All items under this section are recommended for approval by a single motion of Council, without discussion. Council has been briefed on these items at a previous work session and approval of the consent agenda authorizes the City Manager to implement each item. The Mayor will announce the agenda and provide an opportunity for members of the audience and the City Council to request that an item be removed and considered separately.
Consider a resolution accepting a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) – “Click It or Ticket” (CIOT) Grant in the amount of $39,965.00. At the April 6, 2009 Work Session, Council was scheduled to consider authorizing the acceptance of a TxDOT – Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Grant –“Click It or Ticket.” The purpose of this grant is to save lives by conducting intense occupant protection enforcement as well as public information and education efforts during the 2009 Memorial Day holiday period, May 11, 2009 – May 31, 2009.
Hold a public hearing to consider the 2009/2010 CDBG, HOME, and ESG Budget. One of the requirements in the process of formulating the budget for the Federal Grants is to hold a public hearing. This hearing is to provide an opportunity for comments by any interested individual regarding the proposed use of the funds.
Hold a public hearing on the following zoning case: Consider the application of the City of Garland to consider appropriate zoning on properties zoned Shopping Center (SC) District. These properties are bound by Belt Line Road, Century Park Drive and West Brand Road. (File 08-56) The proposal is for approval of a change of zoning on property zoned for Shopping Center Uses. At the February 9, 2009 meeting, the Plan Commission (by an 8 to 0 vote) recommended approval of the request as recommended by staff.
Persons wishing to address issues not on the agenda may have three minutes to address Council at this time. Council is prohibited from discussing any item not posted according to the Texas Opens Meetings Act.
