Preview of 2007-08 Proposed Budget
Item 3a - Staff will present an overview of the City Manager?s Proposed Budget for 2007-08 and review the calendar for August and September Budget Sessions. The 2007-08 Proposed Budget document will officially be presented to Council at the August 7, 2007 Regular Meeting.

a. Residential Lock Box Program for Senior Citizens Information is being provided to Council on a new residential lockbox program that is intended to expedite access to senior citizens in their own homes during medical or other emergencies. The residential lockbox program helps to eliminate the likelihood of property damage caused by first responders who force entry into a residence during an emergency. The program will be open to all Garland residents who either live alone, or must be left alone on a regular basis, and are age 65 and above, or are under age 65 and have a major issue that could render them incapacitated or unconscious. There is no financial impact to the City of Garland. Lockboxes will be purchased by the Garland Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association.
d. Advance Foods Company Rate Adjustment Advance Foods Company has formally requested a sewer rate adjustment. Council is requested to consider granting this request based on improvements to the quality of sewer effluent made by Advance Foods Company since purchasing the assets of Quik-to-Fix Foods in July 2006.
