UM, BACK IN MAY OF 2019, AS Y'ALL KNOW, UH, OF RESIDENTS APPROVED A $423.7 MILLION BOND PROGRAM WITH THE, UH, PROPOSITIONS YOU SEE ON THE SCREEN THERE.

TODAY'S PRESENTATION IS A KINDA ABBREVIATED UPDATE OF, UH, STATUS OF THOSE KEY PRO SEVERAL KEY SEVERAL KEY PROJECTS IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS.

UH, WE'LL BE BRINGING FORWARD, UH, PROJECTS FOR ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATION FOR THE 2024, UH, CIP.

UM, JUST KINDA OVERALL, THERE'S SO MANY PROJECTS OF SO MANY DIFFERENT PROGRAMS OF, OF ALL VARIOUS SIZES.

UM, LOOKING AT PROGRESS TODAY FROM THE STANDPOINT OF, YOU KNOW, WHAT PROJECTS DON'T, DO NOT APPEAR IN THE CIP ANYMORE.

THERE'S A, I THINK 54, THERE'S ABOUT HALF OF THE PROJECTS THAT'LL BE NOT IN THIS 2024 CIP BECAUSE THEY'VE REACHED A POINT IN COMPLETION WHERE THERE'S NO LONGER NEEDED.

IT'S FOR, IN TERMS OF ADDITIONAL FUNDING REQUESTED OR TO BE EXPENDED.

SO THAT'S, IT WAS GREAT.

IT'S, IT'S, TO ME, YOU WORK ON THESE THINGS EVERY DAY.

YOU DON'T THINK ABOUT THAT, AND THEN YOU GET TO WORK ON THE CIP AND YOU GO, OH, WOW, LOOK AT THAT.

WE'VE ACTUALLY MADE SOME GREAT PROGRESS.

SO IT'S, THEY'RE REALLY HAPPY TO, TO BE ABLE TO SAY THAT.

UM, OF THE ONES THAT ARE REMAINING, UM, 19 OF 'EM ARE IN DESIGN.

THERE'S 24 THAT ARE CURRENTLY IN CONSTRUCTION.

WE'VE GOT, UH, ABOUT EIGHT PROJECTS THAT ARE PENDING COMPLETION OF RIGHT OF WAY ACQUISITION, UH, FRANCHISE UTILITY RELOCATIONS, UH, AND WE'VE GOT THREE PROJECTS THAT ARE, UH, IN CLOSE OUT, UH, JUST HAVEN'T QUITE GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE WE CAN TAKE 'EM OUTTA THE CIP FOR NEXT YEAR, BUT, UH, THEY'RE, THEY'RE GETTING OFF OF CLOSE.

SO THAT'S REALLY GREAT NEWS.

UH, SINCE OUR LAST, WELL, PART OF THE GOOD, GOOD NEWS HERE SINCE OUR LAST, UH, UPDATE, UH, TO YOU, UM,

THIS IS BACK IN JULY, UM, TINSLEY PARK RIBBON CUTTING AS WELL AS THE WIND PLAYGROUND AND SPLASH PAD ROUND, UH, RIBBON CUTTING, WHICH, UH, WAS A GREAT DAY.

I GUESS I WASN'T ABLE TO ATTEND.

APPARENTLY IT WAS A NICE HOT DAY.

SAW THE KIDS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, GOT TO COME OUT AND HAVE A GOOD TIME RIGHT AWAY AT THE SPLASH PAD AND A FEW ADULTS WHO REMAIN NAMELESS .

BUT NO, WE'RE, WE'RE GRATEFUL, UH, JUST FROM STANDPOINT OF BEING A CONSULTANT TO THE CITY.

WE LOVE CLIENTS WHO LOVE TO CELEBRATE THEIR SUCCESSES.

WE LOVE HOW GARLAND DOES IT AND, AND WE'RE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE AND, AND JUST SEE SMILES THAT EVERYBODY'S FACES IS REALLY A GREAT, UH, PUT A FINE POINT ON WHAT THE WORK WE'RE TRYING TO DO HERE.

ONE OF THE MOST HIGHLY ANTICIPATED PROJECTS FROM THE 2019 BOMB PROGRAM IS THE DOWNTOWN SQUARE INFRASTRUCTURE AND STREETS SCAPES COMPLETION.

AND SO OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS, WE'VE ALL GOT ALL GOTTEN A WITNESS.

UH, A SITE THAT WAS JUST A BIG BLANK GRAY SITE FOR THE LONGEST TIME LATELY, BECAME MORE AND MORE GREEN, MORE AND MORE FINISHED, UH, AND JUST A REAL GREAT SUCCESS, UH, TO SEE THAT COME TO A REALITY.

UM, ELEMENTS, KEY ELEMENTS THERE, THE DISTINCTIVE GATEWAY, FEATURE, SHAPE, PAVILION, UH, PROMENADE LEADING INTO THE IMAGINATIVE, IMAGINATIVE PLAY AREA, UH, REALLY CREATES A GREAT SPACE FOR PEOPLE TO, TO LIVE, YOU KNOW, GREAT LIVES AND HAVE SOME, UH, VERY ENJOYABLE TIMES.

UM, OCTOBER 14TH, I'M SURE Y'ALL REMEMBER IT WAS A GREAT DAY, .

I KNOW THERE'S LOTS OF DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS INVOLVED, BUT SPECIAL EVENTS PUT ON A GREAT EVENT.

EVERYONE HAD A GREAT TIME AND, UH, JUST APPRECIATE, UH, EVERYONE'S PARTICIPATION ON STAFF.

SO AS FAR AS THE SQUARE, UH, IT'S, IT'S COMPLETE.

THE STREETSCAPE WORK IS NOT QUITE COMPLETE YET.

THERE'S, UH, ABOUT 85% OF THE STREETSCAPES ARE COMPLETED.

UM, THE CONTRACT IS MOBILIZING AGAIN THIS WEEK TO COMPLETE MORE OF THAT WORK.

THEN THE, PARDON ME, THEN THERE WILL BE A PAUSE TO WAIT FOR A BETTER PLANTING SEASON FOR THEM TO COME IN AND PLANT SOME OF THE, UH, VEGETATION THAT'S MORE SENSITIVE TO COLD WEATHER.

SO, SO THERE'LL BE A LITTLE BIT OF PAUSE THERE AND THEY'LL COME FINISH IT UP IN THE SPRING.

MOVING ON TO ANOTHER TOPIC HERE, A PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT, SOMETHING THAT, UH, WE INTENDED TO START HERE AND THEN COVID HIT.

SO THAT WAS REALLY PUT ON, PUT ON HOLD.

HAD SEVERAL REQUESTS FROM DIFFERENT NEIGHBORHOODS FOR DIFFERENT SPECIFIC PROJECTS TO COME OUT AND HAVE A PRE PRESENTATION.

AND SO WE'VE STARTED THOSE AGAIN AND THEY'VE GONE PRETTY WELL.

HAD, UH, A TRAIL THE NAME OF FORCE CONNECTION TRAIL, UH, ON AUGUST 22ND, HAD SUPPORT FROM A ZED OTT AND MARK ELLEN FROM THE PARKS DEPARTMENT TO HELP ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE INTENT OF TRAILS AND HOW THE TRAIL PROJECTS THAT WE HAD, UH, FIT INTO THE TRAILS AND BIKEWAYS MASTER PLAN.

UM, AND SO THAT WENT, WASN'T A TON OF PEOPLE THAT ATTENDED, BUT IT WAS, IT WAS, WAS, UH, PRETTY WELL RECEIVED.

UH, ANOTHER ONE, WE HAVE WASHIL ROAD OPEN HOUSE, UH, OVER AT THE, UH, THE ATRIUM AND, UH, RESIDENTS GOT A CHANCE TO LEARN ABOUT THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS, GET FEEDBACK FROM THE ENGINEERS, AND GIVE SOME COMMENTS, UM, ON, ON THOSE.

SO THAT'S STARTED UP AGAIN.

WE'VE GOT ANOTHER ONE PLANNED.

UH, COMING UP AT THE END OF THE MONTH ON OCTOBER 28TH, WE'LL HAVE A, A DRAINAGE PROJECT.

UM, I JUMPED AHEAD, DIDN'T I, , UM, OUR DRAINAGE PROJECT, OPEN HOUSE FOR OUR THREE DRAINAGE PROJECTS.

THAT'S A COUNTRY CLUB, PARK ESTATES, UH, SATURN SPRINGS ESTATES, YEP.

AND MONTCLAIR, UH, NEIGHBORHOODS NUMBER TWO AND THREE.

WE'LL HAVE THE ENGINEERS AVAILABLE.

UH, IT WILL DISCUSS WHAT THE CURRENT ISSUES ARE, PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS AND HOW IT'S GONNA HELP THE NEIGHBORHOOD GET THE, GET THE WATER TO DRAIN, UH, AND, AND IMPROVED, IMPROVED THE DRAINAGE THERE.

OH, AND I JUST COVERED ALL THOSE.

SO, SO ALL THOSE THREE ARE IN DESIGN PHASE, UH, FROM 30 TO 90%, UH, COMPLETE.

UM, AND JUST MOVING, MOVING ALONG, UH, TRAILS.

WE'VE, UH, ACTUALLY HAD SOME TRAILS COMPLETED.

ONE, UH, BIG SEGMENT WAS IN THE RICK ODEN PARK AREA, AND ANOTHER ONE THAT JUST RECENTLY COMPLETING.

GOT A LITTLE TOUCH UP THINGS TO FINISH.

BUT, UH, THE BISBEE TRANSMISSION TRAIL, UM, IS ALSO IN THERE.

OTHER TRAILS, UH, HAVE BEGUN, UH, WITH SOME SUPPORT FROM DALLAS COUNTY FUNDING.

UH, OTHER TRAILS ARE GETTING UNDERWAY AS WELL AS YOU SEE THERE.

SO WE HAVE FINALLY STARTED CONSTRUCTION ON, UH, THE FIRST PACKAGE, UH, THE FIRST INTERSECTION, MINOR IMPROVEMENTS AT GARLAND AVENUE AND STATE HIGHWAY ONE 90 HAVE BEEN COMPLETED.

THEIR IMPROVEMENTS ARE ONGOING AT CAMPBELL ROAD AND STATE HIGHWAY ONE 90, AND THEN FOLLOWED BY THE OTHER TWO INTERSECTIONS.

UH, IN THAT, IN THAT PACKAGE, PACKAGES TWO AND THREE, WHICH IS ANOTHER SEVEN INTERSECTIONS THAT WE HAVE, WE'RE JUST CLOSE TO GETTING WRAPPED UP WITH RIGHT OF WAY ACQUISITIONS.

LET US FINISH UTILITY RELOCATIONS, AND THEN THOSE WILL BE, UH, UNDERWAY WITH CONSTRUCTION AS WELL.

WE'RE HOPING TO BE ABLE TO SEND THOSE OUT FOR BIDS, WHAT DO WE SAY? EARLY 24.

EARLY 24 FOR, PARDON ME, FOR BOTH OF THOSE PACKAGES.

UM, AND THERE'S SOME OF THE IMPROVEMENTS THAT, UH, ARE IN PACKAGE ONE.

UM, YOU CAN SEE THE, ON THE LEFT TOP, YEAH, THAT'S, UM, GARLAND AVENUE AND, AND ONE 90.

YOU CAN SEE THAT EVEN NEAR MIDDAY, THE INTERSECTION HAS PRETTY, UH, QUITE A FEW CARS AT IT.

AND ON THE UPPER LOWER RIGHT IS CAMPBELL AND ONE 90, AS YOU CAN SEE, THE DEMO HAS OCCURRED AND THEY'RE STARTING TO MAKE THEIR IMPROVEMENTS, UH, HOFER ROAD, UM, REALLY SEGMENT A NORTH OF THE BUSH TURNPIKE UP TO THE CITY LIMITS.

UH, CONSTRUCTION IS JUST NOW GETTING, GETTING UNDERWAY, UH, TO CONVERT THAT ROAD FROM A TWO LANE ASPHALT STREET TO A FOUR LANE DIVIDED CONCRETE STREET WITH A DEDICATED BIKE LANE TO THE SIDE PATHS.

UM, UM, AND THE SEGMENTS B AND C, UH, ARE STILL IN THE DESIGN PHASE NAME IN SCHOOL ROAD.

OH, YES, PLEASE.

SO I WOULD LIKE TO ADD SOME CONTEXT TO HOLFORD ROAD, UM, FOR SEGMENT B AND C.

YES, WE'RE AT A HUNDRED PERCENT DESIGN ON SEGMENT B, VERY FAST APPROACHING THAT, AND WE'RE APPROACHING 30% DESIGN ON SEGMENT C.

HOWEVER, GIVEN THE CURRENT ESTIMATES THAT WE HAVE ABOUT A 10 TO $12 MILLION GAP IN FUNDING, UM, WE ARE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT, UM, THESE PROJECTS A LITTLE BIT CLOSER DURING THE CIP PROCESS, AND YOU'LL, UM, BE RECEIVING MORE INFORMATION DURING THAT PROCESS.

UM, STILL WAITING ON SOME FRANCHISE UTILITY RELOCATIONS TO HAPPEN THERE BEFORE WE SEND THAT TO BIDS.

WE DON'T WANNA SEND A PROJECT OUT AND RECEIVE BIDS AND THEN TELL A CONTRACTOR, OH NO, YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER FOUR OR SIX MONTHS BEFORE YOU CAN START.

THAT'S A GOOD SITUATION TO, TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

SO WE'RE HOPING THAT CAN GO OUT, UH, FOR BIDS, UH, EARLY 24 AS WELL.

BUT THEY NEED A FEW THINGS TO HAPPEN FOR US.

SHALLOW ROAD KINGS OF MILLER, UH, THIS WAS ONE OF THE PROJECTS THAT WE HAD THE, UH, OPEN HOUSE FOR A FEW WEEKS AGO.

UM, GOSH, AUGUST 24TH, THAT'S MORE THAN A FEW WEEKS AGO.

SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY , UM, 30, 30%, UH, DESIGN IS WRAPPED UP.

AND THERE WAS, WITH THIS PARTICULAR PROJECT, WITH THE FEDERAL FUNDING THAT'S IN IT, THERE'S A PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD, UH, THAT I BELIEVE HAS SINCE ENDED.

UH, SO THE, THE TEAM IS MOVING ON TO THE 60% DESIGN LEVEL BECAUSE OF THE DESI, UM, PARDON THE RIGHT OF WAY ACQUISITION THAT'S GONNA BE NECESSARY FOR THIS PROJECT.

WE DO EXPECT THERE TO BE A BIT OF A PAUSE OR A GAP BETWEEN THE COMPLETION OF DESIGN AND THE START OF BIDDING FOR CONSTRUCTION FIRE STATIONS.

UH, I'M SURE EVERYONE HAS SEEN FIRE STATION SIX.

IT'S, UH, MOVING RIGHT ALONG.

UM, IT'S RIGHT NOW WE'RE HOPING TO FINISH IN EARLY 2024.

GOT SOME LONG LEAD PROCUREMENT ITEMS THAT WE'RE HOPING THAT COME THROUGH IN OUR FAVOR.

BUT WE'VE BEEN COMMUNICATING WITH CHIEF LEE QUITE A BIT ABOUT THE ANTICIPATED MOVE INTO THE, FROM THE CURRENT FIRE STATION SIX TO THE NEW STATION FIRE STATION SEVEN, UH, COUNCIL AWARDED THE DESIGN CONTRACTORS A FEW, FEW WEEKS AGO.

AND SO THAT DESIGN TEAM IS JUST ABOUT TO GET IT UNDERWAY, UH, WITH THEIR DESIGN FIRE STATION.

ONE, WE'RE GETTING CLOSE TO, UH, ADVERTISING FOR BIDS, WORKING WITH THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE ALL THE SITE ISSUES WORKED OUT.

AND THEN, PARDON ME.

AND THEN WE'LL SET UP A TIME, UH, TO START ADVERTISING THAT PROJECT, UH, FOR BIDS.

SO HOPEFULLY IN THE, I THINK THE FIRST QUARTER, YES, IT'S BIDDING FOR CONSTRUCTION LATE 23, SO PROBABLY IN SPRING OF NEXT YEAR, WE'LL START CONSTRUCTION OFF FIRE STATION ONE.

AND THERE'S SOME PICTURES OF FIRE STATION SIX.

AND MY NOTE HERE WAS THAT WE PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE SOME NEWER PHOTOS WITH THE PROGRESS THAT THEY'RE MAKING.

BUT THAT'S, UH, WHAT WE HAVE SO FAR, UM, WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, WE HAVE, UH, THREE PROJECTS.

UH, THE TOP LINE THERE IS ACTUALLY TO THE REALITY BASED TRAINING FACILITY OR MUNITIONS.

UH, AND THE RANGE IMPROVEMENTS,

SHOULD BE COMPLETED IN SPRING OF NEXT YEAR.

UH, SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS.

UH, THAT PROJECT IS REALLY A, A TWO OR THREE PROJECTS.

INITIALLY, THERE WAS SOME SURVEILLANCE CAMERA IMPROVEMENTS THAT WERE MADE THIS PAST SUMMER, COMPLETED A PERIMETER FENCE UPGRADE, UH, FOR CHIEF BRYAN.

AND THEN THE NEXT PHASE IS AN INTERIOR REMODEL THAT, UH, I THINK THE PLANS, I THINK ARE ABOUT 95% COMPLETE, LOOKING AT THE ESTIMATE TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE THE FUNDING AVAILABLE, SO WE CAN SEND THAT OUT FOR PRICING AND GET THE WORK COMPLETED.

SO WE GET THE FURNITURE ORDERS AND THINGS LIKE THAT COMING IN AT THAT TIME.

AT THAT TIME, ONCE WE GET, UH, UM, TONY IRVIN AND HIS STAFF MOVED OVER TO THE NEW BUILDING, WE'LL HAVE ANOTHER SECOND PHASE OF THAT PROJECT JUST TO DEMOLISH THE EXISTING STREET BUILDING AND THEN, UH, EXPAND THE PARKING LOT THAT'S OVER THERE.

SO THE BUILDING WE COMPLETE, EVEN THOUGH THAT PROJECT WILL GO ON FOR A FEW MORE MONTHS AFTER THAT CENTRAL LIBRARY.

UM, I HAVEN'T BEEN OVER THERE RECENTLY, BUT I KNOW THERE'S BEEN A TON OF DEMO AS EVIDENCED BY THE PICTURES , UH, THAT ARE IN PLACE HERE.

BUT THIS IS ONE THAT'S, UH, IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME COMING, BEEN A LOT OF EFFORT PUT INTO GIVING THIS PROJECT TO WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE.

UH, AND SO IT'S REALLY GREAT TO SEE THAT IT'S, IT'S MOVING FORWARD.

UM, CONSTRUCTION WILL TAKE.

SO IN TERMS OF COMPLETION OF A PROJECT, UM, WE, THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE LOOKS AT COMPLETION OF A PROJECT IS WHEN, IS IT OFFICIALLY SUBSTANTIALLY COMPLETE? WHEN CAN THE OWNER TAKE POSSESSION OF IT? WELL, THE WAY THE PUBLIC WOULD LOOK AT IT IS, WHEN DO I GET TO GO TO THE LIBRARY AND, AND GET A BOOK OR, OR, OR PARTICIPATE MY, LET MY KID PARTICIPATE IN AN INTERACTIVE PLAY AREA.

AND SO THERE, THERE'S REALLY A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TECHNICAL DEFINITION OF WHAT A PROJECT IS COMPLETE AND WHEN THE PUBLIC THINKS IT'S COMPLETE.

AND SO, BUT WE HIT ALL THE OTHERS.

UH, AND THERE'S A INDOOR WALKING TRACK.

THERE'S A FITNESS ROOM.

THEY HAVE THEIR DINING AND GATHERING SPACES, A GAME ROOM, A GROUP FITNESS ROOM, MULTIPURPOSE ROOMS, CRAFT ROOMS. THEY, THEY HAVE A LOT.

UH, THERE IS EVEN AN OUTDOOR WALKING TRAIL THAT, UH, GOES AROUND THE PERIMETER.

WE ALSO HAD TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION JUST SOME STAFF PRIORITIES THAT WE HAD FROM AN OPERATIONAL STANDPOINT, UH, AS WE LAID OUT THIS FACILITY.

SO WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAD ONE POINT OF ENTRY, UH, FOR THE SAFETY AND THE WELLBEING OF OUR PARTICIPANTS THAT COME TO THAT FACILITY.

SO THE DROP OFF AND, UH, MAIN ENTRY ARE, UH, ACTUALLY FACING OFF OF AVENUE B.

AND ANOTHER THING THAT WE WANTED TO CONSIDER WAS THE CONNECTION TO THE BEAUTIFUL DOWNTOWN, UH, SQUARE THAT WE'VE JUST FINISHED.

AND SO THE BUILDING ACTUALLY IS PULLED UP TO AVENUE A AND SO WHEN YOU ARE DOWNTOWN, OR IF YOU'RE IN 20, WHICH IS OUR NEW PLAZA, YOU'LL HAVE A GREAT VIEW OF DOWNTOWN.

AND IT JUST REALLY PULLS IT UP AND DOESN'T FEEL SO FAR AWAY ON THE SITE LIKE IT DID BEFORE.

UM, AGAIN, SOME OTHER CONSTRAINTS THAT WE HAD WERE THE EASEMENTS THAT RUN ACROSS THAT SITE.

AND THAT I HAD TOOK A JOB WITH ANOTHER ENGINEERING FIRM AND I WAS JUST, UH, FOOLING THIS, UH, COUNCIL AND MY DESIRE TO EXPEDITE THIS, EXPEDITE THIS PROJECT.

THE FIRST PROJECT IN GREEN, UM, WENT TO LETTING ABOUT, UH, TWO YEARS AGO.

IT'S $142 MILLION PROJECT.

WE'RE ABOUT 66% COMPLETE.

UM, WE ARE EXPECTED TO FINISH THAT UP IN LATE 2024.

EVERYTHING'S GOING VERY WELL.

THAT PROJECT'S ACTUALLY A LITTLE BIT AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.

AND THEN THE PROJECT IN RED, UM, WE'VE GOT ACTUALLY A SECOND CONTRACTOR DOING THAT ONE, $312 MILLION PROJECT JUST BARELY GETTING STARTED.

YOU SHOULD SEE THE EASTBOUND FRONTAGE ROAD BRIDGE PROGRESSING.

UM, AND KEEP IN MIND WE'LL BUILD ANOTHER WESTBOUND FRONTAGE ROAD BRIDGE AS WELL.

AND THEN THE LAST PROJECT, UH, IN PURPLE, $342 MILLION.

UM, THAT ONE'S REALLY JUST GETTING STARTED.

SO YOU'LL SEE A LOT OF WORK, UH, ON INTERSTATE 30.

THERE'S NO NEED FOR ADDITIONAL RIGHT OF WAY, SO WE WON'T BE IMPACTING ANY PROPERTIES.

UM, BUT WE REALLY THINK WE CAN OPTIMIZE SOME OF THOSE WEAVING MOVEMENTS.

WE'VE GOT SOME RAMP THAT MERGE IN, UM, SOME CONFLICTS THERE THAT ONCE WE SORT ALL THAT OUT, WE THINK TRAFFIC WILL FLOW A LOT MORE EFFICIENTLY.

AND SO YOU GUYS SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE SCHEMATIC.

WE GOT ENVIRONMENTAL CLEARANCE THIS SUMMER.

THE GOOD NEWS IS WE HAVE FEDERAL FUNDS.

SO WE DID A TRADE TRADE WITH DART.

UH, WE GAVE OUR $15 MILLION TO DART, DART HAS SINCE GIVEN YOU THE $15 MILLION FOR THAT PARTICULAR PARTNERSHIP.

SO THAT IS PROCEEDING IN A, A VERY INNOVATIVE WAY.

AND THEN DART CAME UP WITH THE IDEA TO, UM, UH, GIVE MONEY BACK TO ITS COMMUNITIES.

AND THEN THEY GOT INTO A, UM, A SIGNIFICANT FIGHT ON THE MECHANICS OF HOW THEY WOULD GIVE THAT BACK TO THE COMMUNITIES.

YOUR COMMUNITY WAS HURT, UH, IN THOSE CALCULATIONS.

THE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION COUNCIL PAID THE DIFFERENCE.

WHICHEVER CITY GETS THE HIGHER AMOUNT IS THE RIGHT ANSWER.

'CAUSE YOU SHOULDN'T BE GIVING MONEY BACK TO CITIES.

AND THEN SOME CITIES GET HARMED IN WHAT THAT ALLOCATION WOULD BE.

SO THE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION COUNCIL PAID 19.67 MILLION AND YOU ENDED UP GETTING, YOU KNOW, SOMETHING CLOSE TO $10 MILLION, WHATEVER THE HIGHER THE TWO OPTIONS WERE.

UM, I THOUGHT IMPORTANT THAT YOUR COMMUNITY BEING THAT YOUR, THIS COMMUNITY IS SUCH A STRONG SUPPORTER OF DART, HOW COULD YOU BE EXPOSED TO A LOWER, LOWER ALLOCATION? SO THOSE ARE TWO COMPLETELY OUT OF THE BOX PARTNERSHIPS.

YOU WOULDN'T SEE THOSE IN OTHER REGIONS.

UH, WE PRIDE OURSELF IN PRETTY SOPHISTICATED PARTNERSHIPS WITH OUR TXDOT PARTNERS IN OUR COMMUNITIES.

SO I KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF AN LBJ, BUT I KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ON ON LBJ, I KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF SAFETY ON LBJ, I KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF, UH, MANAGE LANES ON LBJ, WHICH I CALL THE DFW MIRACLE.

SO WHEN YOU LOOK AT OUR PERFORMANCE METRICS, UH, YOU CAN SEE WHY THE EIGHTH LARGEST REGION IN THE COUNTRY HAS THE SAME LEVEL OF CONGESTION AS BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, AND BALTIMORE HAS ONE THIRD, THE POPULATION OF THE DALLAS-FORT WORTH REGION.

AND WE HAVE THE SAME CONGESTION LEVELS.

SO HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? UM, IT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE DEALING WITH THE DIRECT AND THE INDIRECT BENEFITS.

SO IF YOU CAN ADD MORE DENSITY AROUND RAIL STATIONS, OR IF WE CAN WORK ON JOB HOUSING BALANCE WHERE THE DISTRIBUTION OF HOUSING AND THE DI DISTRIBUTION OF INCOMES OF WORKERS IN THE SAME RAIL CORRIDOR ARE EQUAL, THEN I'VE HAVE A CHANCE OF SOMEONE LIVING AND WORKING IN THAT SAME CORRIDOR.

AND, AND MAYBE RAIL TRANSPORTATION BECOMES A BETTER MODE.

YEAH.

BUT IN THE COMMUNITY OF FRISCO, I, I COULDN'T AFFORD TO LIVE IN FRISCO.

WHEN YOU TRY TO HIRE A WAITER TO WORK AT A MAJOR HOTEL IN FRISCO, THEY'RE COMING 30 MILES AWAY AND HAVE TO PAY HUGE DIFFERENTIAL LABOR RATE TRANSPORTATION.

RIGHT? AND THE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM IS BROKEN IN FRISCO BECAUSE THERE IS NO JOB HOUSING BALANCE WITHIN THAT PARTICULAR COMMUNITY.

AND WHEN THERE ISN'T THAT BALANCE, THEN WE HAVE TO PICK UP THE PIECES ON A, YOU KNOW, A, A ROADWAY SYSTEM THAT BRINGS PEOPLE 20 AND 30 MILES AWAY.

SO THE MORE WE CAN CREATE THIS COMMUNICATION AND PARTNERSHIP, THE MORE WE CAN SEE WHAT TRANSPORTATION AND THE INDIRECT IMPACTS OF TRANSPORTATION CAN REALLY DO ON THE LIVES OF THE, THE RESIDENTS THAT WE ALL SERVE.

AND SOME OF THE CREATIVE IDEAS THAT WE'VE TALKED ABOUT IN THE PAST, UH, ESPECIALLY, AND I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THE RIGHT SPACE FOR IT, BUT ESPECIALLY SUCH THINGS AS PUTTING, UH, UH, POWER GRIDS DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY FOR THE NEW ELECTRIC VEHICLES SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO STOP AND PLUG IN, BUT THEY GET POWER AS THEY'RE RUNNING DOWN THE ROAD.

YOU KNOW, THOSE ARE VERY CREATIVE THOUGHTS AND IDEAS
