Texas Enterprise Zone Program - Mayer Sears Logistics Services, Inc. Sears Logistics Services, Inc. plans to invest $5 to $7 million in its facility and equipment improvements over the next five years. This project will increase their Garland business personal property value by a total of $17,000 to $24,000. The Garland Economic Development Partnership Steering Committee is recommending that Council provide support for the nomination of Sears Logistics Services, Inc. for the Texas Enterprise Zone Program and support of employee training. This item is scheduled for a public hearing and formal consideration of an ordinance at the November 17, 2009 Regular Meeting.
GREAT Homes Program Update Staff will make a presentation to Council on the current status of the GREAT Homes Program, a foreclosure and neighborhood revitalization effort funded by Federal and State Neighborhood Reinvestment Program grants.
Use of Handheld Communication Devices At the request of Mayor Ronald Jones, Council is requested to discuss the use of handheld communication devices in school zones.
