The City will receive $643,233 for operation of the NETLS service program through the Nicholson Memorial Library System during State Fiscal Year 2011 (September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011), including a projected $30,633 in indirect costs as City revenues. Technical Assistance Negotiated Grant for the Northeast Texas Library System The City of Garland contracts with the Texas State Library and Archives Commission to administer the program for the Northeast Texas Library System through the Nicholson Memorial Library System. The program is fully funded by the State of Texas and the City incurs no liability for operation should funds not be appropriated by the State. Council is requested to authorize the City Manager to accept a Technical Assistance Negotiated Grant in the amount of $82,325 for administration of the program, including $3,920 indirect costs as City revenues. Update on the 2010 Healthy Living Expo Staff will brief Council on the 2010 Healthy Living Expo to be held on September 25, 2010.
Council Meeting Schedule for National Night Out This year Texas will celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, October 5, 2010. The first regular Council meeting in October is also scheduled on that same night. At the request of Council Members Laura Perkins Cox and John Willis, Council is requested to consider rescheduling their meeting to Monday, October 4, 2010. This would allow the Mayor and Council Members the opportunity to participate in local National Night Out activities in the community.
Use of Handheld Communication Devices in School Zones At the request of Mayor Jones, Council is requested to discuss the use of handheld communication devices in school zones.
Utility Advisory Board Direction Council is requested to discuss the future direction of the Utility Advisory Board.
