Parking Restrictions on Richoak Drive for Parsons Pre-K Numerous residents and motorists have complained about traffic operations at and around the GISD Parsons Pre-K school on Richoak Drive. The Transportation Department and GISD staffs have worked together to develop a traffic control plan to establish a more orderly traffic flow during school arrival and dismissal periods. Council is requested to consider adopting an ordinance prohibiting the stopping, standing, and parking at all times along both sides of Richoak Drive from the easternmost intersection with Richview Drive to Windy Drive. This item is scheduled for formal consideration at the January 6, 2009 Regular Meeting.
Limited Authorization for DART to Initiate Eminent Domain DART is requesting that the City of Garland authorize DART to acquire two parcels of land through eminent domain for the Blue Line Rail extension from Garland to Rowlett. Efforts by DART to reach the property owners have been unsuccessful. This action would give DART the authority to initiate eminent domain proceedings on only these parcels if, and only if, negotiations are unsuccessful. This item is scheduled for formal consideration at the January 6, 2009 Regular Meeting.
Amendment to Garland Youth Council Ordinance The Garland Youth Council is requesting revisions to Section 10.26(B) of the City Code of Ordinances. Members of the Youth Council will be present to discuss the benefits of these revisions and give a brief overview of Youth Council activities for 2008-09.
Discuss Proposed Amendments to the Zoning Ordinance and Planning Ordinance Staff will discuss proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance and the Planning Ordinance related to single family residential structures and requirements related to proportionality between the number of bedrooms in a single family structure and the number and type of bathrooms and living areas within the structure.
Preview of Proposed 2009 CIP Staff will provide an overview of the Proposed 2009 Capital Improvement Program which will be formally presented by the City Manager at the January 6, 2009 Regular Meeting.
