Presentation of the 2007-08 Proposed Budget
In accordance with the City Charter, the City Manager shall submit to the Item 8 - Council a Proposed Budget for the coming fiscal year prior to August 15. Following the presentation to Council, copies of the Proposed Budget will be placed at each City library, the Office of the City Secretary, and on the City?s website for public review and inspection.
Proposal to Vote on Proposed Tax Rate for 2007-08
Item 9 - In accordance with Chapter 26 of the State Property Tax Code, Council must vote to place on the agenda of a future meeting an action item calling for the adoption of the ad valorem tax rate. This vote must be recorded and must specify the desired rate. Council must then schedule two public hearings on the proposed rate. This action is required as part of the ?Truth in Taxation? legislation surrounding setting ad valorem tax rates and does not commit Council to adopting the proposed ad valorem tax rate. Following the vote and call for a public hearing, a notice will be placed on the City?s website and a quarter-page ad placed in the local newspaper publicizing the vote and public hearings.

Item 10a - Consider the application of Standard Pacific Homes, requesting approval of 1) change in zoning from Agriculture (AG) District to Planned Development (PD) District for Single-Family Uses, and 2) Concept Plan. The property is located at 1606 and 1608 Ben Davis Road.

Item 10b - Consider the application of T-Mobile USA, Inc., requesting approval of a Specific Use Permit for an Antenna, Commercial Type 2 on property zoned Freeway (FW) District. The property is located at 1529 East Interstate Highway 30, north of East Interstate Highway 30 and west of Bass Pro Drive.

Item 10e - Consider the application of Firewheel Land Investors, Ltd., requesting approval of 1) a Specific Use Permit for a Hotel/Motel, Limited Service on property zoned Planned Development (PD) District 06-79 for Freeway Uses, 2) a Detail Plan, and 3) an amendment to Planned Development (PD) District 06-79 to allow an additional monument sign. The property is located on the south side of President George Bush Turnpike, west of Elliot Avenue.
Consider appointments to Boards and Commissions
Item 11 - Board members are selected for two-year terms by the City Council in August. Terms are usually staggered whereby at least half of the membership has board experience. Board members are appointed based on qualifications.
