1. Written Briefings: a. Architectural Services Agreement for Hollabaugh Park Recreation Center As planned for in the 2008 Capital Improvements Program, staff is ready to move forward with the final design and construction documents phase for Harris Hollabaugh Park Recreation Center. A design team of Wiginton Hooker Jeffry (WHJ) Architects and David C. Baldwin Landscape Architects was selected to provide a first phase of programming, public input and preliminary designs for the park and recreation center development. If Council concurs, this item will be scheduled for formal consideration at the June 3, 2008 Regular Meeting. b. Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division – Garland Police Boxing-Karate-Tutoring Initiative Grant Council is requested to consider authorizing the acceptance of a $71,280 grant offered through the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division. The purpose of the grant is to add full-time and part-time staff to the existing Boxing-Karate-Tutoring Program allowing the Police Department to expand its program offering additional at-risk youth the opportunity to participate in the program. If Council concurs, this item will be scheduled for formal consideration at the June 3, 2008 Regular Meeting. c. Garland Goes Green Update An update on the Garland Goes Green environmental expo that was held on Saturday, April 19, 2008, is provided for Council’s review and information.
