Written Briefings a. 2011 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant The Director of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) has made funds available to units of local government under the 2011 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program for the purpose of reducing crime and improving public safety. The Garland Police Department is eligible to apply to the BJA. If approved by the federal government, the grant will provide $42,553.92 in funding. This item is scheduled for formal consideration at the June 21, 2011 Regular Meeting. b. Annual Performance Update on the City of Garland Housing Agency 2010-2014 Five-Year Plan and Administrative Plan Revision On July 13, 2010, Council approved the Garland Housing Agency’s Five-Year Plan. The U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires each agency to submit an annual performance progress report on their five-year plan. In addition, HUD requires that each Housing Agency develop and adopt an Administrative Plan that identifies the policies the agency will follow to administer the Housing Choice Voucher Program Funds. If Council concurs, this item will be scheduled for formal consideration at the July 5, 2011 Regular Meeting.
