PRIOR TO THE BEGINNING OF THE MEETING, YOU'RE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IF YOU SO CHOOSE.

YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN EITHER OR BOTH. YOUR DECISION IS STRICTLY A MATTER OF YOUR OWN CHOICE. IT HAS NO BEARING ON MATTERS TO BE CONSIDERED HERE AND WILL NOT AFFECT ANY DECISIONS TO BE MADE BY THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL IN ANY MANNER. SERVICE RECOGNITION WEEK MAY 2ND 2023, WHEREAS CELEBRATED THE FIRST FULL WEEKEND MAY SINCE 1985 PUBLIC SERVICE RECOGNITION WEEK IS A TIME SET ASIDE TO HONOR THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO SERVE OUR NATION AS FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES. WHEREAS PUBLIC SERVICE RECOGNITION WEEK CONNECTS AND EDUCATE CITIZENS NATIONWIDE TO THE WORK OF THEIR GOVERNMENT CELEBRATES THE DEDICATION AND EFFORTS OF PUBLIC SECTOR EMPLOYEES AND HELPS INSPIRE A NEW GENERATION OF PUBLIC SERVANTS, WHEREAS AS AN ORGANIZATION WE WANT TO FOSTER PRIDE AMONG PUBLIC SERVANTS BY RECOGNIZING THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS. AS WELL AS INTRODUCE THE PUBLIC TO THE WIDE RANGE OF EMPLOYMENT AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT, WHEREAS DURING THIS TIME ALL CITIZENS ARE ENCOURAGED TO RECOGNIZE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF PUBLIC SECTOR EMPLOYEES AND VOLUNTEERS AT ALL LEVELS AS WELL AS SEEK OPPORTUNITIES TO SUPPORT THEIR COMMUNITY THROUGH SERVICE. COUNCIL MEMBERS APPRECIATE THE RECOGNITION FOR THE 2000, PLUS WOMEN AND MEN THAT WORK FOR TEAM GARLAND THAT COME EVERY DAY TO SERVE THEIR COMMUNITY AND TO GIVE BACK IN A LOT OF DIFFERENT WAYS YOU TALK ABOUT THE MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF POSITIONS WE HAVE HERE AT THE CITY OF GARLAND THAT HELP KEEP THE QUARTER OF MILLION PEOPLE IN GARLAND HAPPY WITH CLEAN, WATER SAFE COMMUNITY, UM, WELL MAINTAINED STREETS AND PARKS. THERE'S MANY, MANY THINGS THAT WE DO FOR THE CITY CITY OF GARLAND RESIDENTS. OTHER LEADERS WILL BE PRAYING FOR OUR SCHOOLS, OUR FAMILIES. THE CAMPUS IS SURROUNDED BY RESIDENCES ON THE NORTH AND EAST AND A STRIP SHOPPING CENTER WITH A PAWNSHOP CARWASH AND CHICKEN FISH PLACE ON THE SOUTH SIDE. ACROSS THE HIGHWAY OR RAILROAD TRACKS, MANUFACTURING PLANTS AND USED CAR LOTS. THE GROUNDS ARE LITERALLY A SIGHT FOR SORE EYES . AND WHEREAS THIS MINISTRY BEGAN IN JANUARY OF 1961 WHEN EL BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH BOUGHT 2.7 ACRES THAN ERECTED A BUILDING WITH A 150 SEAT AUDITORIUM IN JULY 1962. THE NAME WAS CHANGED TO LIVE ON DRY BAPTIST CHURCH IN JUNE, 1965. A NEW AUDITORIUM WAS BUILT SEATING 650, THEN IN 1968 , A PRESCHOOL BUILDING WAS ADDED IN 1971. THEY BOUGHT 9.5 MORE ACRES AND CONSTRUCTED AT 2200 SEAT AUDITORIUM, THEN STARTED GARLAND CHRISTIAN ACADEMY IN 1972. NOW THE CAMPUS SLIGHTLY OVER 10 ACRES CONTAINS A WORSHIP CENTER. CLASSROOMS DAYCARE, THREE PLAYGROUNDS, OFFICES AND PLAYING FIELDS FOR BASEBALL, FOOTBALL, SOCCER AND WHEREAS IN 1997 ROBBIE GREEN CAME TO THE CHURCH AFTER JUST GRADUATING FROM COLLEGE AS A GROUNDS INTERN AND AFTER MOVING UP THROUGH MANY OFFICES, WAS LATER INSTALLED. A SENIOR PASTOR IN 2014 WHEN THE CHURCH BEGAN A MASSIVE REBUILDING AND LANDSCAPING PROJECT IN 2018, PASTOR GREEN WAS A DESIGNER. OF THE NEW LANDSCAPING PLAN DURING 2019 AND 2020 HUNDREDS OF NEW PLANTS FROM COVINGTON'S NURSERY WERE

INSTALLED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR OLD PLAN TO REMOVE CECIL SEASONAL ONES ARE PLANTED. AFTER EASTER, THE BEDS ARE FILLED WITH SUMMER HEAT RESISTANT PLANTS. EVEN DRIVE WAS ABLE TO HAVE AN OPEN HOUSE AND FULL SERVICES ON CHRISTMAS 2020. THE FRONT OF THE CAMPUS WAS DEDICATED WITH DECORATED FOR CHRISTMAS, CREATING A WELCOME BRIGHT SPOT IN THE DARK, DREARY DAYS OF DECEMBER, AND COVID 19. THE CHRISTMAS LANDSCAPE IS SPECTACULAR AND WHEREAS WE'RE COMING DOWN THE HOMESTRETCH. THE CAMPUS A WELCOMING SITE INVITES VISITORS TO THE CAMPUS PERGOLA WITH TABLES AND CHAIRS, FIRE PIT AND BEAUTIFUL PLANTINGS IS LOCATED NEAR THE ROAD, MAKING AN EASY STOP. PEOPLE ARE INVITED TO USE THE WALKING TRAILS AND LISTEN TO MUSIC FROM SPEAKERS LOCATED THROUGHOUT THE CAMPUS. THE AWAKENED COFFEEHOUSES OPEN FROM 7 TO 4 MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. UM ACCORDING TO ASSOCIATE PASTOR KIRBY RICHMOND . THAT WOULD BE KIRBY. UM THEIR GOAL IS TO WORSHIP GOD AND BE FAITHFUL STEWARDS OF WHAT GOD HAS PROVIDED WHILE SERVING THE COMMUNITY. THEY ARE DOING THIS WITH THEIR BEAUTIFUL GROUNDS THAT SOOTHE THE BODY AND SOUL.
