Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a Project Specific Agreement with Dallas County for the design of roadway improvements to Northwest Highway, between Centerville Road and LaPrada Drive. The City of Garland has been selected to receive funds from Dallas County for improvements to Northwest Highway between Centerville Road and LaPrada Drive. Funding for the design of the project is approved in the 2010 Capital Improvement Program budget. Dallas County has issued a Project Supplement Agreement (PSA) to release $150,000 to fund one half the design cost of this project. The balance of the approved funds will be released through another PSA when the final design plans are completed.
Hold a public hearing and consider an ordinance supporting the nomination of Plastipak Packaging, Inc., for the Texas Enterprise Zone Program. Over the next five years Plastipak plans to invest $5 million in its facility and equipment improvements. This will increase their Garland business personal property value by $34,980. At the April 19, 2010 Work Session, Council was scheduled to consider a recommendation by the Garland Economic Development Steering Committee that Council provide support of nomination for the Texas Enterprise Zone Program.
