The Garland Economic Development Partnership Economic Development Steering Committee recommends that Council consider supporting the nomination of Sherwin-Williams for the Texas Enterprise Zone Project. This item is scheduled for formal consideration at the April 15, 2008 Regular Meeting.
The NTMWD has informed the City that Richard Roach’s term as a NTMWD Board Member expires on May 31, 2008. Council will interview all candidates interested in representing the City of Garland as a NTMWD Board Member from June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2010.

Council is requested to consider a request from District 5 City Council Candidates, John Willis and Edwin Coleman, regarding the Town Hall Meeting for Districts 2 and 5 that is scheduled to be held on April 29, 2008.
In order to make necessary improvements to Bunker Hill Road, the City of Sachse is requesting that the City of Garland consider the de-annexation of approximately six acres along the roadway so that the City of Sachse can annex the property and begin negotiations with the property owners for the acquisition of the needed property. It is the City of Sachse’s intent to obtain only that property necessary for the construction and utilities associated with the roadway. This area includes only a small portion of property from each property owner along the roadway. No homeowners will be displaced.
The proposed 2008/2009 CDBG, HOME, ESG and ADDI Budget must be submitted to the Department of Housing and Urban Development by August 15, 2008. A number of neighborhood meetings have been held to receive input on the proposed use funds. A public hearing was also held on April 1, 2008. Council is requested to discuss proposals and the budget. Adoption of the budget is scheduled for May 6, 2008.
