO LAST MONTH YOU ALL REQUESTED AN UPDATE ON THE HOLLABAUGH RECREATION CENTER, UH, PROJECT.

SO WE'VE GOT SOME SLIDES TO SHARE WITH YOU TONIGHT ON THAT.

THIS IS A REALLY PRETTY DRAWING THAT YOU'RE SEEING ON THIS FIRST SLIDE OF THAT'S THE NEW ENTRY THERE.

AND I'LL TALK A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THAT, UM, IN A COUPLE OF SLIDES, SO LET'S SEE, WE'LL GET STARTED.

SO THIS SLIDE HAS THE FLOOR PLAN.

UM, AND SO NOT, MAY NOT LOOK LIKE THIS.

DOES THAT LOOK YELLOW TO YOU GUYS, THAT YELLOW AREA, THAT'S ALL NEW CONSTRUCTION.

AND SO THAT NEW CONSTRUCTION INCLUDES A GYMNASIUM BECAUSE YOU KNOW, THERE WASN'T ONE AT HOLLOWELL AND NEW MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM, SOME RESTROOMS AND STORAGE SPACE.

AND THEN OF COURSE, A LONG CORRIDOR TO CONNECT, UM, THE BUILDING, UM, THE AREAS THAT YOU SEE, UM, IT'S ONE AREA THAT'S BLUE, AND THIS IS RENOVATION.

THAT AREA IS EXISTING, A BUILDING THAT IS BEING RENOVATED.

UM, IT'S THE LOBBY AREA, THE EXISTING, UH, FRONT DESK CONTROL AREA.

AND THEN WE'RE ADDING SOME SPACE INTO THE FITNESS ROOM.

SO ONE OF THE BIG CHANGES IS, I DON'T KNOW IF I HAVE A POINTER, BUT THIS LITTLE AREA RIGHT HERE.

UM, APPROXIMATELY THAT WAS, UH, OUR FRONT DOOR, I GUESS IT'S MORE LIKE PROBABLY RIGHT AROUND IN HERE.

THIS IS WHERE THE EXISTING FRONT DOOR WAS.

AND SO THAT IS GOING TO BE MOVED OVER TO THE WEST SIDE, WHICH IS THE, UH, PICTURE ON TOP THAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT.

SO THAT'S GOING TO BE THE NEW ENTRY AND THAT NEW ENTRY SHARES.

UM, IT'S PART OF THE ENTRY OF THE PLAZA AND THAT PLAZA WILL BE BETWEEN THE LIBRARY AND THE RECREATION CENTER.

SO SOME GOOD CONNECTIVITY THERE.

AND THEN, BUT WHAT THAT ALLOWS US TO DO IS, UM, GIVE THAT FITNESS ROOM OVER THERE, CAUSE IT'S A PRETTY SMALL FITNESS ROOM, UM, SOME EXTRA SPACE.

AND THEN THAT BOTTOM PICTURE THAT YOU'RE LOOKING AT THAT TO VIEW, UM, FROM THE GYMNASIUM.

SO YOU CAN SEE THE, UM, WINDOWS THAT ARE THERE ON THE BOTTOM.

SO THAT WILL LOOK REALLY NICE AT NIGHT, ESPECIALLY JUST WHATEVER ACTIVITY IS GOING ON IN THERE.

AND THEN BEING ABLE TO SEE OUT TO THE PLAZA AND ANY ACTIVITIES THAT ARE GOING ON.

AND THEN THAT PLAZA AREA IS STILL BEING WORKED THROUGH IN DESIGN.

YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND WE HAVE TWO DIFFERENT, UM, DESIGN TEAMS WORKING ON THESE PROJECTS.

AND SO WE'VE HAD TO DO SOME COORDINATION AND MAKE SURE WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE.

AND SOME, SOME OF US HAVE PARTS OF THE PROJECT AND SOME OF US HAVE OTHER PARTS.

AND SO, BUT THE INTENTION OF THAT POSITIVE SPACE IS TO BE A SHARED SPACE, SPECIAL EVENTS.

WE COULD SHOW MOVIES OUT THERE.

WE COULD HAVE, YOU KNOW, BANDS OR, UM, YOU KNOW, JUST ANY KIND OF SPECIAL EVENTS.

SO WHETHER IT'S THE LIBRARY OR THE REC CENTER, OR THE TWO OF THEM DOING SOME, UM, COORDINATION AND DOING AN ACTIVITY TOGETHER, THESE ARE JUST SOME ELEVATIONS SO THAT YOU CAN SEE, UM, THE, THE DESIGN TEAM THAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING WITH, THEY WERE REALLY, UM, WANTING TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY, YOU KNOW, DIDN'T JUST DESIGN SOMETHING THAT LOOKED COMPLETELY OUT OF PLACE WITH THE EXISTING BUILDING.

SO THESE ARE THE DIFFERENT ELEVATIONS THAT YOU WILL SEE OF THE BUILDING.

OF COURSE, THE GYMNASIUM IS A BIG PORTION OF THAT.

UM, AND ALL OF THAT, THAT'S GOING TO BE A METAL, UM, STRUCTURE AND, UM, AND THEN GLASS ON THE BOTTOM.

SO THIS IS A PICTURE, A SKETCH OF THE MULTIPURPOSE ROOM.

SO THIS IS A NEW MULTIPURPOSE ROOM.

SO EXISTING HOLLABAUGH HAS ONE REALLY NICE, GOOD SIZE MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM.

AND THEN OUR REALLY SMALL CLASSROOM THAT WAS REALLY LIMITED ON WHAT WE CAN DO WITH THAT CLASSROOM, BECAUSE IT IS SO SMALL.

SO NOW HOW ABOUT, WE'LL HAVE TWO REALLY LARGE MULTIPURPOSE ROOMS, THIS MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM CAN BE DIVIDED.

UM, AND SO, YOU KNOW, IF WE WANTED TO BREAK IT DOWN AND HAVE TWO SMALLER CLASSES, WE COULD DO THAT.

IF A RENTAL ONLY WANTS TO HAVE, UM, A SMALLER SPACE, THEY CAN DO THAT, BUT IT'S REALLY PRETTY.

[00:05:01]

I LOVE THIS.

YOU CAN JUST SEE ALL THOSE WINDOWS, HOW LIGHT AND AIRY IT'S GOING TO BE.

UM, SO REALLY PRETTY IN THAT WE'RE, UH, DESIGNED FOR, UM, AAV COMPONENTS IN THERE.

SO IT WILL BE EASY FOR PEOPLE TO USE FOR MEETINGS OR FOR THEIR EVENTS THAT THEY DECIDE TO HOST THERE ALSO THIS MULTIPURPOSE ROOM, UM, WHEN YOU COME OUT OF THE HALLWAY, I'M GOING TO GO BACK TO THE FLOOR PLAN WHEN YOU COME.

SO THE MULTIPURPOSE ROOM, WHEN YOU COME DOWN THAT HALLWAY, UM, YOU CAN ACTUALLY GO OUT TO THE EXISTING PAVILION.

SO, AND IT'LL HAVE A LITTLE COVERED ACCESS.

SO IF THE CAMPERS ARE OUT THERE AND THEY, YOU KNOW, IN THE BACK OF THE MULTIPURPOSE ROOM AND THEY WANT TO GO OUT TO THE PAVILION, THEY CAN GO OUT THROUGH THAT WAY WITHOUT HAVING TO DISTURB THE REST OF THE CENTER.

UM, AND THEN THERE'S ALSO ACCESS OFF OF THAT NEW CORRIDOR INTO THE KITCHEN.

SO THAT'S EXISTING KITCHEN AREA.

SO GO BACK.

YEAH.

AND THAT'S NOT, THAT'S EXISTING, IT'S PART OF THE GRAY.

SO NONE OF THOSE AREAS ARE GETTING IN AND KIND OF RENOVATION.

YES, SIR.

AND THEN THE LAST CORRECT.

UM, AND THEN TWO MORE SLIDES TO SHARE WITH YOU GUYS.

WE HAVE A PICTURE OF WHAT THE GYMNASIUM WILL LOOK LIKE.

SO AGAIN, YOU CAN SEE OUT THOSE WINDOWS INTO THE PLAZA, IT'S VERY NICE AND OPEN, NICE, UM, LIGHT COMING INTO THAT SPACE.

UM, WE HAVE BLEACHERS PLANNED FOR THAT.

AND THEN WE ALSO HAVE AN AREA FOR A WALKING TRACK.

SO THAT'S REALLY NICE.

CAUSE THERE ARE QUITE A FEW PEOPLE THAT WALK THAT AREA OVER AT HALL BALL SO THEY CAN COME IN AND UTILIZE THAT PORTION OF THE, UM, GYMNASIUM.

AND THEN THE FINAL SLIDE.

THIS IS A VIEW OF THE NEW CONTROL DESK.

SO IT'S NOT WHERE THE STAFF OFFICES WILL BE.

STAFF OFFICES WILL STAY WHERE THEY ARE CURRENTLY AT AT THE FACILITY.

BUT THE REASON, ANOTHER REASON THAT WE WANTED TO HAVE THAT CONTROL DESK IN THIS NEW AREA IS SO THAT STAFF WHO ARE WORKING, THEY MAY NOT HAVE BE ABLE TO VISUALLY SEE EVERYTHING DOWN IN THE MULTIPURPOSE ROOM IN THAT GYM, BUT AT LEAST THEY CAN HEAR, UM, BECAUSE WHERE THEY WERE, THEY WERE EVEN FURTHER AWAY FROM THAT.

UM, SO, AND WE DIDN'T HAVE MUCH OF AN OPTION OF WHERE WE COULD PUT THIS BIG GINORMOUS 14,000 SQUARE FOOT, UM, SPACE BECAUSE, YOU KNOW, WE'RE SHARING IT WITH THE LIBRARY.

SO WE, WE, WE, WE DID HAVE SOME SITE CONSTRAINTS AND THEN THE BOTTOM PHOTO IS YOU CAN SEE PART OF THE DESK, YOU CAN SEE THE HALLWAY GOING DOWN INTO WHAT IS THE GYMNASIUM AND THE MULTIPURPOSE ROOM CORRIDOR.

AND THEN, UM, THIS LITTLE SPACE OVER HERE, IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS LITTLE BOOSTS.

WE'RE CALLING THAT THE LIVING ROOM, IT'S JUST A FUN LITTLE SPACE.

IT CREATES THOSE SPACES, WHETHER IT'S MOM OR DAD WANTING TO SIT THERE AND BE ON THEIR LAPTOP.

WELL, YOU KNOW, JOHNNY'S TAKEN A KARATE CLASS OR MAYBE KIDS ARE JUST SITTING IN THERE, YOU KNOW, HAVING A SNACK OR, YOU KNOW, JUST UTILIZE.

IT KIND OF JUST MAKES SOME NICE LITTLE FUN SPACES.

UM, AND WE'RE LOOKING AT SOME MODULAR FURNITURE THAT WE COULD POTENTIALLY MOVE AROUND AND JUST CREATE LITTLE FUN, LITTLE POCKETS FOR THE KIDDOS.

AND THEN ALSO, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE DESIGNED IN THINGS LIKE, UM, LOCKER SPACE FOR THE GYM PARTICIPANTS, FOR THE FITNESS ROOM PARTICIPANTS, FOR THE KIDS IN THE LOBBY.

UM, THERE ARE SOME, A FEW UPDATES HAPPENING, UH, WITH SOME OF THE EQUIPMENT IN THE, IN THE KITCHEN.

BUT, UM, SO WE'RE SUPER EXCITED ABOUT IT.

AND IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT SPECIFIC THINGS, I'M HAPPY TO ANSWER THOSE.

THE PARKING LOT, THE EXISTING PARKING LOT IS, AND WE WILL BE ADDING PARKING SPACES BECAUSE WE HAVE TO DO THAT.

UM, BECAUSE WE'RE SHARING THAT SITE WITH THE LIBRARY.

SO THE LIBRARY AND THE REC CENTER HAVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF SPACES THAT THEY HAVE TO HAVE.

YOU MAY HAVE MENTIONED THAT BEFORE, UH, IN, IN THIS, UM, I WENT OUT THERE TO THE HOLLOW BOB AND THIS WAS FIRST SUGGESTED TO HAVE THE LIBRARY THERE.

AND, UH, THAT'S WHAT REALLY GOT ME GOING ABOUT THE LIBRARY WAS THAT THE, THE LOCAL CITIZENRY AROUND THERE IT'S IT'S HIGH DENSITY IS HIGH DENSITY SURROUNDING ALL THE WAY AROUND THIS PART.

UH, BUT IT'S ALSO AT A SOCIOECONOMIC LEVEL WHERE THEY DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO A LOT OF COMPUTERS.

AND THAT WAS, UM, IN FACT, WHEN I ASKED THE LADY THERE, WHAT DOES THIS PLACE NEED THE MOST? AND SHE SAYS THE ACCESS TO COMPUTERS FOR THESE PEOPLES, WE'VE GOT THEM STANDING IN LINE EVERY DAY.

I RESUMED THAT WE'VE MOVED THE COMPUTER AREAS COMPLETELY OUT OF THIS NOW.

AND PUTTING THEM IN THE LIBRARY IS THAT WHAT'S HAPPENING.

WE ARE NOT PART OF THE LIBRARY DESIGN, BUT I DO BELIEVE THAT THEY

[00:10:01]

HAVE SOME SPACES THAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO FOR THE, THE, LIKE A TEEN AREA.

I'M SURE THE HAVE COMPUTERS OVER THERE.

WE WILL NOT HAVE COMPUTER STATIONS AT THE MOMENT.

HOWEVER, THOSE LITTLE POCKETS THAT WE'RE IN HERE AND THAT LIVING ROOM AREA, WE WILL HAVE USB PORTS AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

SO IF PEOPLE DID WANT TO BRING IN LAPTOPS, OR IF WE EVENTUALLY WANTED TO GO TO DO SOMETHING LIKE RENTING OUT LAPTOPS, WE COULD DO THAT.

UM, WHERE I'M, WHERE I'M HEADED WITH THIS IS IF WE HAVE NOT PROVIDED SO SIGNIFICANT, UM, UM, IMPROVEMENT IN THE COMPUTER ACCESS IN HERE, WHICH I CAN UNDERSTAND WHY WE WOULDN'T, WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT THAT GETS PROVIDED IN THE LIBRARY.

UH, BECAUSE THAT WAS WHEN SHE SAID THAT ABOVE A GYM.

I MEAN, I NEVER EXPECTED THAT I WAS GOING FOR THE GYMNASIUM.

WHAT'S GOING TO WHAT WAS GOING TO BE SAID.

I BELIEVE KAREN AND BECKY ARE DOING A REALLY GOOD JOB OF MAKING SURE ALL THE NEEDS ARE BEING MET OVER THERE OF WHAT CAME OUT OF THEIR LIBRARY, MASTER PLAN IN WORKING WITH THEIR DESIGN TEAM ON THOSE THINGS.

OKAY.

AND, AND THEN JUST ANOTHER THING OR TWO, UH, IN THE PLAZA AREA, UH, I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING THAT INDICATED THERE WAS GOING TO BE ANY, UH, PLANTINGS OR COVERED AREAS OR THINGS LIKE THAT WHERE PEOPLE COULD ACTUALLY, UM, USE THIS AREA LIKE THEY WERE IN THE PARK, BUT THEY'RE ACTUALLY BETWEEN THE TWO BUILDINGS.

AND THIS, THIS HAD TO DO AGAIN WITH WHAT WAS SAID THERE, THAT PEOPLE HAVE CHILDREN OF, THERE'LL BE ALL AGES THAT ONE TIME THERE.

AND SO THAT THIS WOULD BE A PLACE FOR MOM OR DAD TO HANG OUT WHERE THE KIDS ARE EITHER PLAYING IN THE GYMNASIUM OR IN THE LIBRARY.

DO YOU KNOW IF THERE ARE GOING TO BE ANY PROVISIONS FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT? SO WHAT YOU DON'T SEE IS BECAUSE WE'RE ONLY SHOWING OUR PORTION OF THE DESIGN TO THE DESIGN TEAM FOR THE LIBRARY IS WORKING, UM, MORE HEAVILY ON THE PLAZA.

AND THIS CORRIDOR IS INTENTIONALLY, UM, LEFT, OPEN THAT YOU'RE SEEING.

AND THAT WAS PART OF OUR DESIGN TEAM SO THAT WE COULD ALLOW FOR BIG SPACES.

FOR EXAMPLE, YOU COULD SHINE A BIG MOVIE UP ON, YOU KNOW, IF YOU'RE LOOKING AT THIS BOTTOM PICTURE OR THE TOP ONE, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE THIS OPEN SPACE, WE COULD SHINE A MOVIE UP THERE AND DO A MOVIE NIGHT OUT THERE, RIGHT? SO OBVIOUSLY SETTING UP TABLES AND THINGS LIKE THAT ARE, ARE MUCH EASIER, UM, WITH MORE OF A FLAT SPACE, BUT THERE IS DESIGN GOING IN WITH PLANTINGS, UH, COLORED LIGHTS, YOU KNOW, THINGS TO TRY AND TIE INTO EXISTING HOLLABAUGH, WHICH IS IF YOU'RE FAMILIAR, IT'S GOT THE LITTLE COLORED WINDOWS AND THE FUN COLORS, UM, TO THAT.

SO THERE ARE THINGS BEING DESIGNED IN, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU WANT TO COMMENT ANYMORE ON THAT JUST A LITTLE BIT, I'LL ADD, UM, SOME OF THAT, CAUSE IT IS IN THE SCOPE OF THE, OF THE LIBRARY ARCHITECT TO DESIGN THE POSITIVE, BUT THEY HAVE HEARD OUR DESIGN INTENTIONS AND GOTTEN OUR FEEDBACK.

AND WE'VE MET WITH THE LIBRARY STAFF AND THEY'VE COORDINATED WITH OUR ARCHITECT.

THERE ARE SOME CHALLENGES IN THAT SPACE, GRADING WISE, IT'S ACTUALLY OPPOSITE OF WHAT THAT DRAWING SHOWS LIBRARY IS HIGHER THAN THE HALL, ABOUT SIDE AND RIGHT ABOUT WHERE THAT DRAWING SHOWS THE STAIRS IS ACTUALLY HAS TO BE A FIRE LANE.

UM, SO THE FIRE LANE IS PRIORITY.

OBVIOUSLY IT GOES TO THE BACK OF THE BUILDING.

AND THEN FROM THERE, UM, THEY'RE LOOKING AT SOME SOLUTIONS TO WORK WITH THE GRADING, TO ACCOMMODATE PLACES WHERE YOU'VE GOT STAIRS.

YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO HAVE ADA RAMPS AND THEN KIND OF WORKING INTO THAT KIND OF, UH, AN ART ART PLAZA, I GUESS, FOR LACK OF A BETTER TERM.

UM, AND SO THAT AREA USING THE SLOPE, THEY'RE LOOKING AT SOME OPTIONS OF, OKAY, CAN THAT ALSO BE SPECTATOR SEATING FOR A PLAY OR A MOVIE, A PUPPET SHOW, WHATEVER YOU WANT TO DO ON THAT WALL, AS DILLY SAID, UM, NOW DOES SPECIFICALLY ADDRESS THE PLANTINGS THAT'S, UH, THAT IS A LITTLE BIT OF A CHALLENGE FROM A COUPLE OF STANDPOINT, UM, IS THE SPACE IS LIMITED.

AND WE ALSO HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL TO AVOID, UM, UH, HIDING SPACES BECAUSE IT'S NOT LIKELY BECAUSE IT'S NOT VERY FLAT IN BETWEEN THE ART PLAZA, THE ADA RAMPS AND THE FIRE LANE.

THERE'S NOT A WHOLE LOT OF SPACE TO PUT FLOWER BEDS, SO, OR LANDSCAPE BEDS.

SO THEY'RE LOOKING AT RAISED OR CONTAINER TREES, SHRUBS, THAT KIND OF THING, BUT BEING MINDFUL THAT WE HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO PROVIDE HIDING SPACES OR DARK SPACES OR PLACES THAT AS YOU ALL KNOW, YOU DON'T WANT TO SCARE ANYBODY'S VISION.

AND THEN ON THE SIDE OF THE LIBRARY, THEY'RE COVERED PATIO FACES THAT PLAZA.

SO YOU'VE GOT THE COVERED PATIO FOR THEM INTO THE PLAZA, INTO THE REC CENTER, ART SPACE, ALL THAT IN-BETWEEN, THERE IS A SMALL BIT OF MONEY IN THE HOLLABAUGH RECREATION CENTER PROJECT FOR SOME LANDSCAPING, BUT IT'S BASICALLY JUST TO KIND OF BRING BACK WHAT WILL GET TORN UP DURING THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS.

YEAH, WELL, I'M HOPING I LIKED THE IDEA OF THE CONTAINER, UH, AND THINGS AND CONTAINERS, CAUSE THAT DOES GIVE YOU FLEXIBILITY.

THEN IF, UH, OVER TIME, THIS MATURES INTO SOMETHING THAT WE HAVEN'T THOUGHT ABOUT THEN THAT THEN THAT GIVES US THE EASE OF CONVERSION AND THEN YOU CAN PLANTS AND PLANTS AND THINGS CAN BE OUT IN FRONT, THEY CAN BE IN BACK OR, YOU KNOW, WHATEVER AND THINKING ABOUT WHAT WE SAW ON THE MAJOR PROJECT, OVER IN ARLINGTON, IN THEIR COMBINATION, UH, THERE WAS, THERE WAS A LOT

[00:15:01]

OF GREENERY AND FEELINGS OF, YOU KNOW, BEING IN THE PARK.

I THINK THAT, I THINK THAT'S, THAT'D BE PART OF THIS TO FEEL LIKE YOU'RE IN THE PARK WHEN YOU'RE IN THE REC CENTER WILL BE ANOTHER THING THAT WILL, THAT WILL REALLY SET THIS OFF FOR, UH, FOR US, UM, AND WHAT WE ACCOMPLISH.

AND I DIDN'T SAY, BUT THIS IS SCHEDULED TO START AFTER SUMMER.

SO OUR SUMMER PROGRAMMING WILL CONTINUE OVER AT HOLLOWELL RECREATION CENTER.

AND THEN THIS FALL IS WHEN THIS IS SCHEDULED TO GET GOING, HAVE SOMEBODY ELSE DOWN HERE JUST IT'LL BE THIS FALL.

SO WE ARE, UM, THE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENT PHASE IS DONE.

SO WE'RE WORKING WITH THE CONTRACTOR NOW WE'LL BE REVIEWING WITH THEM IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS, GOING OVER THE FINAL CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS AND GETTING THEIR, UM, GNP ON THAT.

IS IT, IS IT OVER BUDGET AND EVERYTHING? UH, WE DID HAVE A FEW CHALLENGES, BUT NOT LIKE WE'VE HAD ON SOME OTHER ONES.

THERE WAS SOME REQUESTS THAT CAME IN FROM COUNCILMAN VERA, FOR EXAMPLE.

UM, HE WAS REALLY ADAMANT ABOUT WANTING TO HAVE, AND IT, AND IT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE.

UM, CURRENTLY LET ME GO BACK TO, WELL, IT'S PROBABLY BEST ON THE, SO CURRENTLY, UM, WHERE THE EXISTING PAVILION IS, IF YOU WALK OUT OF THE BUILDING RIGHT NOW, THERE IS NO COVER.

UM, AND SO HE W YOU KNOW, JUST SAID, WELL, THAT REALLY DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.

CAUSE IF I HAVE AN EVENT OUT HERE, BUT THEN I NEED TO GO BACK INTO THE BUILDING, I'M GOING TO GET ALL WET OR MY FOOD'S GOING TO GET ALL WET.

AND SO, UM, THOSE WERE TWO THINGS THAT WE'VE ADDED IN.

UM, AND THERE WERE, I GUESS, I, I KNOW WE WENT BACK AND ADDED, BUT I DON'T REMEMBER THE AMOUNT.

WELL, W WE ADDED SOME FUNDS A WHILE BACK TO HELP, BECAUSE ONE OF THE THINGS THAT DELETE NOTICE IS THAT THIS WAS HER IDEA.

SO WHEN THE CONTROL ROOM WAS THE CHALLENGE, SO BY MOVING IT, IT ALLOWED US TO DO TWO THINGS, HAVE BETTER VIEWABILITY, BETTER WORKSPACE AND EXPAND THE FITNESS ROOM.

CAUSE IT'S KIND OF AN ODD TRAPEZOID.

IT'S KIND OF SMALL.

YOU CAN SEE WHERE IT SAYS RENOVATION, IT OPENS UP AND MAKES THAT BIGGER.

SO THOSE THINGS WERE A PRACTICAL MATTER.

THEN IT REQUIRED SPRINKLING A LITTLE MONEY ON IT.

WE WILL KNOW MORE ABOUT THE BUDGET WHEN WE RECEIVED THE, THE FIRST ROUND OF PRICING.

SO WE, WE DON'T KNOW, THERE'S, THERE'S SOME CHALLENGES RIGHT NOW WITH PRICING THAT WE'VE ALL STOPPED TRYING TO SPECULATE ON, BUT THE CONTROL ROOM, EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T HAVE VISUAL, WE'LL HAVE LIKE CAMERAS OR SOMETHING.

WE'LL HAVE TO HEAR WHAT'S GOING ON.

MR. CARTER.

THANK YOU, MR. CHAIRMAN.

UM, IT WAS JUST ONE OF THE PIECES WE GET AS WE GET THROUGH THE NOW, NOW WE'VE GOT, YOU'VE GOT A GREAT CONCEPT HERE.

THIS IS WORKING OUT WONDERFULLY.

UH, JUST AS A, AS A THOUGHT, AS A PART OF THIS, THAT'S A VERY HIGH, UH, HISPANIC, UH, AREA OVER IN THAT AREA.

AND THEY LIKED, THEY LIKED PLAZAS AND THEY LIKE, UH, TO BE OUTSIDE AND BE ABLE TO BE WITH FAMILIES AS LARGE FAMILIES.

AND I GUESS THIS MIGHT GO MORE INTO THE PARK, UH, UH, ANDY, UM, WHAT COULD WE POSSIBLY PROVIDE SOME THINGS OUT THERE, OR AT LEAST MAKE PROVISIONS FOR IN THE FUTURE TO HAVE AREAS ROCKET AND I CAN SEE THEM USING ALL OF THIS AND THEN, AND THEN GOING OUT INTO THE PARK AND IN THE PAVILIONS, YOU KNOW, LIKEWISE WE HAVE OVER OFF OF, UM, DUCK CREEK, UH, OVER THERE.

UM, AND IN THAT AREA, BACK DOWN IN SOUTH GARLAND AND BACK THERE, OH, IT'S JUST A, YOU KNOW, A COVERED PAVILION, BUT THAT THAT'S, THAT'S THEIR LIFESTYLE.

AND WITH THAT LARGER NUMBER OF PEOPLE OUT THERE, PERCENTAGE OF PEOPLE, UM, I THINK JUST AS A THOUGHT, WE NEED TO THINK ABOUT HOW THEY USE THINGS.

I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT'S, THAT'S BEEN KIND OF CENTRAL TO A LOT OF THE DESIGN DISCUSSION AT VARIOUS PHASES IS, IS, IS ENGAGING AND MAKING SURE WE UNDERSTAND HOW THE USERS WILL USE IT.

I THINK ANYTHING BEYOND THIS FOOTPRINT, THE OPPORTUNITIES ARE PROBABLY THERE.

THEY'RE JUST NOT A BUDGET FOR IT YET.

UM, BUT AGAIN, WE COULD ALWAYS BE MINDFUL OF, OF, YOU KNOW, PARTICULARLY ONCE THE LIBRARY DONE, THE PLAZA HAS DONE THIS, BUILDING'S DONE OBSERVE HOW PEOPLE INTERACT AND USE THE SPACE BECAUSE IT DID PROVIDE BETWEEN SOME DRAINAGE CHALLENGES, UM, AND ELEVATION CHANGES.

UM, IT DOES CREATE SOME ISSUES ON THAT NORTH SIDE OF THE, OF THE BUILDINGS IS GOING TO BE SOME GRADING CHANGES TO PROPERLY CAPTURE THE WATER AND UTILIZE EXISTING STRUCTURE.

HOPEFULLY.

UM, THE OTHER SIDE HAD SOME PRETTY SIGNIFICANT, UM, DRAINAGE CHALLENGES AS WELL.

SO THAT'S A LITTLE BIT OF A LIMITING FACTOR FOR THOSE OPTIONS, BUT WE COULD CERTAINLY BE MINDFUL AND OBSERVANT GOING FORWARD OF HOW FOLKS PREFER TO USE THE SPACE.

YEAH.

UM, THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION.

YOU, YOU HAVE, UH, THE ARCHITECTS IN THEIR DESIGN TO, TO JUST GIVE US FUTURE FUTURE USE AREAS, WHICH WOULD HELP IN DETERMINING HOW THEY'RE GOING TO GRADE AND WHERE THEY'RE GOING TO GRADE SO THAT PEOPLE IN THE FUTURE WILL KNOW THAT WE'VE, WE'VE PROVIDED THE ABILITY FOR THEM TO DO THIS.

AND WE DIDN'T HAVE TO PUT THIS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PARK.

LIKE WE USED TO, I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT, THAT ACTUALLY TO YOUR POINT, THAT CONVERSATION WAS HAD, WE DID TALK QUITE A BIT OF HOW

[00:20:01]

TO BRING THE PARK INTO THE BUILDING AND VICE VERSA.

SO THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY PART OF THE DISCUSSION.

AND SO THE RECREATION CENTER WILL START, BUT THEN THE LIBRARY IS A, THERE'S STILL A WAYS OUT.

I'M NOT EVEN SURE WHEN THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO START.

SO IT'S QUITE POSSIBLE.

WE'LL BE DONE AND OPEN WITH OUR NEW FACILITY AND THEN YOU'LL HAVE A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION GOING ON NEXT DOOR.

SO, JASON, ONE QUICK QUESTION.

UM, CAN WE GO TO THE GYM REALLY QUICK? YES, SIR.

WILL THE QUALITY OF PLAY BE EFFECTED, BUT THE WINDOWS LIKE THAT, IT'S FUNNY THAT YOU ASK, UM, WE ACTUALLY DID A, UM, OH YEAH.

AND THE ARCHITECTS ARE AMAZING AND HAVE THAT TECHNOLOGY TO SHOW, THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE IN JUNE AT SIX O'CLOCK.

AND SO, UM, SO YES, THAT WAS CONSIDERED.

UM, BUT YOU'VE GOT THE, UM, WHAT IS THE TECHNICAL NAME FOR THOSE, THOSE WINDOWS? WELL, THE CAL WALL IS THAT OPAQUE LAYER UP ABOVE IT.

AND IT'S REALLY COOL.

AND IT'S GOING TO HAVE THIS NEAT GLOW AT NIGHT.

UM, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, IT'S GOT TO A CERTAIN OPAQUENESS, SO IT'S NOT A GLARE.

IT, I WOULDN'T CALL IT A WINDOW.

IT'S ACTUALLY A WALL STRUCTURE.

IT'S GOT SOME THICKNESS TO IT.

AND THEN, THEN THE WAY THE LIBRARY DESIGN IS, UM, WHAT'S A HEFTY SIZE BUILDING.

SO IT WILL HELP WITH THAT.

YEAH.

I DON'T WANT TO COWBOYS STADIUM SITUATION HERE WITH WE, WE AGREE AND YOU'LL NOTICE TOO THAT RIGHT BEHIND THE GOAL.

THAT'S, THERE'S A SOLID WALL THERE, KIND OF FOR THAT SAME, SAME PURPOSE.

OH YEAH, YEAH.

THAT IS KIND OF A UNFORTUNATE BILLION-DOLLAR RIGHT.

YEAH.

I DO THOSE BLEACHERS FOLD UP.

SO YOU USE THE WHOLE TRACK THERE, THE TIP IN FOLDERS THAT YOU GOT TO TRACK, WHICH YOU GOT BLEACHERS IN THE MIDDLE OF STUFF.

OKAY.

UM, GIVE ME ONE MORE.

YOU'RE NOT AT, YOU'RE NOT IN THE QUEUE, MR. CARTER, UH, IS THIS TRACK, ARE WE GOING TO HAVE ANY TRACK? THAT'S GOING TO TAKE YOU RIGHT OUT THOSE DOORS ONTO A TRACK AND AROUND THE PARK.

NO, SIR.

IT GOES STRAIGHT OUT.

UH, I DON'T KNOW THAT THEY'RE, THEY'RE THE ONLY EXIT ON THE GYM, I BELIEVE AS A FIRE EXIT TO THE BACK, BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT UNCONTROLLED ACCESS PAST THE CONTROL ROOM.

CAN'T SEE.

SO WHEN YOU LEAVE AND YOU LEAVE THE CONTROL ROOM, YOU GO OUT ONTO THE PLAZA AND THERE'S CURRENTLY NOT A CONNECTION FROM THE BUILDING TO THE TRAIL ITSELF.

YOU'D HAVE TO COME OUT OF THE BUILDING AND THEN ONTO THE TRAIL THAT WAY.

IS IT A, IS THERE A TRA UH, TRAIL THERE NOW? THERE IS.

OKAY.

SO THAT THERE IS A WAY OF GETTING A CONNECTION THROUGH THAT.

JUST UNDERSTAND YOU DON'T WANT, CORRECT.

IT JUST WON'T BE OUT THE NORTH SIDE BECAUSE OF THE DRAINAGE ISSUES.

AND AGAIN, THAT YOU DON'T WANT UNCONTROLLED ACT, THAT'S A, THAT'S A FIRE EXIT, AND THEN THERE'S A GRADING DIFFERENCE BACK THERE.

SO YOU GOTTA MAKE SURE THERE'S A LANDING SPOT FOR IT.

FOLKS ARE EXITING A FIRE SITUATION IN A WHEELCHAIR, BUT BEYOND THAT, THERE'S NOT A CONNECTION OTHER THAN THE FRONT DOOR.

I'M SORRY TO KEEP DOING THIS ONE, A PIECE ANOTHER ON THE, ON THE GYMNASIUM.

UH, IS THERE GOING TO BE ANY KIND OF A PAVILION LIKE WE HAVE AT AUTOBON OUT THERE? YOU MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT GOING OUTDOORS.

IF THERE'S THERE'S NO, THERE'S NO OUTDOOR PAVILION, A COVERED AREA OUTSIDE PAVILION THAT WILL RUN THERE IS EXISTING.

YES.

SO THE EXISTING PAVILION THAT WILL BE OVER THERE, UM, RIGHT THERE ON THE BOTTOM, RIGHT.

THE EXISTING PAVILION.

OKAY.

IS THAT WHAT THAT IS THAT WALLED IN? THAT'S NOT WALLED.

IS IT? OH, OKAY.

OKAY.

FANTASTIC.

FANTASTIC.

FANTASTIC.

THANK YOU.

WE'LL USE ANYBODY ELSE.

THANK TO LEE.

GOOD JOB.

THANK YOU.

WE'RE VERY EXCITED FOR THIS PROJECT.

IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME COMING ON.

I THINK IT'S GOING TO MEET A LOT OF NEEDS NEXT STEP PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD RETREAT.

SO KEITH'S GOT SOME OPTIONS FOR US.

WE TALKED ABOUT, UM, DOING A RETREAT IN LIEU OF A, UH, A MEETING WHICHEVER MONTH WE DECIDED ON.

SO I THINK EVERYBODY HAS RESPONDED.

MOST, EVERYBODY HAS RESPONDED WITH THEIR DATE POSSIBILITIES.

SO IF WE COULD DO A COUPLE OF THINGS, WE MAY NOT ALL SETTLE ON A DATE TONIGHT.

IT'D BE GREAT IF WE COULD, IF NOT, UM, THAT'S OKAY.

BUT THE OTHER THING I'D LIKE TO HEAR FEEDBACK ON IS WHICHEVER WE SELECT, WHAT SITES WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO TO? AND WE'LL SO HOW DOES, UH, BASICALLY, UH, DATES AVAILABLE DATES? UH, DAVID, UH, GAVE ME SOME DATES TO BASICALLY PROVIDE TO THE BOARD.

UM, SO THE MAY 13TH AND 14TH AND MAY 20TH AND 21ST, WE DON'T HAVE A LARGE PORTION OF THE COMMITTEE.

IT COULD, UH, ATTEN

[00:25:01]

I'M JUST LETTING YOU KNOW, THIS IS HOW EVERYBODY RESPONDED.

UH, SO I'M GOING TO GO TO JUNE, UH, LOOKS LIKE JUNE 10TH, WHICH IS A FRIDAY AND JUNE 11TH.

UH, WE HAVE A LARGE PORTION THAT COULD ATTEND.

AND ALSO WE HAVE THE JUNE 25TH.

WE HAVE A LARGE, UH, GROUP THAT COULD ATTEND THAT DATE TOO.

SO, UH, 3, 6, 7, I THINK FRIDAY I HAD SIX PEOPLE SAY THEY CAN MAKE FRIDAY.

AND THEN I HAVE SEVEN ON SATURDAY, THE 11TH AND 25TH.

SO RIGHT NOW I HAVE THREE DATES THAT I'M PROPOSING, WHICH IS THE 10TH, 11TH, AND THE 25TH.

AND I'LL TURN IT OVER TO DAVID TO PROVIDE SOME DIRECTION OF WHICH ONE Y'ALL WOULD LIKE TO GO WITH.

I WOULD SAY THE 11TH THAT HAS THE MOST PEOPLE, RIGHT? IT'S NOT BOTH.

IT'S NOT FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.

NO, IT'S JUST ONE OR THE OTHER.

SO WE DON'T JUST NOT KNOW ABOUT JONATHAN OR, UH, CAN YOU KISS? IS THAT THE ONLY, OR THEY'RE JUST KIDDING YOU, WE HAVE A LITTLE CHEAT SHEET THAT Y'ALL SUBMITTED.

THERE'S SEVEN AND SEVEN ON EITHER OF THOSE SATURDAYS.

IS THAT WHAT I'M SAYING? JONATHAN, UH, SUBMITTED WAS MAY 14TH WAS THE ONLY THING HE SELECTED AND, UH, WELL, THE MAY 14TH, THERE'S A LOT OF THINGS GOING ON THAT DAY, RIGHT? CORRECT.

CORRECT.

LIKE I SAID, THE MAY WAS KINDA, YOU HAVE GRADUATIONS, YOU GOT A LOT OF THINGS GOING ON.

UH, GOT THE DUCK CREEK CLEAN UP DIRECT SPECIAL ARTS FESTIVAL WITH UCT.

AND THEN, UH, KENYA WAS MORE OF THE JUNE 24TH AND 25TH, UH, IS WHERE SHE BASICALLY, UH, MADE THE RECOMMENDATION.

SO JASON, IF WE DID THE 25TH, WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO MAKE THAT WORK JUNE 25TH? YEAH.

I JUST DIDN'T KNOW IF IT WAS LIKE YOU HAD TO SWITCH AT WORK THERE OR SOMETHING.

IS THERE A FAMILY THING? UH, MY WIFE'S BEST FRIEND'S BIRTHDAY, BUT I'M SURE IT'LL BE DONE BY THE TIME THE PARTY STARTS GETTING UP THERE.

WOULD ANYONE, UH, DISAGREE IF WE SAID MAYBE THE MORNING TIME IS BETTER FOR THESE SATURDAY TOURS AT THAT TIME A YEAR? THAT HE'S GREAT.

WELL, WE TYPICALLY KIND OF DONE BOTH.

YOU COULD DO IT.

SO THAT'S THE QUESTION.

SO THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THAT UP.

WE COULD DO BOTH, UM, OR WE COULD DO TOUR ONLY, AND ANOTHER DAY FOR A RETREAT.

IT JUST DEPENDS ON BECAUSE AS BIG AS THE CITY IS, IF WE GO TO THREE OR FOUR PARKS OR MORE, A LOT OF TRAVEL TIME, A LOT OF TIME IN THE PARK, YOU'RE TALKING HALF A DAY.

UM, SO IT'S, WHATEVER THE BOARD'S PLEASURE IS, WE CAN MAKE TWO DATES AVAILABLE.

I THINK FOR THE, IF IT'S A RETREAT, WE WANT TO DO IT INDOORS.

THEN PERHAPS WE COULD OPEN IT BACK UP TO WEEKDAY NIGHTS, WEEKDAY DAYS, RATHER THAN WEEKENDS.

BUT I FEEL MAYBE THAT THE WEEKENDS ARE BETTER FOR THE TOUR ITSELF.

AND THEN IF WE WANT TO MAYBE TAKE WHATEVER IDEAS POP INTO EVERYONE'S HEAD FROM THAT WALKABOUT THAT GOES INTO THE RETREAT, POTENTIALLY JUST THROWING OUT IDEAS, MOLLY.

AND IS THIS IN LIEU OF JULY'S MEETING ALSO UP TO THE BOARD? YEAH, THAT WOULD BE GOOD BECAUSE I GOT ANOTHER, I HAVE A CONFLICT FOR THE JULY MEETING ANYWAY.

AND TRADITIONALLY I THINK THAT'S A MEETING THAT HAS NOT ALWAYS BEEN UTILIZED JUST DUE TO THE HOLIDAY TYPE STUFF.

SO IT SUITS ME FINE.

WE USED TO DO A FESTIVAL DOWNTOWN, SO IT WASN'T REALLY POSSIBLE.

SO I'M HEARING 25TH FOR THE TOUR, FOR THE TREAT.

AND THEN, AND WHAT HAVE WE DID THE TOUR ON THE 11TH AND THEN THE RETREAT ON 25TH, ESPECIALLY THAT COULD, UH, YEAH, THAT COULD KIND OF GIVE EVERYBODY TIME TO THINK LIKE ON THE TOUR, LIKE, HEY, THIS THING IS, I NEED TO BREAK UP, BRING UP IN THE TREE ON THE 25TH.

OKAY.

TWO MORNINGS INSTEAD OF AN ALL DAY.

[00:30:01]

SO ON THE, ON THE 25TH, I WILL NOT BE HERE.

I WILL BE OUT OF TOWN THAT ENTIRE WEEKEND.

IF IT'S THE RETREAT I NEED, I'D LIKE TO BE AT THE RETREAT.

I COULD OBVIOUSLY STAFF COULD HELP WITH THE TOUR.

UM, BUT I, I AM OUT ON THAT WEEKEND AND CAN'T MOVE IT.

WHAT WAS WRONG? WE JUST DIDN'T HAVE ANY OTHER DATES IN BETWEEN THESE TWO.

THOSE ARE, THOSE ARE THE DATES THAT I WAS ASKED TO ASK THE BOARD.

YEAH.

11TH AND 25TH.

YEP.

OKAY.

I WOULD BE HERE TREAT IF WE HAVE TO FLIP THOSE TO, SO YOU'LL TALK ABOUT WHAT WE'RE GOING TO SEE AND THEN WE'LL FOLLOW UP WITH QUESTIONS AND WELL, I THINK, YOU KNOW, WITH THAT, WE CAN DO IT SEVERAL WAYS.

AND I WOULD CERTAINLY BEFORE THE RETREAT ITSELF, LOVE TO HEAR SOME INPUT FROM THE BOARD ON THE GOALS, BECAUSE OTHERWISE WE COULD TALK PARKS FOR FOREVER.

RIGHT.

RIGHT.

SO WE, UH, W WE'D LIKE TO HAVE AN AGENDA AND SOME ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

AND I THINK THAT FOR ME AND THINGS, YOU KNOW, SOMETHING I'VE DONE IN THE PAST, I JUST THINK IT'S NICE FOR THE, FOR THE PARK BOARD TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT IN THE FIELD AND SEE, I LIKE TO SHOW THINGS THAT ARE UNDER CONSTRUCTION.

WE CAN MAKE A MIX OF WHAT'S COMPLETE AND HOW AWESOME IT LOOKS AND PEOPLE ARE USING IT ON THE WEEKEND.

AND THEN A MIX OF THINGS THAT ARE UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND KIND OF, YOU KNOW, SEE THE BEHIND THE CURTAIN KIND OF STUFF.

SO, UM, CERTAINLY LIKED TO MIX IN SOME TRAILS WITH THAT.

I THINK THAT'S AN IMPORTANT COMPONENT.

WE CAN EVEN MIX IN AN EXISTING TRAIL WITH AN ADJACENCY TO A PROPOSED TRAIL SUCH AS UNDERNEATH CARLIN ROAD OR THE HALF CONNECTION BACK TO WINNERS.

I MEAN, WE'VE GOT LOTS OF OPTIONS.

IF YOU'LL, IF YOU'LL GIVE ME SOME IDEAS THAT YOU WANT TO COVER, AND THEN I COULD MAYBE SUPPLEMENT IT WITH SOME OTHER THINGS THAT ARE OF INTEREST AND THEN SUBMIT SOME GOALS THAT YOU'D LIKE TO SEE ACCOMPLISHED ON THE RETREAT.

WE'LL PUT AN AGENDA TOGETHER AND CIRCULATE IT.

I JUST THINK IT'S IMPERATIVE THAT YOU IN YOUR, SO WHAT DID THE RETREAT ON JUNE 11TH IS THAT WHAT I'M HEARING AND A TOUR ON JUNE 25TH? AND I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO GO ON A TOUR AND THEN AFTER THE TOUR AND TALK ABOUT STUFF THAT DIDN'T TREAT, WOULD WE LIKE TO ACCOMPLISH IT BOTH IN ONE DAY, GOOD MORNING, MORNING TO HER AFTERNOON.

CHIT-CHAT I DO IT ON THE 11TH.

I'M GOOD TIME.

NOT BECAUSE OF WHAT WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT, BUT WHAT WE NEED TO THINK ABOUT WHILE WE'RE TALKING, WE'RE HAVING TROUBLE GETTING THE ENTIRE BOARD HERE FOR ANY MEETINGS AND YOU KNOW, THAT'S ONE AND YOU'RE THE 11TH AND 18TH.

THAT'S AN OPTION.

I MEAN, OBVIOUSLY WE DIDN'T ASK EVERYBODY, BUT WE'RE TIRED, DUDE.

I CAN GO 18,000 CAL STATE OUT OF MINE.

PROXY IN YOUR QUESTION.

I HAVE TO THINK BIG BACK.

NOW, IF, IF YOU WANTED TO DO THE, I GUESS THE TOUR OF THE FACILITIES IN JUNE, AND THEN MAYBE PICK ANOTHER DATE, MAYBE IN JULY ACTIVITY IN JULY OR AUGUST, YOU KNOW, AND I CAN GET WITH DAVID AND HE CAN SELECT SOME MORE DICE AND I CAN SEND THE SMARTSHEET BACK OUT TO THE BOARD, UH, BEFORE THE, UH, NEXT MEETING AND WE'LL.

YEAH, BUT THAT WILL BE PERFECT FOR ENDORSE.

SO YEAH.

SO YOU'RE SUGGESTING THE UNDERWEAR JULY.

OH, THE INDOOR EITHER JULY OR AUGUST, UH, BE AVAILABLE MOST OF AUGUST.

OKAY.

I WAS ONE DEFER TO DAVID.

LIKE WE DID LAST TIME, PROVIDE ME SOME DATES THAT, UH, JULY IS PRETTY GOOD.

OF COURSE I DIDN'T RUN THIS BY MY BOSS, BUT YOU'RE RIGHT.

IT'S ALL GOOD.

SO DO IT.

SO POTENTIALLY LIKE JUNE 11TH AND THEN THE SECOND SIDE, WHICH IS LIKE THE SECOND SATURDAY AND DO THE SECOND SATURDAY OF JULY WOULD BE JULY 9TH.

THAT WILL BE GOOD.

JULY 9TH SOCCER TOURNAMENT AT WINTERS.

IS THAT A PROBLEM? IS THAT THE PROBLEM FOR

[00:35:01]

OUR RETREAT? WE MAY BE SHORT OF STAFF ON THAT DAY.

HOW ABOUT 16TH, JULY OR IT'S FOR ME? DOES THAT WORK OR THIS IS SOMEBODY I THINK IT'S GOING TO BE OKAY.

JULY 16TH.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE SOMETHING ON EVERY DAY BECAUSE I HAVE A DOT ON EVERY DAY AND CAN I MAKE A RECOMMENDATION THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO DO ON THE WEEKEND? WE CAN DO IT DURING THE WEEK.

SO YEAH, WE HAVE DONE THAT IN THE PAST.

AND LOU, UH, YOU KNOW, MEETING HERE WILL ACTUALLY MEET HERE AND GET ON A BUS AND HAVE MORE OF A MOBILE MEETING.

UM, COULD WE BREAK IT UP AND DO PART OF IT AT THE NEXT JUNE MEETING THAT WE'VE ALREADY, YOU KNOW, PENCILED IN THAT TIME, JUNE MEETING IS JUNE 1ST, WHICH I AM NOT AVAILABLE FOR, BUT I, SO FROM A STAFF STANDPOINT, I THINK THEY WOULD APPRECIATE A WEEK, DAY OPTION FOR THE RETREAT.

SORRY, I'M HEARING JUNE 1ST AS A POSSIBILITY TO DO SOME OF IT.

CAN WE PIECE BECAUSE WE'RE SPLITTING UP JULY, DO WE HAVE A LOT? THIS IS MAY DO WE HAVE A LOT COMING ON THE AGENDA FOR JUNE WHERE IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO COVER SOME OF IT ON THAT WEEKDAY ON THAT WEDNESDAY, JUNE 1ST? I WON'T BE HERE ON JUNE 1ST, BUT FOR THE, IF THAT'S THE RETREAT DISCUSSION LOOKING AT ME, NO, I I'M JUST, I GUESS, OFFERING THAT, IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A, A WEEKEND.

IF Y'ALL WANT TO DO A WEEKDAY, WE CAN DO A WEEKDAY.

I TRY NOT TO ADD ANOTHER DAY, BUT YOU'RE NOT AVAILABLE AT ALL ON TUESDAY.

W YEAH, I THINK IT'S BETTER TO DO RETREAT A DAY.

AND, UH, IN THE TOUR A DAY, I THINK DOING BOTH IN THE SAME DAY, IT'LL BE DIFFICULT.

YEAH, WE'VE DONE THAT.

TRIED THAT BEFORE, AND IT CAN BE DURING THE, ON A WEEKDAY DOESN'T MEAN IT HAS TO BE DURING THE DAY DAY, IT COULD BE IN THE EVENING OR, OR, UM, YOU KNOW, STARTED FOUR O'CLOCK AND ENDED SEVEN OR WHATEVER.

UM, SO IT IT'S CONDUCIVE TO PEOPLE'S WORK SCHEDULE IF WE NEED TO ACCOMMODATE THAT.

SO I WAS JUST BEING TOLD THAT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT WE COULD HAVE NEW BOARD MEMBERS AND AUGUST.

SO THE POINT JUST FYI.

SO, NO, I'M JUST, I'M JUST LETTING Y'ALL KNOW.

I DO A RETREAT AND MAYBE WAIT UNTIL WE HAVE, WE HAVE BOARD MEMBERS.

SO GET, WHEN I CAME ON AND JUST DONE SOMETHING A FEW MONTHS BEFORE I CAME ON, I THINK THAT'S AN EXCELLENT POINT.

DELETE, THANK YOU FOR THAT.

I THINK THAT IS A WORTHWHILE CONSIDERATION.

IT DOES TWO THINGS.

IT ALLOWS FOR THAT OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE OR NOT.

WE DON'T CAN'T PREDICT THAT, BUT THEN IT ACTS AS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO QUICKLY ORIENT A POTENTIAL NEW PERSON OR PERSONS.

SO MAYBE SEPTEMBER, CAN WE, CAN WE NOT MAYBE HAVE THE MEETING AT A DIFFERENT LOCATION? UH, THAT'S COMPLETED AND ALSO CONSIDER TOURING A CONSTRUCTED, UH, PLACE WITHOUT US ALL GETTING IN A BUS, OR MAYBE WE CAN LOOK AT LITTLE SHORT VESTS AND DID THAT TOO ON A REGULAR 90.

CAN WE JUST SPLIT IT UP? YOU'RE RECOMMENDING TWO DAYS.

I WAS JUST WONDERING YOUR PIECEMEAL WITH THE DATE WE ALREADY HAVE PLANNED, WHICH IS THE FIRST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH.

IF WE DO THE FIRST, IF IT'S PART OF THE REGULAR BOARD MEETING, IT HAS TO BE IN THIS ROOM.

THAT'S PER COUNCIL.

THEY WANT TO HAVE THE REGULAR BOARD MEETING IN THE SAME LOCATION SO THAT WE CAN GET THE RECORDING.

AND THAT IS CONSISTENT.

UH, SO IF PEOPLE WANTS TO ATTEND, BUT, BUT THEY RECOGNIZE THAT WE NEED TO CORRECT THE TIME, DO THINGS LIKE TAKE TOURS AND YEAH.

AND YOU JUST POST A NOTICE OF A QUORUM.

THAT'S NO PROBLEM.

IT'S JUST THE ACTUAL CONDUCT CONDUCTING OF THE PARK BOARD BUSINESS BEFORE WE PICKED UP COUNCIL MEMBERS.

I KNOW, YOU KNOW, W WE CAN COME BACK HERE AND GAMBLING AND GAMBLE OUT.

WE GOTTA MEET SOMEWHERE AND WE'RE GONNA GET ALL THAT WE'RE GOING TO DO THAT.

WHY MEAT KAVALAN GET ALOUD? WELL, YOU PICKING EVERYBODY OUT TO GO A DIFFERENT LOCATION.

YOU GOTTA MEET SOMEWHERE JUNE 11TH.

WE'LL PROBABLY MEET AT A CENTRAL LOCATION, JUST SO WE ALL GOING TO THE SAME LOCATIONS, RIGHT?

[00:40:01]

SO LET'S LET'S SO JUNE 11TH IS THE RETREAT, OR, I MEAN, I'M SORRY, IS THE I'VE ALREADY MESSED IT UP.

SO THE JUNE 11TH IS THE TOUR.

CAN WE AGREE ON THAT? JUNE 11TH SATURDAY'S TOUR? NOPE, 25TH.

I THINK IF WHAT I'M HEARING IS IT'S BETTER TO LET'S DETERMINE THE FUTURE RETREAT DATE WHEN WE KNOW MORE ABOUT THE BOARD MEMBER MAKEUP.

SO I DON'T THINK WE CAN SETTLE ON THAT DATE THAT FAR OUT RIGHT THIS MINUTE.

SO IF WE CAN GO AHEAD AND SETTLE ON THE TOUR DATE THAT'S SHOWN UP HERE IS, AM I? YES.

AND THEN, SO YOU'RE LOOKING AT IT LIKE A SATURDAY MORNING.

SO YOU HAVE THOSE TWO CHOICES BACK TO THE CHOICE OF, OF THE TOUR DATE, THOSE MORNING, SATURDAY, THE 11TH, OR THE 25TH, WHATEVER BRINGS THE MOST MEMBERSHIP WOULD BE GREAT FOR THE TOUR.

AND I WOULD BE HAPPY TO, I'D LOVE TO BE ON THAT.

SO I'M VOTING FOR THE 11TH, BUT IF, IF IT WORKS BEST FOR EVERYBODY ELSE ON THE 25TH, DON'T WAIT ON ME.

WHAT WE KNOW, UM, STRONG POSSIBILITY, LIKE AFTER MAY 7TH, IF THERE'S GOING TO BE ANY CHANGES, CAN WE JUST ASK? NO, I THINK WE'RE GOING TO NEED TO WAIT.

THERE'S NO WAY TO PREDICT THAT THERE'S, THERE'S, THERE'S A TIMEFRAME THAT, THAT CERTAIN TERMS I DON'T, I DON'T HAVE THE TERM AND THE TERMS IN FRONT OF ME, SO I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONES ARE UP AND WHICH ONES AREN'T, BUT AS NEW COUNCIL MEMBERS MAY OR MAY NOT COME ON BOARD, UM, I THINK IT'D BE PREMATURE TO PROGNOSTICATE WHAT THAT'S GOING TO LOOK LIKE.

I'D FEEL I'D FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE WAITING UNTIL THE COUNCIL TAKES ACTION ON WHAT THAT IS.

OKAY.

SO EVERY YEAR WE'RE GOING TO HAVE COUNCIL ELECTIONS AND EVERY YEAR THERE'S A CHANCE OF NEW APPOINTMENTS, BUT WE NOT ALWAYS HAVE THIS MUCH GOING ON.

THIS IS KIND OF AN UNIQUE SITUATION THAT WE'RE IN LOOKING AT NEW CONSTRUCTION, AND WE WON'T BE GETTING THE CHANCE TO SEE HER DISCUSS THAT.

IF WE JUST CONTINUED TO WAIT UNTIL I DID TWO DIFFERENT ISSUES, ONE IS THE TOUR, ONE'S THE RETREAT.

SO I THINK THE VALUE, RIGHT, RIGHT.

THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING.

SO TO HER ON THE 11TH AND THE RETREAT AFTER WE SEE THE NEW, WHERE ARE WE MEETING AND WHAT TIME WE WILL, WE WILL, WHERE ARE WE GOING TO MEET? IT'S DEPENDING ON WHAT LOCATIONS WE'RE GOING ON, MOST LIKELY I'M GOING TO SAY PART ADMIN OFFICE.

MOST LIKELY.

YES.

SO RIGHT NOW, DEPENDING ON WHERE WE GO, ALMOST SAY PART ADMIN OFFICE, BUT WE WILL SEND THAT OUT TIME AND EVERYTHING.

AND WE WILL HAVE A BOARD MEETING IN JUNE THAT WE CAN GO OVER THAT WITH EVERYBODY AT THE BOARD MEETING.

SO DO WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT PLACES PEOPLE WANT TO GO? YES.

THAT WOULD BE HELPFUL.

I'D LIKE TO SEE RECODE AND I HAVE THAT ON MY LIST.

YOU LEFT THERE, UM, BALL MAYBE.

AND IT WILL SAVE ALL SAY VOLLEYBALL FOR NEXT YEAR WHEN THEY GOT SOMETHING GOOD.

IT WON'T BE UNDER CONSTRUCTION YET.

YEAH.

SAME FOR, SAME FOR HOLFORD, MOLLY.

WHERE YOU'RE SAYING YOU WANT TO SEE ALL 2009% PART THAT'S MARGARET.

WHAT ABOUT THE SENIOR CENTER? YEAH.

LET'S COME LOOK.

LET'S COME BACK TO THAT.

IT'S ALL THE TIME.

I DON'T.

YEAH, I DON'T THINK SENIOR CINDER WILL BE AN OPTION.

IT'S UNDER DEMOLITION AT THE MOMENT PHASE, BUT NOT MUCH FRUSTRATION RISK DEPARTMENT FROWNS ON THAT.

UM, SO I HEARD, I HEARD CENTRAL SO MUCH TROUBLE.

I HEARD RICK ODIN.

I HEARD CENTRAL THEY'RE CLOSE TOGETHER.

I HEARD CENTRAL.

WHAT ELSE? WE'RE GONNA HAVE ANY SPLASH PADS IN BY THEN? NO, SIR.

LIKE A TRAIL WOULD BE A GOOD OPTION RAILS.

YOU CAN FIT THAT PLUS ON THE TRAIL.

I DON'T KNOW WHERE WE ARE AS FAR AS SHADING, BUT WE MAY, WE WILL HAVE SOME RESTROOMS. UH, NO BRET PARK IS DONE, BUT IF HOLFORD IS DONE IN TIME, THAT'S A BIGGER RESTROOM.

AND THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD LOCATION.

JUST GO SEE THE NEW RESTROOM BUILDINGS THAT WE GET IN.

IT'S NOT WELL, CENTRAL CENTRAL WILL HAVE ONE.

IF, IF WHOLE FOODS NOT READY, HOPEFULLY IT'S GOT A LITTLE WAYS TO GO.

SO I'M NOT OPTIMISTIC.

JUNE 11TH.

WE'LL BE LOOKING AT MEETING AT 7:00 AM OR OH, NO, NINE.

[00:45:01]

O'CLOCK FEELING LIKE A NINE O'CLOCK START.

AND MOST LIKELY WE'LL WE'LL STOP SOMEWHERE TO WE'LL TRY THE RESTROOMS OUT.

I DIDN'T SAY WELL, BUT THAT'S, THAT'S SUGGESTED I DIDN'T BRING THEM UP.

MATT OR DELETE.

DO YOU HAVE A SUGGESTION ON POSSIBLE SITES? THAT WOULD BE GREAT FOR A VISIT? I DIDN'T, I DIDN'T BRING MY, I FORGOT TO BRING MY SPREADSHEET ON THE PROJECTS AND COMMENTED THAT A COLUMN, A PLAYGROUND ALONG WITH LIKE THE, UM, IT'S A GOOD PLAYGROUND WOULD BE A GOOD ONE JUST BECAUSE CALLUM HAS GOT, UH, A DIFFERENT, UNIQUE PLAYGROUND PLAYGROUND.

I JUST TOLD THEM THAT GARLAND ROAD AND GARLAND ROAD.

OH, I KNOW WHERE IT IS.

BYE.

BYE.

BOB IS MY SON WITH YOU.

ONE OF MY SON'S FUNERAL HOME.

OKAY.

ALL RIGHT.

YEAH.

IS IT ALAMO OR TEASLEY? THAT'S IN CONSTRUCTION NOW THAT MAY BE DONE BY THAT TIME.

UH, PROBABLY WON'T BE OUT.

ALMA WOULD BE ALMOST DONE.

I WAS JUST TRYING TO THINK OF SOMETHING OTHER THAN SOUTH CARNEY.

CAUSE USUALLY WE GO IN SOMETHING BAD ABOUT GARLAND, OUR TOURS.

YOU KNOW, WHAT ABOUT JOHN? JOHN PAUL LEFT? THAT WILL BE HAPPENING AT JOHN PAUL JONES, WIND SURF BAY, MR. MOREHEAD.

AND I TALKED ABOUT THAT ON THE WAY OVER MAYBE SOFT TRAIL OR NORTH, BECAUSE BOTH OF THEM ARE GOOD AND YOU CAN EITHER SIDE SAY 10 FEET.

SOUNDS GOOD.

ONE OF THOSE WOULD BE GOOD TRAILS.

OKAY.

WELL WE'LL NAIL DOWN.

EXACTLY.

WHICH ONE WHEN WE SEND THE AGENDA OUT.

BUT YEAH, I THINK, YEAH, KIND OF THINK ABOUT THE ROUTE.

CAUSE YOU CAN GET LONG IF YOU PUT TOO MANY THINGS ON OR WE'VE DONE, I'VE NEVER BEEN ON A TOUR WHERE WE DID EVERYTHING THAT WAS ON THE AGENDA.

ABSOLUTELY.

AND THEN YOU CAN GO DOWN THE CREEK OR THE DUCK CREEK PLAYGROUND.

YOU COULD SEE SOME PARKING LOT PROJECTS.

YOU CAN SEE THE BRIDGE PROJECT THAT YOU CAN FOLLOW, GO DOWN AND SEE THE EXTENSION UNDERNEATH 30 AND WHERE IT CONNECTS.

BE NICE HERITAGE.

YEAH.

THAT'S GOOD.

SO WE'RE GOING TO GO TO SOUTH GARLAND, A LOT OF ON OUR LAST TOUR.

SO IT WOULD BE GOOD TO INCLUDE IT ON THIS.

TH THIS IS A GOOD STARTING LIST.

WE DON'T HAVE TO MAKE IT PERFECT TONIGHT, BUT I THINK THIS GIVES US A LOT OF YEAH.

IF YOU FIGURE THE ROUTES CAUSE MORE SENSE.

CAUSE YOU KNOW, IF YOU GO THIS WAY, THIS WAY, THIS WAY, NO, WE DON'T WANT TO DO THAT.

TAKES FOREVER.

WE'LL TRY TO BE EFFICIENT AS IF WE'RE TALKING HERE, YOU KNOW, IT MIGHT BE BETTER TO BE AT AUTOBON REC CENTER IN STANDARD PART ADMIN OFFICE.

SO WAKE ME UP.

YEAH, HE'S IN THE BATHROOM AT CENTRAL PARK.

YES, SIR.

DONUTS AND COFFEE BEFOREHAND, BECAUSE AT NINE O'CLOCK THERE'S GOING TO BE SOMEBODY LATE.

THEY SHOULD BRING THE COFFEE AND DONUTS.

EIGHT 30 FOR COFFEE, DONUTS AND CAJUN DONUTS.

THAT'D BE IT AND GET A STARTED UP.

AND THEN WHAT I'M GOING TO RECOMMEND ON THE RETREAT IS THAT I WILL SEND Y'ALL SOMETHING SIMILAR TO I DID WITH THE, UH, DATES AND JUST HAVE Y'ALL MAYBE PROVIDE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR THE RETREAT.

AND THEN, UH, DAVID, YOU'RE GOING TO PROVIDE ME SOME POSSIBLE DATES.

SURE.

AND WE WILL SEND THAT BACK OUT FOR Y'ALL TO SELECT POSSIBLE DATES, ADMIN.

YEAH.

SO THE RETREAT JUST NOT GOING TO BE HERE.

YEAH.

SO WE WON'T, WE WON'T DESIGNATE A RETREAT DATE YET, BUT WE WILL GIVE YOU ALL TOOLS TO BE ABLE TO SUBMIT IDEALS AND DAVIS WON'T PROVIDE ME SOME POSSIBLE DATES.

YEAH.

IF ANYBODY HAS SOME PARTICULARLY WANT TO BE SURE IS ON THERE, JUST LET ME KNOW AND I'LL PROVIDE THAT BECAUSE USUALLY I JUST LOOK AT MY AGENDA AND MY SCHEDULE AND SAY, OH, THAT WORKS SATURDAY, JUNE 11TH, MOLLY.

WON'T BE, HOLLY'S BRINGING IT DOWN AND IT'S OKAY.

VERY GOOD.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, KEITH.

ALL RIGHT.

WARD WARD, TWO MANUFACTURING, VICTORY ONLINE.

WE'RE READY WHEN YOU, CAN YOU DRIVE THE CLICKER FOR ME? YES.

THANK YOU.

THAT'S THE REASON I'M STAYING HERE.

[00:50:01]

THANK YOU.

APPRECIATE THAT.

UH, SO WE WERE ASKED TO PROVIDE AN UPDATE ON, UM, SOMETHING THAT THE HERITAGE CROSSING STAFF IS WORKING ON.

UH, THERE'S A LOT OF INTERESTING OPPORTUNITIES THAT ARE OUT THERE AND COUNCILMAN ALBAN, UH, PARTICULARLY BROUGHT THIS UP OVER A YEAR AGO THAT THERE'S A, THERE'S A MUCH LARGER WORLD WAR II, UM, EXHIBIT THAT EXISTS.

AND THIS IS A TRAVELING EXHIBIT PORTION OF IT.

AND IT'S PARTICULARLY CENTERED AROUND THE MANUFACTURING PORT PORTION OF IT AND CALLED THE ARSENAL OF DEMOCRACY.

UM, SO HE ASKED US TO LOOK INTO IT.

UM, IT TOOK US A YEAR TO GET ON THEIR CALENDAR.

UM, SO IT WAS AVAILABLE TO US, UH, THIS YEAR STARTING IN, UH, ACTUALLY IT OPENS ON D-DAY JUNE 6TH, I BELIEVE.

SO.

UM, OUR, OUR HERITAGE COSTING STAFF, UH, PUT TOGETHER THIS, UH, THIS PROGRAM WE WORKED WITH.

GO AHEAD AND GO TO THE NEXT SLIDE IF YOU DON'T MIND.

KEITH, THANK YOU.

UM, AND I WON'T READ THROUGH ALL OF THIS, BUT BASICALLY WHAT WE'RE DOING IS IS THIS A TRAVELING EXHIBIT? UM, WE PAID FOR THE RIGHTS AND THE SHIPPING AND THE THINGS THAT THEY COME AND WORK WITH US AND HELP US SET UP.

IT'S IT'S A PERFECT SIZE FOR, UM, CITY HALL LOBBY RIGHT OUT IN THE FRONT.

IT'S ON THE CARPET, IT'S SPACED ABOUT A THOUSAND SQUARE FEET.

THERE ARE SOME PARAMETERS TO, UM, THE CONTRACT WHEN YOU DO TAKE THE EXHIBIT.

UM, IT HAS TO BE SECURE.

IT HAS TO HAVE CERTAIN LIGHTING HAS TO HAVE OTHER CERTAIN PARAMETERS.

UM, AND SO IT SEEMED AT CITY HALL WAS THE PERFECT MIX OF ALL OF THOSE THINGS.

UM, SO THEY'LL, THEY BRING IN THESE, UH, REALLY NICE PROFESSIONAL, UM, EXHIBIT BOARDS WITH, UM, THE INTERPRETIVE INFORMATION RELATED TO THE PHOTOS AND THE ARTIFACTS AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

SO I'M REALLY EXCITED TO BRING THAT AND WE HOPEFULLY WILL CONTINUE TO BE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE BUDGET, UH, TO BRING THESE TRAVELING EXHIBITS BOTH FROM A HISTORY STANDPOINT AND AN ART.

UM, NEXT SLIDE PLEASE, SIR.

UM, AND SO AGAIN, I WON'T READ THROUGH ALL THIS, BUT YOU CAN LOOK THROUGH, THERE IS SOME, SOME HISTORY THAT IS UNIQUE TO GARLAND.

AND SO, UM, WE'RE GONNA, WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH THE CURATORS, TO TAKE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE AND THEY PUT IT INTO THEIR EXHIBIT AND MAKE IT LOOK, MATCH THEIRS AND PROFESSIONAL AND THE WHOLE BIT.

UM, AND SO AS OUR, WE HAVE ONE AND A HALF STAFF PERSONS, CITY STAFF THAT, THAT OPERATE THE HERITAGE CROSSING MUSEUM AND THEY, UM, WE HAVE, UH, A PARTNERSHIP AND AN AGREEMENT WITH THE LANDMARK SOCIETY NON-PROFIT GROUP THAT IS THE KEEPER AND THE CURATOR OF A GREAT DEAL OF, OF GARLANDS, UM, UH, HISTORY.

AND SO THEY, UH, WILL, WILL GIVE US PERMISSION TO USE CERTAIN PHOTOS TO INCORPORATE, UM, IN THIS EXHIBIT.

AND SO YOU CAN SEE THERE'S THAT SOME OF THOSE NAMES THAT ARE ON THERE, UM, PARTICIPATED EITHER DURING THE WAR OR AFTER THE WAR IN MANUFACTURING, CERTAIN COMPONENTS OF THE AMERICAN WAR EFFORT WHERE WHERE'S THAT SOUTHERN AIRCRAFT CORPORATION RIGHT NOW, MY GRANDFATHER WORKED HERE.

WHY DIDN'T Y'ALL KNOW IT.

WASN'T RIGHT THERE.

WE'VE STAYED HERE.

OH, GENERAL DYNAMICS.

ISN'T IT.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S THERE NOW.

THEY'RE STILL MAKING BOMBS.

I'VE SEEN CASEY'S THERE A FEW YEARS AGO.

WHAT'S THE WHAT'S ON THE NEXT SLIDE, MR. KEITH.

UM, SO WHEN WE PUT THIS TOGETHER, UM, AGAIN, THE STAFF PERSON IS JUST ONE PERSON, SO IT TAKES A LOT OF US TO PITCH IN AND MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

SO WE HAD A LOT OF HELP FROM THE CVB FOLKS, UH, DOROTHY'S TEAM WITH PUBLIC AND MEDIA RELATIONS AND FACILITIES OBVIOUSLY.

AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IS HELPING PITCH IN A LITTLE BIT OF FUNDING FOR, FOR MARKETING AND ACTIVATION.

SO WE'VE GOT A LOT OF FOLKS THAT HAVE REALLY PITCHED IN TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

UM, A GREAT DEAL OF MARKETING EFFORT IS GOING INTO THIS.

I THINK THAT MIGHT BE THE LAST SLIDERS OR ONE MORE.

UM, AND SO QUITE A BIT OF, UH, MARKETING AND INFORMATION GOING OUT TO GET FOLKS HERE.

SO IT'LL RUN, UH, THROUGH AUGUST.

I DON'T REMEMBER THE EXACT DATE.

I WENT TOO FAST AND MISSED THE DATE, BUT ANYWAY, WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO IS IT'S AVAILABLE, UM, ON THE WEEKENDS AND I BELIEVE THURSDAY AND FRIDAYS AFTER HOURS, UH, OR, UH, THE MARSHALL'S OFFICE IS GOING TO, UH, HELP US WITH THE SECURITY AFTER HOURS AND ON WEEKENDS.

SO THEY'RE PARTICIPATING.

UM, AND WE REALLY APPRECIATE THAT.

OTHERWISE IT WOULDN'T BE POSSIBLE, SO THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL.

UM, SO A LOT WENT INTO IT.

UM, WE'RE KIND OF EXCITED TO SEE THE RESPONSE.

I THINK IT'S ANOTHER GREAT THING TO BRING IN IF I COULD READ THAT I WOULD.

SO WHAT YOU WILL SEE FIRST IS THE VIP INVITATION TYPE EVENT, AND THAT'S THE INVITE LIST ROUGHLY.

THERE'S A LOT MORE THAN THAT, BUT, UM, AND WE'LL HAVE SOME SPEAKERS AND SOME SNACKS AND DRINKS AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

SO THAT, THAT IS ON FRIDAY, JUNE 3RD, AND THEN IT OPENS TO THE PUBLIC ON, UM, I BELIEVE JUNE 6TH, YES, JUNE SIX THROUGH THE 15TH AND THE VIP RECEPTIONS ON THE THIRD OF FOUR TO SIX.

THANK YOU.

PERFECT.

SO THAT'S, WHAT'S COMING UP.

UM, IT'S, IT'S KIND OF AN INTERESTING THING.

SO, YOU KNOW, THE MUSEUM IS, IS,

[00:55:02]

IS TECHNICALLY NOT A PARKS AND REC DEPARTMENT, BUT, UM, IT IS ABSOLUTELY, UM, UH, AN INTEGRAL PART OF, YOU KNOW, OBVIOUSLY NOT JUST GARLAND'S HISTORY, BUT, UH, AN ATTRACTION, UH, FOR BOTH, UH, DAY TRIPPERS, OVERNIGHT FOLKS.

AND SO WE WITH CVB AND RECREATION AND LIBRARY AND PARKS AND ALL THESE OTHER DEPARTMENTS, WE TRY TO PUT THESE THINGS TOGETHER THAT HELP BRING PEOPLE FROM OUT OF TOWN AND HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WHEN THEY VISIT.

AND SO ANOTHER GREAT WAY TO GET FOLKS DOWNTOWN, UH, DURING A DIFFICULT TIME DURING CONSTRUCTION.

SO IT'S KIND OF A LOT OF PIECES COMING TOGETHER FOR A LOT OF REASONS.

SO WE'RE, WE'RE EXCITED AND HOPE TO BE ABLE TO DO A LOT MORE OF THESE.

SO IS THERE A WEBPAGE OR SOMETHING THAT, YOU KNOW, IF I WANTED TO SHARE THIS WAS FROM FRIENDS OUT OF TOWN THAT MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN MANUFACTURING.

NOW WE CAN, OR NOT, UH, CITY, UH, CITY PAGE.

I'D HAVE TO LOOK, UM, LET ME GET BACK TO YOU ON THAT EMAIL TO YOU.

OKAY.

YEAH.

CAUSE I, I, I GOT A COUPLE OF FRIENDS THAT ARE LIKE SUPER, ABSOLUTELY.

UM, I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S ON VISIT GARLAND YET, AND I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S ON OUR CITY PAGE YET, AND I'LL TELL YOU WHY.

WE, WE LITERALLY JUST GOT THE CONTRACT FROM THIS ORGANIZATION PROBABLY 60 DAYS AGO.

AND THEN ONCE WE GOT THAT, WE'RE HITTING THE GROUND RUNNING TO GET EVERYTHING PUT IN PLACE.

SO THERE ARE, THERE ARE STILL SOME EVENTS SURROUNDING THIS THAT ARE STILL IN, IN, IN THE WORKS AND SOME OTHER THINGS.

SO I WILL MAKE SURE EVERYBODY HAS THAT INFORMATION.

THERE'S A L THERE'S A LINK TO IT ON THE HERITAGE PAGE, BUT IT IS A MATTER OF FACTUAL-VICTORY.ORG.

YOU STAND ON LANDMARK SOCIETY OR HERITAGE CROSSING, HERITAGE CROSS, RIGHT THERE, PART OF THE LANDMARK SOCIETY.

I KNOW A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT IT.

YOU THINK THAT COULD BE ON THEIR PAGE TOO? SINCE I WAS SO EXCITED, YOU'RE ABOUT GETTING MORE EXCITED ABOUT, I CAN IMAGINE LET'S HOPE IT CAN DO SOMETHING ANYWHERE NEAR WHAT THE VIETNAM WALL.

THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.

THANK YOU.

ANY QUESTIONS ON THAT? THANK YOU FOR INCLUDING THAT.

THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME.

I APOLOGIZE THAT IT WAS NOT ON THERE WITHOUT BEING NUDGED, BUT WE HAVE SO MANY THINGS GOING ON AND I UNDERSTAND IT'S DIFFICULT.

I DO AT LEAST LOOK AT THE AGENDA FOR THE, UH, UM, COUNSEL.

AND SO I KNOW WHEN PART THINGS COME UP, SO WE WERE ALSO PAY BY MATT .

YEAH, HE CAN'T, HE COULDN'T DRIVE UP WELL, I'LL KICK US OFF WITH YOUR FENCE, RIGHT? UH, W WE'VE AGAIN, I THINK EVERYONE'S AWARE THIS HAS BEEN A CHALLENGE, UH, FOR, FOR QUITE SOME TIME.

AND I WON'T EVEN TRY TO GUESS THE AMOUNT OF YEARS THAT, THAT THIS TOPIC HAS BEEN, UM, LOOKED AT, I CAN TELL YOU THE MOST RECENT HISTORY OF IT IS, IS THAT, UM, LOTS OF THINGS ALONG LAKE RAY HUBBARD HAVE CHANGED, MEANING OTHER FACILITIES HAVE CHANGED OWNERSHIP OR CLOTHES THAT WERE ACCESSED TO THE LAKE.

AND SO IT PUSHED A GREAT DEAL MORE, UM, INTO THE, IN THE WIND SURF BAY, UM, PARK.

SO, UM, WHAT WE WERE ASKED OVER SOME TIME IS TO LOOK AT A VARIETY OF OPTIONS AND WE'VE LOOKED AT, UM, AND PRESENTED BOTH HERE AND AT, AND AT CITY COUNCIL, A GREAT DEAL OF OPTIONS, SHORT-TERM INTERMEDIATE AND LONG-TERM, AND THEN THE COST ASSOCIATED WITH THOSE OPTIONS, AS WELL AS THE STAFFING, UH, NEEDED ASSOCIATED WITH THOSE OPTIONS.

SO THE MOST RECENT UPDATE IS, UM, AS YOU RECALL, THE, THE DECISION AND THE ORDINANCE THAT WENT ALONG WITH THAT DECISION WAS TO CLOSE THE PARK.

UM, AND IF MATT, IF YOU CAN KIND OF SHOW WHERE THAT WE PUT THE FENCE IN THE, IN THE GATE WAS TO CLOSE THE PARK FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY.

UM, AND THAT WAS THE GOAL OF THAT WAS TO, UM, MINIMIZE THE, THE INTENSE NUMBER OF PEOPLE, LARGE CROWDS THAT HAVE BEEN, UM, SHOWING UP AT THE PARK AND CREATING SOME REAL CHALLENGES FOR THE NEIGHBORS, FOR THE TRAFFIC IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND FROM A PUBLIC SAFETY STANDPOINT, ACCESS FOR POLICE AND FIRE STARTED BECOMING A VERY, VERY SIGNIFICANT CHALLENGE.

SO AS YOU COME IN THERE, WE HAD IT, WE HAD A GATE THAT, THAT WE WOULD CLOSE AND HAD SOME SIGNAGE.

AND SO THE PARK WAS OPEN.

UM, MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY, WE CLOSED IT FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY, THAT THE DOWNSIDE OF THAT IS, IS THAT THE FOLKS IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA ALSO LIKE TO HAVE THAT PARK AS THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD PARK ON THE WEEKENDS, A LOT OF DOG WALKING, A LOT OF JUST GENERAL USE OF THE PARK AND WHATNOT.

SO THERE WAS A TRADE-OFF, UH, SO, UH, COUNCIL MEMBER, MORE OF THIS DISTRICT ASKED US TO LOOK AT AN INTERMEDIATE OPTION, AND THIS IS AN OPTION THAT HAS BEEN USED IN THE PAST WITH A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF SUCCESS.

AND THAT IS TO, UM, PROVIDE A FENCE ALL THE

[01:00:01]

WAY FROM THAT PRIVATE PROPERTY OWNER AT THE SOUTHERN TIP, ALL THE WAY TO THE, TO THE NORTHERN PART OF THE PARK, JUST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DRIVEWAY, AND THEN TURNS TO THE EAST TOWARDS THE WATER.

UM, THE, THE REASON THAT THAT'S BEEN A SUCCESSFUL OPTION IN THE PAST, AND THEN WE THINK WILL BE A SUCCESSFUL OPTION NOW IS THAT THE, THE CROWDS ARE
