Appointment to the TMPA Board of Directors Council At the May 16, 2011 Work Session, Council was notified that Tom Jefferies’ term as a member of the Texas Municipal Power Agency (TMPA) Board of Directors will expire on July 18, 2011. A notice was posted on the City’s website for 14 days in order to provide citizens an opportunity to apply for the position. No citizens responded. Mr. Jefferies has indicated his desire to continue serving as Garland’s representative. If Council concurs, an item will be scheduled for formal consideration at the June 21, 2011 Regular Meeting reappointing Mr. Jefferies to the TMPA Board of Directors.

Vacant Positions on Various Outside Boards Council At the May 16, 2011 Work Session, Council was notified of vacant positions on the Animal Services Advisory Committee, Garland Housing Finance Corporation, Garland Health Facilities Development Corporation and Garland Economic Development Authority. Notices were posted on the City’s website for 14 days in order to provide citizens the opportunity to apply for the vacant positions. Council is requested to review and discuss the applications that were submitted. If Council concurs, interviews for the selected candidates will be held at the June 20, 2011 Work Session and appointments will be made at the June 21, 2011 Regular Meeting

Marketplace Drive would become Broadmoor Drive. The owners of property (4 parcels) addressed on this portion of Marketplace Drive have been notified of the public hearing and proposed change.

Hold a public hearing on the following zoning case:] Consider the application of Ellen Gordon, requesting approval of an amendment to Planned Development (PD) District 83-104 for Single Family Uses regarding conversion of a garage to living space. The property is located at 2914 Andrea Lane. (File 11-15) The proposal is for approval of an amendment of PD 83-124 regarding conversion of a garage to living space at 2914 Andrea Lane. At the May 9, 2011 meeting, the Plan Commission (by an 8 to 0 vote) recommended approval of the request.
9. Consider appointments to Boards and Commissions. Board members are selected for two-year terms by the City Council in August. Terms are usually staggered whereby at least half of the membership has board experience. Board members are appointed based on qualifications.
